Back from the trip of a life time with @oceanoid and @kayburn in the blue waters of Sri Lanka. This big baby, yes big it’s a Blue Whale tale, was not sticking around for photo ops. Get in and get going fast. I only got parts but still amazing. I left this one blue because the blue of the water is truly unbelievable. It is that colour. All I can say is I will be back. Los guías balleneros y buzos locales fueron los primeros que intentaron desenredarla. Pero, la imposibilidad de acceder a las cadenas bajo el agua, los llevó a tomar la original decisión de vararla intencionalmente para cortar las cadenas en la playa. One harvest down one to go, took a break and had an awesome solo adventure off the coast of Santa Barbara, I saw some dolphins, an island fox, and a bunch of harbor seals, enjoyed a kayak tour around Santa Cruz island with the best tour guide around, (Ricardo), went in some sea caves, and topped it off with a short hike. Thanks @sbadventure Even though the sun has been scarce, I’ve really enjoyed SB. We sure picked an amazing week to run four of our famous Extended 8hr Offshore Trips! We had glassy blue water, blue skies, and BLUE WHALES! All of our trips encountered multiple Blue Whales, including cow/calf pairs and some VERY friendly large adults! (see video on our Facebook page!) There has been so much whale activity about 60-70 miles offshore, and while these trips enjoyed the worlds largest animal, there was also reports of Orcas and Sperm Whales in the outer waters! Thats what makes these extended trips so special, you just never know what we might find out there! Mientras nos acercábamos por detrás de las ballenas cuando salían a respirar, sin querer mi amigo Bernardo, quien manejaba diestramente el zodiak en Alaska para que yo pudiera fotografiar la cola al hundirse, se acercó demasiado cuando emergió, lo que provocó una reacción de un gran coletazo de advertencia a escasos metros. La violencia y el estruendo fue algo indescriptible. [ Touch ] When they finally touched their souls caught fire. . . Is hard to describe the different feelings you can get from touch, the cold hand of a stranger, the firey grasp of a soul mate and the comforting grip of family. When I saw this image in my lightroom it reminded me of a dream I had recently where I was just holding hands with an anonymous figure, it didnt feel like a memory it just was a wholesome need being met, I woke up and my first thought was ahh fk I need a cat. . . So when I saw this image I immediately thought of the touch a mother gives to a child and witnessing that care first hand has always stuck with me. . . Do any of these photos look funny to you? Гигантский горбатый кит устроил туристам невероятное шоу В субботу 31 августа в Сиднее было пасмурно и прохладно, но на морскую прогулку, обещавшую наблюдение за китами, собралось много желающих. Экскурсия вышла на славу: туристам посчастливилось целых полтора часа наблюдать за молодым горбатым китом, который все время выныривал на поверхность. Это было захватывающее представление! ₽ Это был обычный экскурсионный тур, организованный компанией Whale Watching Sydney. По мнению специалистов, именно в плохую погоду горбатые киты склонны больше времени проводить на поверхности. И тогда самое время за ними наблюдать! А в хорошую погоду они выныривают два-три раза, не больше. Почему горбатые киты чаще выныривают из воды в пасмурную и холодную погоду, точно неизвестно. Есть мнение, что они делают это для привлечения других китов, общения или в качестве предупреждения самцов-соперников. Так что экскурсантом очень повезло - они попали на представление длиной 90 минут, которое шло без антракта. Горбатые киты, несмотря на свои внушительные размеры, - не самые большие из китообразных. Они могут вырасти до 18 метров в длину и весить около 40 тонн, что составляет примерно половину от размеров синего кита. Но маленькими их тоже не назовешь. This Humpback whale shows it’s powerful strength while throwing it’s tail. This is called a peduncle throw. In a peduncle throw the whale throws its tail sideways, slamming into the water with a huge splash. I love the waterfall seen on last image. This shot of a dolphin and her newborn calf racing towards Small Skellig was taken 4 years ago by my then 13 year old niece, Riona. And today is Riona’s 17th birthday. Ive taken thousands of pictures and Im still dreaming of capturing a moment this good. This is the photo thats on my phones lock screen. Riona took it on a little Samung camera phone and I dont know what divinely-inspired timing was at play but I didnt even have to straighten the horizon line of the original photo. Anyone who’s ever taken a picture from a moving boat knows that it’s virtually impossible to get a level shot. Can we give her a like to encourage her to keep taking awesome photos? It was #worldorcaday last Monday, and so I wanted to dedicate a post to my favorite animal! -from seeing orcas in person for the first time, to my most recent sighting of wild orcas, killer whales have constantly inspired me. These beautiful and intelligent animals almost seem like they are capable of speaking to you and telling you all the secrets of the deep ocean. -did you know? -Orcas are actually members of the dolphin family, yet they are still widely referred to as whales. -killer whales are one of the only animals to display ‘culture’, with different languages and hunting patterns that are learned by diverse groups across the globes. - each whale has a unique saddle patch that helps identify individuals! -my favorite wild orca is J27, “blackberry” , a southern resident killer whale. -the different groups of orcas eat a wide range of food, from penguins and squid, to sea lions, sharks, and other whales! . . Ok, sure I crop my images so they tell a better story. But this isnt cropped, its full frame. These long nosed common dolphin were so fast and hard to frame leaning over the side of the boat with a long lens. Some might call it luck but I dont believe too much in luck, ....exposure, focus, right lens, right position, right timing, right technique, be there.....
