Fra qualche giorno sono trascorsi 26 anni che non ci sei più e voglio ricordare questo aneddoto,il mio preferito. Interlagos 1991. Ha già all’attivo 2 mondiali ma ancora non è riuscito a realizzare il suo sogno, vincere davanti alla sua gente a casa sua. Senna è in testa alla classifica del mondiale e quel 24 marzo parte dalla pole position. Scatta subito in testa al gran premio ma al 60esimo giro la McLaren rompe l’ingranaggio della quarta marcia, prosegue la corsa in testa ma comincia una lotta estenuante con il cambio ad H che inizia a sputare la leva del cambio indietro, perde poi la quinta,poi la terza, la seconda e la prima. Il cambio rimane bloccato in sesta, il braccio ormai è distrutto per sopperire a tutte le sfollate e ora ayrton deve far fronte a tutta la sua forza sensibilità e tecnica di guida per non far spegnere la monoposto nelle curve lente. Gli avversari cominciano a recuperare secondi su secondi ma a pochi giri dalla fine la gara viene colpita da un forte temporale, e ayrton con il cambio sempre bloccato in sesta sta mettendo in scena un’impresa unica, Patrese è dietro ormai quasi incollato a ruota, ma quando esce dall’ultima curva senna è primo e vince. Un urlo di gioia misto a dolore rimarrà nella mente di tutti, senna vince, per 11 giri su 71 ha lottato come un guerriero di altri tempi. Nessuno potrà mai sostituirti. Tomorrow I’m finally once again heading to what for me two years ago seemed almost impossible. My second 24h of Le Mans, once again accompanied by @rahelfreyracing and @manuelagostner. Honestly sometimes I have to pinch myself just to be sure that it’s not all just a dream.... Racing goes up and down, most of the time due to financial reasons, but I’ve gotten myself into a position where all I have to do is to race, perform and enjoy. That’s honestly rare in racing. I feel honored, privileged and EXTREMELY lucky to get this opportunity once again, and even though I’m a person very focused only on the results in the end of the day, I truly believe that it’s important to stop that for a moment and just step back and enjoy. I’ll do that this weekend, I’ll enjoy and I will be proud of what I’ve so far achieved. Haters will say I’m only racing at Le Mans because I’m a female driver, and you know what. That’s so damn true! Female, male or whatever. In the end we are all racers.
