Você sabe o que é mapa mental? Os alunos do 7º ano do Ensino Fundamental 2 costumam fazer, nas aulas de História. O objetivo da atividade, proposta pela professora Vera Ribeiro, é facilitar a capacidade de alunas e alunos em compreender o conteúdo abordado: traçar as relações entre os acontecimentos e os fatos da época estudada, por meio dos mapas, que são esquemas de setas e gráficos. São produções individuais, feitas a partir de como cada estudante entende e absorve o conteúdo. Neste momento, a turma está estudando o declínio do Império Romano e a formação da Europa Medieval. Segundo Vera, o mapa mental é sempre o momento final, a conclusão, o fechamento de uma discussão que foi feito nas videoconferências. - O primeiro passo para a construção do mapa é que a turma faça anotações pessoais a partir do que estão estudando. As anotações se transformam em texto e o texto fala de fatos principais que mais chamaram a atenção. Depois disso, a partir do texto, é que fazem o mapa em si, em que os fatos se ligam - diz a professora. E não existe jeito certo ou errado. Segundo a professora, cada pessoa faz seu próprio mapa. - Os mapas mentais não são iguais porque cada um compreende o conteúdo ou o assunto de uma forma diferente. Então, no final do processo, os mapas mentais são importantes pra mim também. Quando recolho esses mapas, consigo perceber como é que cada aluno ou aluna está entendendo aquele processo que foi explicado. E nem todos entendem da mesma forma, então é possível identificar, em muitos momentos, onde está a maior dificuldade de cada um deles em entender algum ponto. E como são os mapas? - Alguns são coloridos, outros feitos com colagens, outros só com caneta esferográfica azul, outro com setas coloridas. É um processo bem particular. Esse tipo de trabalho ajuda nosso cérebro a fazer associações e conexões de uma maneira mais clara. O aluno só consegue construir esse mapa mental quando, de fato, compreendeu minimamente o conteúdo. Por isso que o mapa está no fim do processo: é como se fosse um resumo de tudo que foi assimilado - explica Vera. - @escolaedem on Instagram

Here I am in the pediatrics section of the hospital - where gut health begins (that and I love Keith Haring). I want to share with you all my story about something I just experienced with my almost 3 year old son. He got a big bite under his eye that swelled up. When it didn’t get better and almost swelled his eye shut, we signed up for a telemedicine consult with a pediatrician. The first thing they recommended was antibiotics. Now I’m not a pediatrician so I respect their assessment and plan but I wanted to make my standpoint clear. “My son has never taken antibiotics and I would like to prevent unnecessary use. Is there anything else we can do or are antibiotics necessary now?” Try a couple doses of Benadryl and a compress and if it’s not better by the evening, then take the antibiotics, she said. Well, after the Benadryl and compresses, he was much better. And like that, I narrowly escaped unnecessary antibiotic use in my child’s growing microbiome. What can you do to preserve the gut health of your children... and yourself? 🗣 Make it understood that you prefer to avoid antibiotics and why (preserve the microbiome + prevent future disease) 🗣 If antibiotics are suggested see if it is appropriate to try anything else before starting antibiotics 🗣 If you do start antibiotics, start probiotics and fermented foods. #gutlove protect your (and your kid’s)gut - @gut_love on Instagram

Meet Adrija Adhikary, a second year with ECB pre-majors and COO of Campus Radio. If you notice an extremely small hooman holding a 5 in 1 classmate notebook with hundreds of post it notes stuffed in it while explaining mind-blowing biology ideas to fellow students at speeds comparable to light, there is a chance that you’ve spotted her. Adrija is a think tank of ideas, who also holds the potential to execute them in real-time as well as a brilliant artist, hence getting the label of someone “who doesn’t sleep”! An extremely eloquent speaker who also happens to host controversial ideas such as ICSE is leaps and bounds ahead of CBSE,” and “Bengal is where all the creative people are” *subject to change*, you’ve probably seen her in the vlogs and panel discussions already conducted by Campus Radio and will see in many more to come! Her other ventures in campus include being a core team member of the iGEM team of IISER Kolkata, her association with music club and having a life long subscription of Barfis from basement shop and a winter subscription of the jaggery rasgullas from the canteen (that might be the secret of the productivity)! Fun Fact:- Although she is an extremely happy go lucky person, she can be triggered very easily by following methods 1)Comparing Android and Windows products to Apple products (Her laptop is more valuable to her than anything else) 2)Comparing any other cuisine of the world to Bengali Cuisine 3) “Bio people are dumb people” (just say this once in front of her) What do you think of the Campus Radio Venture: “Prochur kaaj pore bolbo” (Translate: Lot of work I say later) *Goes off to editing the next newsletter* We hope that her association with Campus Radio proves to be as strong as the interaction between quarks.
