real talk, i’d be lying if I was posting happy pictures all the time saying it was easy during this stay at home order. most days I’ve been waking up crying, then reeling it back to compose myself to get into a routine. reflecting on the days where we were together, hugging, working, running around towns care free. the death toll we see daily can’t be ignored. i am forever indebted to the around-the-clock essential workers that are loosing sleep to save lives/risking their own lives to be on the frontlines. comforting to know we are all staying as safe as we can be and easing their troubles by staying inside. reminding myself the best in life is yet to come, and we will look back on this, together. with so much uncertainty, it’s conversations I have with family and friends that keep me at ease, affirm it’s okay to feel vulnerable and scared of the unknown. i hope i inspire you to do the same if you’re trying to make sense of everything, you’re not alone and it’s important to talk to someone. until then, let’s try and work on how we will make a difference in the world when the so called “normal” starts back up. sending love- - @lindsaygrosswendt on Instagram

Today marks My One Year Being Sober! 🎉 🧘‍♀️😁 Drinking was a normal part of my Aussie culture growing up. Somewhere along the road I learned to ignore and avoid my negative emotions. These days I’m learning how to better deal with them rather than unintentionally using 🍺 to mask the pain, and feel good all of the time which is unrealistic. During this year I also became the Vegetarian I’d always wanted to be; eating mostly vegetables I’ve started growing in my garden. It wasn’t too hard after all, cooking for an omnivore and a vegetarian. I’m also attempting to eat a minimal amount of processed foods such as dairy, flour, pasta, oatmeal and sugar. Being numb to the harm I was doing to my body, and to the terrible foods I put inside me, was necessary before taking care of anything mental. It was through meditation 🧘‍♀️ and slowing down that I learned to love and listen to my body. I now can hear if she is tired, hungry, aching, bloated, energized, out-of-sorts, and much more. Before I did not listen to her at all. I told her how she should be feeling and what she has to do today.  There was once a time I could not even fathom being a non-drinker. Today I know I am happier 🥰 now than I’ve ever been because being sober allows you to embrace reality for the good, the bad and the ugly. To find humor, love and God in all things.  Thank you Robb for saying you’d quit with me, and starting this rollercoaster-of-a-healing-journey. In the end you didn’t need to give up alcohol yourself, although you enjoyed your own reduction in consumption.  Thank you for offering your love and support when I couldn’t find it for myself. Slowly as we open up after Covid, Im looking forward to doing more activities that embrace radical self love, growth, creativity, knowledge and adventure, and way less socializing, consuming and drinking. #tbt • Dad still claims he was LAST to know I switched my major to Interior Design after a year in business. We laugh every time he claims having found out sitting in a crowd of people, over the PA system at a Homecoming football game. Due to a scary accident involving his hand after high school, he decided he needed to go to college. After a few years in the corporate world, he set out and accomplished a successful construction company for over 30 years. He has always been a constant shoulder of support, challenging my sister and I in whatever we committed ourselves to do. After that football game, Dad came up to me and said : 1) “Kiddo, I’m only paying for four years” and 2) “Do not be an inferior desecrator. I won’t have a daughter who is an inferior desecrator.” I hear dad’s voice every day - reminding me to be creative, but smart - a planner, a team player, lacking in cockiness and carelessness. I know 2020 has been extremely rough on everyone, but these past few months it seems likes it’s picking on me quite a bit. When I felt the dull pinch, I knew it was bad. 😬 I pulled off my glove and freaked out - a crush injury to my finger with shards of bone visible through a deep cut. 🦴 My dirt bike crew bandaged me up, reassured me that it while it was bad I hadn’t lost my finger, and put me back on my bike for the not-so-fun trail ride down to the truck. 🚘 I’ve had three decent injuries over the last year, but this was somehow the scariest - probably because I leapt to the conclusion that I would lose part of my finger. 😳 I’ve had to remind myself that the trick to getting through injuries (or any challenge) is not looking too far ahead and just putting your trust in the docs, your faith - whatever does it for you - and focusing only on the next step or two. 🖤 About to go see the hand surgeon and find out my next steps - wish me luck!! 🍀 - @jen_macpherson on Instagram

Bitte entscheidet es für euch selbst und passt auf euch auf🧡☀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀𝗪𝗶𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗵𝘁 𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗿? Eine Frage, die mir zwar keiner gestellt hat, mich selbst aber zur Zeit öfters begleitet hat. Ich habe von Zeit zu Zeit darüber sinniert, wie es mir denn geht, ob ich denn glücklich bin. Ziemlich schnell allerdings bin ich zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass ich 1. definitiv nicht glücklich bin und 2. darüber auch eigentlich nicht genauer nachdenken möchte. Dieses Verdrängen führte also dazu, dass ich mir tagtäglich in die eigene Tasche log und mir vorspielte, dass doch alles super sei. Tja, aber das ist es nicht. Ich bin weder glücklich, noch zufrieden, noch gesund. Ich hätte es einfach so gerne anders und es 𝘄𝗮𝗿 ja auch so, doch irgendwie hat es sich rückentwickelt. Natürlich ist meine Situation anders als vor vier Jahren, als der ganze Mist ins Rollen kam, aber dennoch habe ich einige Probleme. Ich muss aufhören diese klein zu reden. Ich muss aufhören, diese zu ignorieren und als nicht wichtig sondern unbedeutend zu erachten. Denn diese „Kleinigkeiten“ beeinflussen meinen Alltag und meine Lebensfreude. Sie nehmen mir so viel und trotzdem kann ich nicht akzeptieren, dass eben nicht alles perfekt ist. Nein, ich bin nicht gesund. Ich habe in letzter Zeit ein komplett gestörtes Essverhalten entwickelt, welches mich zutiefst belastet. Zudem kommen starke Depressionen, verbunden mit Antriebslosigkeit. Die letzten Wochen habe ich nicht mehr als essen und Netflix schauen geschafft. Und auch der Waschzwang ist nicht zu unterschätzen. Ich bin sensibel, reizbar, emotional und leider ein komplettes Wrack. Gestern Abend ist mir dann unter Tränen klar geworden, dass ich nicht mehr leben möchte. Zumindest nicht so. Dieses reine vor mich hin vegetieren und existieren ist nichts für mich. Ich möchte leben, Lebensfreude empfinden und Spaß haben. Lately I’ve been pondering on diet culture. Scrolling through TikTok, I’ve seen nutritionists & people with no accreditation give unsolicited nutrition advice. Many of TikTok’s users are young girls with body image issues who are trying to navigate a world with the pressures of society and social media. I want to come here today and say that eating healthy looks different for EVERYONE!!!! There is no one diet suits all!!! Healthy is what makes YOUR BODY feel good. As someone with allergies & intolerances, I share recipes that fit my needs. With saying that, I ALWAYS want people to know that ingredients are interchangeable. Just because I use tigernut flour doesn’t mean you have to go out & buy it when you are happy to have whole wheat flour. You feel me? Do what works for your body. No body is the same!!! Spring setting into my bones as I walked through the farmers market this morning. Fellow friends that I hadn’t seen for a while where embraced. Leaks are at the forefront of my cravings. Still I crave soups that colour the earth. The warmer weather has my body ready for celery. Just picked geranium from the garden to work with once it’s dried. Enjoyed my first chocolate bliss ball after a 10 day rose dieta. It’s exciting to see the spring season plants thriving again. I’m grateful for my commitment to winter. I went into the underworld, observed the darkness, understood what was there and left without taking anything. My energy feels clean and light. Excitement is oozing and this feeling is well deserved. I’ve been going back through my portfolio, came across these #blue photos that were a perfect lesson. I spent hours one night setting up what looked like a completely blue room. Flat walls/ floor of blue paper for a shoot. When I came in to the studio the next morning the paper had fallen off the wall and the “perfect” clean aesthetic was ruined. So I began tearing it down and then randomly crumbled a big piece up and stuck it back on the wall. Then one after another until I had created this textured background. Then I started calling friends like @christycurtisyoga and @olivia.rosen and boom here’s what came of it. It was another lesson in working with what is, allowing what happened to be and re created from there. A good reminder for me, right now, in this time of what sometimes feels like nothing is in flow. Morning Hair and Celery Juice 🌱 I started drinking celery juice about 2 years ago because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I was willing to do ANYTHING to just feel better. For more than a decade I could not have a scale in my home. Just bought one and now I remember why I didn’t have one for so long. I weighed 133 lbs on Friday and 139lbs today (photo taken today). If taken in snapshot, weight alone tells us nothing. It’s water and salt. We fluctuate. Muscle matters. As a recovering anorexic the number on the scale has always been the enemy/motivator for self hate and destruction. Although my first thought is STILL negative when I see that number, the next thought finally includes reason and grace. Pounds up, pounds down — I’m not changed forever, I’m alive and healthy, happy and loving life. Finally. Now I look at that number as a balance - not a one time scale. And when I look in the mirror — I see me. And I love her. (Also, this scale measures muscle and water and all that good stuff so there are cool features worth keeping - just not obsessing). - @ginger_zee on Instagram

🐬Back on dry land the last couple of days and dreaming of the watery world while I crack on with edits 🐬 I’m not a traditional wildlife camera operator, I don’t often spend weeks in a hide attempting to capture a particular behaviour, I often tell stories from a human perspective, of their interaction with the natural world. 🐟 Recently I have had a flavour of what it’s like to obsess over a species and capturing a type of behaviour and a specific shot. I’m dreaming about it. This obsession has got me out on the water more than I would usually and it’s been amazing to see how much life is out there. For years I felt unsafe in my body. . I grew up with so much self-hate, unworthiness and insecurities that I didn’t believe I deserved love. . Because of this I couldn’t give love to myself or receive it from others! 🙇🏼‍♀️ . I thought I had to BECOME someone special to be enough. . Be prettier Be smarter Work harder Please others . My worth was based on conditions. . And because of that, I attracted people and situations that reflected my inner beliefs. . I attracted people who only wanted to take. . I attracted men who treated me like a body and not a soul. . I searched and hoped and prayed that someone could come and save me and make me feel loved. . But when you search from a wounded place you only find more wounded people. . After being sexually assaulted I finally had enough. . I knew I deserved more and I was tired of keeping quiet or letting my people pleasing allow others to deplete my energy. . I took off with a one-way ticket to India and studied energy work, meditation, breathwork, yoga, and mindfulness. . I started to see the fractures in my mind, body and soul from the years of unresolved pain. . I began connecting to God. . Not the stereotypical God that I had been dismissing for all those years, but the true I AM presence, and I found home within myself thanks to this connection!✨ . I realized that safety doesn’t come from the external. . You can’t find safety in a partner, a job/money, or a piece of paper that marks you as “smart enough”... . And yet this is the trap so many of us are taught to fall into! . Safety comes from within. . It comes from you loving yourself enough to do the work, and loving yourself enough to see that you are as powerful as God because you ARE God. . Есть у меня одна задумка, конструктивная на мой взгляд и возможно будет полезна всем вам. Вы знаете, что я занимаюсь декорировании пространств и созданием композиций для интерьеров. Так вот. У меня накопилось уже достаточно материала по составлению композиций и украшению дома, проверенных опытным путем) думаю начать этим делиться. Например, сервировка или как красиво составить вещи на поверхности, что смотрится красиво, а что не очень. Как совмещать материалы, и чем я сама пользуюсь. Такая небольшая стилистическая рубрика. Это не привязано будет к какому-то стилю в интерьере, я вообще не особо люблю делить такие вещи на разряд)) просто в виде лайфхаков и возможно создам такую даже папку в актуальных. I’m delighted to be representing Goal 13 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals on Climate Action, with @togetherbandofficial 🙌🏻🌱🌏 So what does climate action mean to me? Climate action to me is about telling a new story, harnessing the necessary optimism and imagination required to build the new world we so urgently need: a more equitable society for both people AND planet. It goes way beyond switching off lightbulbs and recycling - climate action is about an intersectional approach to environmentalism. It’s about urgently reframing the climate crisis as a social justice, in the knowledge that those have done the least to cause it are disproportionately impacted. Its about humanising this crisis by sharing stories from the climate frontline. Its about an inclusive movement that amplifies the marginalised voices too long been sidelined in this movement. We must address the root causes of the broken system which has led us to this point of climate chaos. It’s about overcoming a sense of powerlessness, having the conviction that you can make an impact, whoever you are and whatever activism means to you. Actionable steps you can take right now: 1. If you’re in the UK - Email MP about the CEE bill 📧 2. If you’re in the US - register to vote 🗳 3. Switch energy provider (I can wholeheartedly recommend @bulb) 💡 4. Join an activist group and fight for systemic change 5. Support small, sustainable businesses and innovations 🎓 6. Campaign for the Green New Deal, an inspiring and urgent framework for our future societies 🌱 Today the UN Biodiversity Summit takes place #ForNature Day.
