I am devastated. Today we lost a legend, New York lost an icon, and I along with many others lost a friend. Jimmy Webb hired me in 2009 at trash and vaudeville. He promptly fired me less than a year later for being a drug addict, bad employee and all around shit head. Years later he told me I was ‘the worst they ever had’ which I took a lot of pride in. Haha. When I got sober, I ran into him on the street in the middle of the night. I got to apologize to him and he embraced me into his life. He was hero to me, someone who could live a good, kind, meaningful life and still be a badass. He taught me so many things, introduced me to Iggy, answered my phone calls when I calling from Georgia, I could go on and on. And I’m just one of many that he did this for. He meant so much to so many people. I’m so thankful to have gotten to see him at his own store this past May. He was so happy and proud. This man helped save my life and I will be forever grateful to him. And i promise to work hard to bring his life and legacy into my own. Rest In Peace, Jimmy. On September 30th, 1989, ICEHOUSE released the single “Touch The Fire”. The song was one of two new songs to appear on the greatest hits album, Great Southern Land. The other new song was “Jimmy Dean”. The single climbed up to Number 13 on the Australian Singles chart. The video for “Touch The Fire” brought ICEHOUSE one of its very few moments of controversy when the clip was banned by MTV in the United States due to its religious imagery. The recording of “Touch The Fire” reunited the team that worked on ICEHOUSE’s Man of Colours album. David Lord flew to Australia to produce it, David Hemming was the engineer and the song was recorded in the same studio, Studios 301.
