But also this summer ... very close friends of mine accompanied us to Le Marche (a region in the center of Italy). Slide to see all of them. I think, I collected already million of pictures of this magical well. You even can drink its water. At least everybody did it, so I assume it is drinkable. It is a beautiful and large place in Ascoli Piceno. The last picture is from Osimo. They have the “best” art exhibitions. The olive tree symbolizes peace and friendship, prosperity, fertility, longevity and healthiness. On our farm, this tree is of the Kalamata “Kalamon” variety. It is over 100 years old and produces large, plump, organic Kalamata olives It’s carefully pruned every year so that the right amount of sunlight and wind can pass through it, but not too much that it would get cold in the winter. This olive tree produces about 80-90 kilos of olives every year— almost 200 pounds of antioxidant rich fruit to be pressed. Notice how the branches in this picture are drooping. The olives are ripe and heavy. As it stands, Viansa remains outside of direct threat from the Glass Fire further north in Napa and Sonoma Counties. We are blessed to be in a location that is at low risk of fire damage, thanks in part to our large wetland preserve that surrounds much of the summit. As for our tasting room, we are taking things day by day, checking winds and air quality to determine whether we will open for guests each morning. Feel free to check back here, call, or email us for the latest updates, but please keep in mind that we cannot know in advance whether we will be open on a certain day due to the unpredictable nature of the winds.
