SALT DOUGH NAME Bobby will be starting preschool in January so I thought we would start exploring some name recognition activities! Please inspire me and tag me in your name recognition posts! We made this salt dough name together and he’s super proud of it! Thank you for the idea @playwithmillie @creative.kids.play It’s a bit rough around the edges but it was handmade with love! 🌈 -——————————————————— INGREDIENTS: 🌈 1 cup of plain flour 🌈 1/2 a cup of salt 🌈 1/2 a cup of water —————————————————— STEP BY STEP: 💡 Mix together the flour and the salt. 💡 Gradually add in the water. Once it forms a dough- don’t add any more! 💡 I pressed the dough into a tray to get the rectangular shape (use baking paper....I was a wally and I couldn’t get it out very easily!!) 🤣 💡 I then used our @curious_columbus letters and pushed B o b b y into the dough to make the name imprint. 💡 Bake in the oven on the lowest setting for 3/4 hours. She loved her hair and received many compliments. 👍 When she relapsed and lost all her hair again, it was much more painful for her to go through it again. Chloe was already a shy girl and when she relapsed, she was at an age when she became more self-conscious. It was heart-breaking when we saw her affected by her hair loss. I remember one day she teased her Mummy and said, Look Mummy! After your bath, you need to dry your hair. Our Early Years students have been well engaged in the #VirtualSchoolExperience. The children in Foundation 1 – Badger class had tremendous fun on learning how to make a shaker. So much learning for this age group came from using a variety of materials to make different sounds and the vocabulary connected to this activity such as loud and soft. Exciting news, friends! I heard your requests and my “See Us. Hear Us. Love Us. print is being made into an art print. (Yay!) Head to the link in my profile to pre-order the print. I’ve been designing fabric with @robertkaufman for over 10 years and I have a feeling this will be one of my personal favorite prints EVER! The second was held after a discussion about the sun. Decided to use this as an dual opportunity for them to work on their fine motor skills through cutting. Over the years there’s been some lovely highs and some heartbreaking low moments at school for Jude. This picture is definitely up there with one of the best! For much of his school life so far, Jude has really struggled being around other kids (also shown at home by just not being able to cope around Tommy) and there would be meltdowns day after day. Their noise, their unpredictability. Being too close to them simply made him too anxious, and wouldn’t end well. In short, he just wanted to be alone. Most of his school day he’d spend at his own workstation, unwilling, and scared of mixing with his classmates. In the few moments that he did, he’d have to then have a break away from them, to help him keep it all together. Over time, things have improved for Jude (at home and at school) and he’s much less anxious than before. More recently he’s been able to spend larger parts of his day like this, happily working alongside his classmates. Rather than being scared of the other children, he’s becoming intrigued by them (if they’re not too loud 😊) Watching what they’re doing, smiling and enjoying seeing what they’re up to. Slowly, theres been more interactions, with Jude sometimes realising that he can join in with them too. With that progress, school has become a much happier place. With Jude’s reduction in anxiety, and being in a more settled state, it’s meant he can participate more and more each day. For most of the world all they’d see in this picture a 12 year old boy smiling at a toddler’s toy. Maybe they’d wonder how it could possibly be making him so happy. For those of us who ‘get’ what this picture really shows, we know just how special moments like these really are ❤️ - @storiesaboutautism on Instagram

Find the Missing Letter We had some phonics fun with finding the missing letter. We do a lot of quick phonics activities and I seen this great idea on @littleoneslearn . I used our @melissaanddougtoys letters and wrote out some of the alphabet using a marker and left some blank for my preschooler to fill in. She said the alphabet aloud and used the letters to fill them in. Towards the end she wanted to fill in all the letters and she was saying words that begin with each letter. It’s such a quick , easy learning game and a great way to practice beginning sounds , letter recognition and to just have some fun with the alphabet. . .
