Now, I was supposed to move this demonstration to the Modern Wing of the Art Institute on the Saturday following the initial demonstration. Just to end it on a public note. Child, disaster. - I was naĆÆve to think this would all go smoothly. I get a knock on my door after midnight, and Im called into a meeting the next morning ā the day of the demonstration. Im taken to the Lakeview Building on Michigan Avenue, and Im sat in a meeting of Id say a solid 8-12 individuals. Half work in administration at The Art Institute of Chicago, the other half are deans and administration from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. - Im told that the AIC and SAIC have not been on good terms since Dred Scotts piece was installed in 1989! This white man who was the anchor voice for the museum in the negotiations was trying to charm me into believing him man of distinction because he was in the same graduating class and apparently they spoke. I was told that I could come in at 5am before the museum opened, take some pictures, leave it at that, and be happy to have some documentation. - I politely let him know that I was not moved, and I told him to relay the message to his superiors that their absence was noted. Negotiations took two and a half hours, I think. I end up between the Lions. The whole thing was a flop, there was no time to let people know, and I was over it. From roughly 1877 until the 1950s, white people would assemble in lynch mobs, set upon a Black person they sought to punish, hang them from a tree, pose for photographs around their dead body, and keep the pictures of the lynching as souvenirs. It was a practice meant to terrorise Black people. Some might call Mina Smallmanās comparison an overreaction, claiming there is no relation between what happened to her daughters and the overt, violent racism in the US. It is not. We do not know the race of the police officers who did this to Nicole and Bibaa, but you donāt have to be white to perpetuate anti-blackness. By posing for photos with Nicole and Bibaaās dead bodies, by treating these pictures as souvenirs, those officers chose to engage in a historically racist act.ā Link in my bio x - @daniellledash on Instagram

Que ce soit les filtres Instagram qui nous facĢ§onne le visage de manieĢre telle que nous deĢtournons le regard quand nous arrivons face aĢ une glace reĢelle. Cette mode de chirurgiens qui on rendu normal de vouloir avoir tous la meĢme gueule. Et maintenant cāest le masque.
