It features Milton Henry - a distinct voice from Jamaica, well known for his works with Wackies - on a recut of the classic ‘Words Of My Mouth’-riddim by UK dub legend Disciples with an equally deep reinterpretation by Italy’s dub veteran Buriman (Moa Anbessa) on the flip side. A tune called ‘Modern Prophet’, telling the story of ‘old Marcus’ to the ones who have an open ear and heart, young and old. As a little extra the A side holds a melodica version by Dubiterian, while the B side ends with a Sax cut by Sax N Dub. I’ve been hearing a lot of people say and post things like, ‘wildfires are just what we needed in 2020!’ Or ‘could 2020 suck anymore? Did we really need wildfires, too?!’. listen, I will never deny the fact that this year has been ROUGH for many specific to 2020 reasons (ehem, I see you COVID-19), but if anything, I think this year has highlighted MANY critical issues that have been building up for decades and decades and have only been exasperated by the circumstance of COVID-19. To name a few of these issues... police brutality, the Black Lives Matter movement, our broken healthcare system, voter suppression, homelessness.... And, yes, CLIMATE CHANGE. . . . The current wildfires overtaking the West Coast as well as the hurricanes and floods in the Gulf of Mexico are clear signs of the deadly consequences of Climate Change. Since the industrial revolution, humans have added about 375 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Although the earth’s climate has shifted over the course of millennia, the changes we are seeing now are happening at an *unprecedented rate*. Needless to say... THIS IS NOT A 2020 ISSUE, THIS IS A CLIMATE CRISIS!! This has existed WAY beyond this year, and will continue to be present in our everyday lives in many big, fatal ways. . . . Swipe through for a quick snapshot of the effects and context of the Climate crisis. Additionally, I added some things we can all do to be kinder to our planet, big and small. I can’t really believe I’m writing this right now but sometimes life has amazing opportunities set for you and this is one of, if not, the biggest milestone yet. Mabel’s ‘High Expectations- Stripped’ is out today and I am extremely proud to say that I have co-produced all tracks alongside @ashton.miranda ! . Thank you @mabel for being an absolute g and to both you and @radi_dadi for your complete trust and for letting us have our own creative control throughout the process. . Thanks to @mikehoughmusic for your stunning BV arrangements and to @yazziefierce for bringing the magic to them. Thanks to my bro and best friend @benjamintotten for laying extra bass on a few tracks and giving direction on them. Thank you @_camerongp for your mixing that gave me shivers when I heard it back for the first time. And lastly, thank you @ashton.miranda for continually supporting me, seeing the potential in me from day 1 and asking me to produce this with you. There’s not many people you can work with to such a time scale without driving each other insane but it was an honour g 👊🏽 . We had just 23 days to have the whole album arranged, recorded, mixed and mastered.
