My character on The Wrong Girl daytime tv host Erica frequently found herself going troppo defending her #same-sex relationship. But her reluctant reply surprised me.. ‘Aw.... just that those ladies look really #happy’ ‘Well, I guess they are happy because they found the person they are meant to be with’ I noted, mentally patting myself on the back. Modern #parenting 101. ‘Hmm, maybe’ she offered. ‘But maybe they are happy cos they are really clever. Maybe cos it’s not who they are meant to be with but who they CHOOSE to be with’. Taken aback I paused and asked her a question before I’d considered whether she was capable of answering it: ‘So... you think liking certain people isn’t just about being born that way?’. She shrugged at first but she didn’t falter. ‘I dunno, Mum. I think it’s about wanting to hang out with someone you love, who loves you and makes you happy and makes you feel good about being you. My Tia Aurora was a force of nature. She was magnetic, and strong, and beautiful, and sharp, and wickedly funny. She was without a doubt my favorite Tia. The life of every party. She had great jokes. She laughed loudly. She called it like she saw it and I loved her for that. She was a living, breathing miracle. She never seemed to allow any of her hardships prevent her from enjoying her life. I’m thankful for the hundreds of memories I have of her. She was excellent at making me cry-laugh with her borderline inappropriateness. She loved a good chisme. She loved to hit the beach with the squad and bring along her cooler full of snacks to feed us all. She got a kick out of sassing my dad (honestly, someone had to do it and there are some legendary stories). She was a human treasure. But this year, like all of you, I am staying home. . I had been invited to sail ⛵️in Croatia 🇭🇷, I was really looking forward to it, I’ve never been there. We were going to start in #dubrovnik and sail around the Adriatic, docking in different ports each day⛵️ending in #montenegro! Now we have to wait, if we are lucky until 2021, but more likely 2022. . Until we can travel safely again we all have to improvise and entertain ourselves. I’m thinking a road trip, maybe wine country? Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, Napa? Parece que foi ontem e ao mesmo tempo, que foi em outra vida. Há 1 ano e meio eu recebia o telefonema que iria mudar os rumos do meu 2019. Era @naturabroficial me chamando pra ser embaixadora da marca e representar o norte no time que eles montariam. De quebra, a incumbência incluía cobrir o Rock in Rio com eles e participar da Casa Natura, numa experiência que foi uma das mais incríveis da minha vida! E em setembro lá estava o casal Lumar de roupão personalizado, com vista pro mar, cheirando a Humor, fazendo massagem e pirando no tecnobrega do Espaço que a Natura montou com os sons da Amazônia em plena cidade do rock Rock. Mas em 2019 muitas experiências, além desse match me mudaram: ressiginifiquei minha relação com o dinheiro, com as pessoas, entrei em terapia, me espiritualizei, fiquei mais zen, reciclei, desapeguei, doei, revi meu consumo e tudo isso parece que me preparava pro que seria 2020. Em 2020 eu me transformei de novo e a Natura, sempre comigo. O Rock in Rio acabou de anunciar a sua data pra 2021, a Natura vai estar junto (e espero que eu também hahaha). E ninguém vai ser igual. A gente vai ressiginificar mais. Refletir mais. Repensar mais. Fazer mais. Transformar mais. Ajudar mais. E se juntar mais. Por nós e pelo mundo. E vocês, como se transformaram? “What gets measured gets done.” 🙌🏼 I’m excited for my kids to get back into a regular routine this week as they start school full time again! Along with that, I’ve decided to revisit my own goals. (PASS: Physical/Academic/Social/Spiritual) I thought I’d share with you some of the steps I take to help me specify my goals and measure my progress, and I’d love to hear any tips you have as well! Sharing is caring after all. 😀 1. Clear your mind with a brain dump by getting your goals out of your head and onto paper. 2. Organize goals into groups your brain can handle and break down large goals into smaller tasks your mind can achieve one at a time. 3. Commit to and schedule each task. It helps to put pen to paper on this too. 4. Put systems into place to keep yourself accountable. (Ex: find workout buddy you can report to each week.) 5. Celebrate your wins- big or small. This will give you the energy you’ll need to stay committed to those larger goals. (Ex: I like to put little things on my Audible or Amazon wish lists and if I’ve stuck with my weekly goals I’ll treat myself to a new book or pen/stationary set!) “Good mood food” is the philosophy of @Chartreusedetroit which finally opened back up a few days ago since the shutdown! 👏 (with social distancing protocols, of course) 😷⁣ Their brunch menu is pretty limited, but what is on there is on point! And when I say limited, I mean they didn’t even have bloody Marys 😭 But their Last Word cocktail—which is made with green chartreuse—was a tasty substitute. ⁣ I think between the 3 of us, we ordered almost all of the brunch items available, but all of them were delicious! We started by splitting the twice cooked egg which comes on a bed of greens, Brussels sprouts and is topped with shredded cheese 🤤⁣ I had the Chartreuse breakfast which comes with possibly the best bacon 🥓 and smashed fingerling potatoes I’ve ever tasted. But if I was a sweets-for-brunch type person, I definitely would’ve had the Choco Taco. ⁣ If you enjoy being in a good mood, check out Chartreuse for brunch!
