یکی بود یکی نبود. غیر از خدا هیچکس نبود، هیچکس نیست، هیچکس نخواهد بود و هرچه هست از آن اوست. آمدست، در سراینده های شعر پارسی و افسانه دیرین ایران زمین؛ روزی، روزگاری جمیع پرندگان جلسه ای تشکیل دادند تا پادشاهی نیک سرشت برای خود انتخاب کنند. رییس جلسه هدهد دانا بود. هدهد گفت: دوستان! پادشاه قبلا انتخاب شده است؛ نامند سیمرغ او را! و ماوایش در کوه قاف باشد، باید برای ملاقات ایشان از هفت وادی گذر کرد. و بر شمرد آنها را یک به یک. چون شنیدند، مقصود آن شد و تصمیم بر آن. قصد کردند و داستان سفر ایشان اینچنین آغاز شد. ابتدا وارد دره تحقیق شدند؛ ضمن اینکه داوطلب هدف مورد بحث بودند سعی کردند راه صحیح را پیدا کنند تا با استقامت راه را ادامه دهند. بسیاری از پرندگان به خاطر سختی راه و رنج محنت از ادامه سفر خودداری کردند. اما بقیه با سیر و سلوک وارد دره دوم شدند. آن وادی عشق نام داشت و چون مجبور بودند که برای خود و معشوق متحمل مصیبت جفا و فداکاری شوند و چون در این راه، عشق از عقل پیروی نمیکند، عده دیگری نیز از گروه خارج شدند؛ ولی عاشقان حقیقت به مرحله سوم یعنی کسب دانش وارد شدند و از موهبت الهی و الهام، مستفیض شدند. پرندگانی که موفق شدند به مرحله چهارم وارد شدند؛ یعنی بی اعتنایی به وابستگی های دنیوی. نه تنها نعمت های الهی سبب آلودگی و ناسپاسی انان نشد بلکه از مصائب و خسارت مالی نیز متاثر نشدند، بدین ترتیب در این حالت وارد مرحله پنجم یعنی وحدت شدند و اختلافات ظاهری و مادی مانند کیفیت و کمیت و رنگ و خیلی از بسیار، مورد نظر آنها نبود. سپس بعضی از پرندگان که هنوز سیراب نشده بودند با سعی و تلاش به مرحله ششم رسیدند، یعنی وادی حیرت! حیران ماندند! در آنجا بحثی راجب به من و تو نبود! ما بود و ما! و تنها تو بودی و تو! بطوریکه حتی فراموش کردند که چه کسی هستند! و عاشق چه می باشند؟! حتی دین و مسلک خود را هم فراموش نمودند! فقط به معشوق خود دلبستگی داشتند. درباره مسائلی که در رسیدن به محبوب تاثیر نداشت، کور و کر و لال شدند. و از لحاظ معنوی مجذوب معشوق و همه یک واحد شدند. بنابراین از میان صدها و صدها و صدها هزار مرغ فقط سی تای انها موفق شدند که از خود فانی و با پیوستن به محبوب باقی و به زندگی جاوید رسند! اما آنها پس از جستجوی سیمرغ؛ متوجه شدند معشوقی که قبل از مسافرت به قله قاف تصور میکردند، جز خود آنها کسی نبوده است؛ در حقیقت آن مرغان یکی شدند؛ سیمرغ! و گفت هدهد: اگر خود را در او فانی کنید در او باقی خواهید ماند، چنانچه سایه در نور خورشید ناپدید گردد. - @hobratofficial on Instagram

Andreas Vesalius was a 16th century Flemish anatomist, physician, and author of human Anatomy. Vesalius wrote one of the most influential books in human anatomy, he is the founder of the modern human anatomy. He was a professor at the university Padua. He became an imperial physician. Andreas was born December 31, 1514 and died October 15, 1564. He died at the age 49. His studies of the vascular and circulatory systems made an important contribution to the understanding that the heart acts as it pumps to move blood around the body. Nothing in art history can explain the strangeness of the art of Grüewald. Between 1512 and 1516, the artists Niclaus of Haguenau (for the sculpted portion) and Grünewald (for the painted panels) created this celebrated altarpiece for the Antonite order’s monastic complex at Isenheim, a village about 15 miles south of Colmar. The monks of the Antonite order ministered to victims of Saint Anthony’s fire, a horrible illness that was common in the Middle Ages. This calamity’s cause is now known to be poisoning from a fungus (ergot) that grows on rye grass, thus contaminating the rye flour used in making bread. Ergot contains a chemical that drives its victims mad and results in gangrene of the hands and feet due to constriction in blood flow to the extremities. To care for the sick, the Antonites served them good quality bread and had them drink a concoction called saint vinage, a holy fortified wine, in which the monks had first macerated a special blend of herbs and then soaked the relics of Saint Anthony. Harriet Anne De Salis (1829-1908), who usually referred to herself in her books as, simply, “Mrs. De Salis,” was one of Victorian Britain’s most prolific—and most enterprising—food writers. At a time in which responsibility for household food preparation had begun to shift from kitchen domestics to the “home maker” herself, Mrs. De Salis provided instruction and encouragement in magazine articles and later through a blizzard of special subject books, which were very well received and sold extremely well. In 1886 she offered the first of what she came to refer to as her à la mode series. By the time of her death in 1908, the first book, Savouries à la Mode, was about to go into its twentieth printing. As Mrs. De Salis’ little à la mode books had been a huge success with the public, she continued, even after the series was completed, to issue other books with the same look and style. This is a book of ideas for economical cooking, written around 1890 (which date appears in the preface). That it enjoyed some success is evident from the fact that our copy is a Ninth Impression, dated 1908. Clearly Mrs. De Salis’ view of “small incomes” was colored by the times in which she lived: “The plainest of general servants should be able to manage any of these dishes, and so vary the meals of those families having small incomes, whose purses cannot afford entrees, entremets, and savouries.…” From risotto to orange meringue pie, this is surely not the food of the poor, but the simplicity of many of the dishes was undoubtedly satisfying for many users. #vintagecookbook #cookbook #cookbookstore #nycbookstore #independentbookstore - @kalnyc on Instagram

He specialised in birds. Melchior d’Hondecoeter was a Dutch painter of the Golden Age. At the time many painters chose to specialise in one type of painting and excel in that. And Melchior chose living birds. That was unusual. Most animal painters painted game, that is, animals that had been killed. That is much easier because they tend not to move around as much. And hunters or land owners loved to show people just how much they had shot or how rich their lands were. But these pictures of living birds quickly became popular. You can see how he let the birds interact with each other. The big male peacock seems to have an argument with the owl, while two pigeons are working through whatever relationship difficulties they are having at the moment. Some of these birds were held as pets while others are wild and just dropped in for the picture. The owl is tied to its perch and peacocks don’t live in the wild in Holland. Because the scene is clearly set in Holland, in Amsterdam to be exact. We can see the town hall (now palace) on the Dam in the background. This painting was made to be hung high up on a wall. You can see that in the perspective of the balustrade. So the female peacock would always be looking down on you with her stern disapproving gaze. . Турция, Стамбул, XVII в. © Музеи Московского Кремля . . 🌍 Commissioned by the Emperor Nicholas I for his Grand Kremlin Palace, this so-called Kremlin porcelain service was produced in the first half of the 19th century. Eventually, the outstanding graphic artist and scholar of Medieval Russian art, academician Fyodor Solntsev, designed the artistic programme for the service. Solntsev was a brilliant connoisseur of the Armoury Museum collection and author of the unique six-volume publication Antiquities of the Russian State (1849-1853). It was only natural that Solntsev based his ornament designs and drawings for the Kremlin service on magnificent museum objects, made of gold, painted with enamel, and studded with precious stones. Among the sources of his inspiration were the plate of Aleksey Mikhailovich and the basin from the hand-washing set that once belonged to Tsarina Natalia Kirillovna. .
