LA CASITA DEL ARROYO, CONSTANZA 🌲✨ . . Si hay algo que identifica mi época favorita del año🎅🏻, es el friito🥶. Desde pequeña, mi familia era andariega, y siempre en las navidades viajabamos a distintos destinos de ❄️; una cabañita, muchos 🌲, luces de navidad, frío, chocolate caliente y familia. Este sentimiento “hogareño” se despertó en mi en @lacasitadelarroyo . . . Me causó mucha gracia como @mamipulpord se refiere a este hospedaje en diminutivo, pero cuando llegué ahí me di cuenta que un lugar de tanta paz solo se puede hablar con cariño💕. Y lo que se siente al estar ahí es grande. . . La Casita del Arroyo, es una casa rústica privada, a 2h aproximadas desde Santo Domingo 🚗 (no necesitas 4x4). Cuenta con 5 habitaciones, donde tienes el privilegio de dormir con las ventanas abiertas, un aire acondicionado natural y las sinfonías del río que pasa por sus alrededores. Sus áreas sociales son super cozy: una salita con chimenea, su comedor con ventanas al patio, un gazebo aparte destinados para juegos (🎱, futbolín), y mi parte favorita: la terraza techada con su jacuzzi y hamaca (inserte 🎶 de navidad aquí). . . Este viaje a Constanza se planificó hace un tiempito para cubrir algunas experiencias de la zona. “Aventureros” al fin, optamos con sólo llevar unas cuantas “picaderitas”, y comprar productos orgánicos de la zona para que el super “chef” 👨🍳 @viajandocorto nos hiciera un cocinao’ en la noche. ¿Ustedes saben que no nos dio el tiempo de comprar nada, y que llegamos a la casa solo con la picaderas, 3 botellas de 🍷 y UNA botella de agua? 😅 (gracias @labodegard por salvarnos la noche). MORALEJA: vayan siempre preparados. 🤦🏼♀️🤣 . . Tenemos que resaltar el trato y detalles de su anfitriona, que hicieron de la estadía más amena, alegrándonos con productos de su huerto🍃, y unos dulces de @chefnatalierd [prueben su PECAN PIE - WOW - fue nuestro desayuno🤩]. . . Te recomiendo venir por no menos de 2 noches 🌙 (querrás quedarte más). A 5 minutos caminando tienes el famoso “Arroyazo” de la Reserva que tanto amo 💚 y donde tengo tantos recuerdos, “Ebano Verde” . . . Desconecta un rato. 💚 la montaña te espera. As Catholics, we’re called to live in hope and to trust God despite whatever. Does that mean our lives are perfect and devoid of suffering? In short, no. 🖤Blessed Virgin Mary saw her beloved Son whipped and wounded, disfigured and spat on, a heavy cross resting on His precious shoulder, blood and sweat running down His Holy Face. 🤍According to the Revelations of St. Bridget, Our Lord Jesus had to wipe off the blood from His eyes in order to be able to see His Blessed Mother. How deep was the sorrow in our Mother’s Immaculate Heart? Grief beyond measure. Yet, Her FIAT remained intact. 🖤Do we act the same way? Do we graciously accept Our Lord’s Will and accompany Him carrying our crosses the way Our Blessed Mother did? Our Lady always knew her life would be deeply tied to sorrow and grief, but she didn’t demand God to take that weight off her. She accompanied Our Lord Jesus all her life and valiantly stood by the cross, no hesitation, no looking back but accepting God’s Will with love and patience, with faith and hope. 🤍Let’s entrust ourselves to Our Lady of Sorrows by meditating on everything that grieved her heart. 🔥Support indigenous fire brigades as they prepare to for the coming forest fire season 🌲 Over the past weeks, members of Guardians of the Forest have taken to social media to raise awareness of how covid-19 is affecting indigenous communities in the Amazon, putting the lungs of the earth in vital danger. @guardiansesbos is a coalition of indigenous communities who protect the worlds forests from the devastating fires that occur ever year. Right now, their health is under threat from covid-19. Living in isolated communities, the Guardians of the Forest have limited access to health systems and sanitary items and their immune systems have a higher vulnerability to foreign diseases. Add to this the fact that their exposure to covid-19 is increased by illegal miners and loggers taking advantage of the pandemic to continue their devastation unheeded. On behalf of indigenous brothers and sisters in Ecuador and on behalf of my ancestors, I posted this thread. This is now Part 2 of this topic and it’s so sad to see that I even have to make a post about it. Racism in Ecuador happens so frequently and has been happening for so long that it is something normalized. You might have come across racism hearing or engaging in a conversation with someone and didn’t pay much attention to it. You might have come across racism simply watching national TV where reporters either slip in a derogatory term, news outlets lacking coverage of critical information of indigenous communities, or “comedy shows” portraying indigenous people as lazy, dirty, etc. or even in carnivals where white/ mestizo/as culturally appropriate indigenous clothing. We also can not forget that indigenous people often lack access to a good education, health, rights to their land against industries that invade and exploit their territories, are falsely accused of terrorism for standing up for their rights, and many indigenous sisters are murdered, raped, and kidnapped. Even in the way people interact/ show body language when they encounter an indigenous person. These are all forms of racism and is anti-indigenous. Yesterday and this morning I came across a post that was appropriating the culture of indigenous people in a Ecuador. If you are white or mestizo wearing indigenous clothes or altering them to over-sexualize it, that is racism and cultural appropriation. It’s not just “pieces of cloth”, and certainly not a costume. Do you know how many indigenous people were violently racialized because they wore their traditional clothing outside? It symbolizes resistance, it symbolizes their struggles in society as an indigenous person. It’s simple: if you are not indigenous, don’t wear it. As for productions and agencies, I strongly suggest that you educate yourselves before committing something racist.
