One short story/post twice a month. Story 30/Post 39 - THE BLIND MAN - PART III (final part). Cover photo credit - @aarvphotoshots via Pexels. ----- Hey! This was ready by Wednesday, as promised. But I wasnt happy with it. So I rewrote the whole thing from scratch and changed a ton of things. This is probably the longest post at 1700+ words! Thats a lot to digest over one Insta post, but I didnt want to break it down into Parts 3 & 4. Neither could I cut off anything. I wanted to close all the loops (or at least hint towards it), build some character, and a back story. So yea, I hope it was worth it. I am bipolar II It’s been a month now since hearing those words. It still feels weird to say. And hard to talk about at a time when so much wrong is happening to so many in this world. But I also know what it’s like to feel when you don’t know what’s happening in your own head. The sudden highs, and the drastic lows. The anxiety, the fear and stress of the most simple daily tasks. The exhaustion. In the seconds after my emotional out bursts, my gut reaction was to run and hide. Lock myself away. There was no denying who was to blame. I was angry with myself. My thoughts would run wild and destructive self-talk raced. Every negative experience would come rushing back, flooding my mind and blocking out any light. I was incapable of seeing out side of myself. Soon I would want to give up. Life, family, friends and relationships. An end to everything. The ones I loved the most always got my worst. To anyone still reading, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Life offers no guarantees, none. It offers no return policies. It can only be faced head on, day by day, and sometimes minute by minute. I don’t have any of the answers, but I’m down to try and figure it out. Reach out if you need a friend, a ear or a shoulder. You can change. It can be better. It’s ok to ask for help. Zijn er momenten in je leven dat je net iets helderder nadenkt? Dat het makkelijk is om een keuze te maken? Dat je je extra krachtig en zelfverzekerd voelt? Dat zijn in mijn ogen momenten van verbinding met jezelf. De essentie is natuurlijk om voor jezelf te ontdekken hoe je deze momenten kunt creëren. Het liefste dagelijks. Voor de een is dat vissen, voor de ander schilderen, voor een ander mediteren. En vervolgens: heb je het lef om te luisteren naar de inzichten die in deze momenten van verbinding naar boven komen? Onder het tapijt schuiven is meestal het meest verleidelijk… Maar jij niet. Jij wil voelen! Jij wil leven! Jij wil 100% JIJ zijn! Jij wil trouw aan jezelf leven. @nightriots Uk Tour Diary II April 2018. Some of the best memories from the trip were the shows. For some reason we always parked in these obscure places on our days off so we would visit places like a graveyard (respectfully of course). I actually enjoy the picture of Travis out of focus because all of the headstones are in focus and that’s really the focus at a graveyard. I have another of him that I just really liked for no particular reason. These next two shows were Bristol & Birmingham which were amazing. The Bristol was very packed and had no barricade so it definitely reminded me of shooting the hardcore shows i used to shoot when i first started music photography. I really liked the lighting at the Birmingham show and that’s where the cover photo is from. Since we were there such a short amount, we didn’t get too much time to really adjust so I left a sleeping little angel on the last photo. If you had told the 15 year old me that by being a singer/actor I’d be able support myself, travel the world and meet amazing people who’ve enriched my life, and make others happy with my craft... I’d have believed you. But very few would have. Those who would have said they wanted the best for me would have told you they were ‘sincerely’ worried I’d be playing in awful places for no money for the rest of my life, living a debauched life or hooked on drugs. Others would have said I wasn’t good enough. or that the way I wanted to pursue music wasn’t a viable option. or that I wouldn’t succeed without the proper degrees. or that I needed to go on a national television talent show to have any success. or that mine wasn’t a real job. or that if you don’t become a window washer or house cleaner, you’re seeking lofty things. But they were wrong. I’m not hooked on drugs. I don’t live a ‘debauched life’. I play respectable venues, and play respectable music. After 25 years of working in the arts, I’m still here. I’m not a millionaire, but I’m not hungry. I don’t live in a palace, but I’m content with what I have. My bills are paid. My needs are cared for.
