Just to elaborate on yesterdays post, diagnostically I test EVERYTHING before I make a statement. Nothing is ever an opinion with me without something to back it up. Many people will make statements off of testing meant to prove a marketing point. I go beyond the marketing. In this case a client came to me with heavy hyperpigmentation and melasma. We photographed her skin when she lived in NY and she proceeded to drink an antioxidant formulation and use an olay product topically twice a week. Then she moved to California and became heavily exposed to the sun. In her after photo she broke up a massive amount of sun damage and melasma. In fact, on top of the skin her melasma was gone. This is what remained in her dermis below, which will still take more time to repair. Moral of the story is fortify your cells with nutrients. Drinking on the beach is going to cause glycation/collagen to break down. Beautiful skin especially after age 35 is a catch 22. You have to begin by feeding your skin minerals, essential fats, foods rich in antioxidants, and step away from the processed crap leaving your cells vulnerable. It didnt take laser or chemical peels to achieve results. If she had done those thing then she would have had to forever avoid the sun in those areas because the skin has become compromised. Thats why I like microneedling. Everything from multiple toxic relationships, doubt, fear, consumption of disruptive inputs, not enough sleep, lack of self care, destructive thoughts, assumptions and resentment. The good news is that the more I look inward the more I awake. ( the more you look outward the more you dream). C. Jung! I’ve put so much faith in others and have neglected our intuition. Having placed expectations on loved ones and being let down because expectations create a whole shit load of negative emotions from jealousy, envy, bitterness and pain. There always comes a time where we must make a decision about certain problems that have plagued our lives. And we must take action and face them head on and arms wide open. Challenge ourselves and become one with one another. Blaming others for our reactions to their actions is killing us as we are responsible for accepting what we think may be unfavorable behavior. So thank you again Body for allowing us these lessons and to live the blessings of life AS IF tomorrow may never come. Today is my Alive Day. I was born on the 8th of May. My favorite number growing up was 8. Today, 8 years ago, on the 8th day of the 8th month, the lives of so many dramatically changed in 8 seconds. Over the years, I’ve heard different sayings; Everything happens for a reason. There is a lesson in every experience. Don’t live in the past. Life is full of obstacles; they will teach you how to become stronger. So, I’ll tell you what I learned. 8 years later, I still feel guilty to be here while CSM Griffin, MAJ Gray, MAJ Kennedy, and USAID Abdelfattah are not. I still randomly replay the scenario in my head and try to figure out a better outcome. I am uncomfortable being recognized as a Medal of Honor Recipient. I don’t like it at all. I feel like I need to conquer the world and be the best individual possible so that the families of the men killed can justify my being here while their loved ones are not. I wonder where I would be today if we had scratched that mission due to weather. Or, if we would have left 15 minutes prior. I think about the what if... then I stop. I take a step back; I appreciate my reality. Life is not always fair, its tough and challenging, and it’s not perfect. But, over the past 8 years, I have learned to appreciate the good moments. Today, I want to say thank you to Pam, Kami, Heather, Dane, Kylie, Nyah, Ava, Garrett, Brody, Maggie, Brink, Secor, Balderrama, Mahoney, Ochart, the Boss MG Mingus, and Amy. I love you all. Thank you to my family for being there for me during these past 8 years. Thank you to my new family, Larry, Lisa and Max Zarin. The same goes for all my friends; you know who you are. One of my all time favorite preemie stories. 🥺🙌🏼❤️ I was born in Nov 1975 at 27 weeks, weighing 1 lb 12 oz. My odds of survival were 4% and I was among the smallest surviving babies born in the city of Los Angeles, CA up to that time and for many years afterwards! I was in NICU at USC Medical Center for 13 weeks. I am now 44 years old and the only condition of my prematurity is a bi-lateral moderate-to severe sensorineural hearing loss. I also have been quite underweight my whole life, but I dont think my weight issue has ever been clinically-proven to be a result of my prematurity, though I tend to believe it is! Im thriving and life is a beautiful blessing every day! To all parents of my fellow struggling warrior preemies: I read your struggles and I take all your issues into my own heart! ,I wish you all the greatest measure of love and laughter, health and happiness, beauty and blessings, peace and prosperity!!! 📸LEFT PHOTO: -(Fake smile) Trying to look happy and as if my life was perfect - aspiring for perfection via health compromising extremes . -Obsessive thoughts about food from restricted extreme low carb, low fat, low calorie, high protein diet and cheat meals. . -Trying to look sexy (without sex drive or menses present lol ironic eh) . -Obsessed with having a low body fat % and abs, even at the cost of my health (wasn’t aware that the restrictiveness in my diet, the low body fat and the overexercise contributed to my vast amount of physical symptoms.) . -My external appearance and image (what people thought of me) defined my value as a human and anything less I felt very anxious . . 📸RIGHT PHOTO: -(Authentic smile & laugh)Truly feeling happy, knowing that a “perfect life or body” is unrealistic and accepting the normal life-long struggles, mistakes and ups and downs of life is necessary for growth . -Fully satisfied from previous meal, no strong cravings, extreme hunger or obsessive thoughts around food from non-restrictive balanced diet . -Sex Drive and Menses consistently Present . -Knows that a healthy body fat for my body structure is essential for health, energy, hormones, sleep, brain function, digestion etc. . -Internal acceptance: that looks aren’t everything; aware that we live in a culture that is abnormally hyper-focused on appearance and neglects the other vast amount of unique talents and traits each human has to offer the world that are even more valuable than a body weight or look. . . The list goes on and on.. . . I had myself convinced, and everyone around me, that my lifestyle was the healthiest ever.. I blamed the food, I blamed my body, I blamed myself.. . . I realized the restrictiveness and extremes to my diet and lifestyle was to blame, and I had the control to get my life and health back via diet recovery. . . I worked WITH my Body instead of against it to recover my health, life and freedom back. . . I listened, trusted and surrendered, rather than trying to control, manipulate and suppress. . .
