Experiences like these are why I chose to start ncs.captions in the first place! For a couple of months now I have taken more of an observer stance on the water. And let’s be honest, you may sometimes need binoculars to scout for a female-windsurf buddy. And, although the tables havent turned, something extraordinary has happened that got me teary the other day Guys, this is not a sob story, but just hear me out. Being a young-woman-windsurfer (especially as a beginner) can be intimidating you see, when I started windsurfing, to find a surf buddy who was at a similar level and was a girl was something I thought I could only dream about. And then the other day I felt SO inspired to see so many kick-ass young women plaining right up to get a shot taken! You see, as a rookie, the local windsurfer guys were my only source of inspiration: I’d watch them hours on end plaining under those stormy conditions, landing tricks and crashing others, hearing them cheer each other on and, when they finally landed that new trick, the vibes became electric! I thought it took guts and an insane amount of strength to do what they did. I felt total admiration for the guys (still do, you’re friggin awesome!) but at the same time it was oh-so-intimidating! Especially as I was often the only girl and sometimes to me that justified why I wasn’t strong or tough enough, or why I looked clumsy and not cool. I felt like I simply lacked the balls (yep, that pun was intended)! And so every time I encountered a girl my age ore a full grown kick ass woman on the water, it felt like Christmas! And before you know it (well… a couple of years after my early rookie stages), there exists a female-windsurf-gang of younger and older power women who cheer for each other on the water – just like the guys do. And I am just so thrilled to see more and more of us on the water – because I know that the more there are of us, the less intimidating it will be for other girls to give it a go Much love, Nat - @ncs.captions on Instagram

So I didn’t let it stop me singing and dancing in my bedroom when I feel I needed that release during lockdown to try and distract myself from the crazy world 🌎 Alongside this I did the usual lockdown checklist - Making banana bread(for the first time and it was great) - Pajama parties(gave it a name so I didn’t feel too guilty about being in pajamas all day eating popcorn) -Read a good lockdown book ‘When I Woke Up’ by @pauljohnevs (it’s a true story on having the spirit to survive and living life to the full) which was ideal at this challenging time! Now the end is in sight and I am gradually getting back to doing what I love! I have been working with @dannylangston_drums on a duo act with vocals and percussion.
