Hathras Rape Case: At around 11am on 29th September, after the Bhim army chief has left the premises of Safdarjung along with the father of the victim, Azad was arrested and taken to an undisclosed location. There were more than 600 detentions today at the national capital as people took to the streets in several parts of New Delhi. Protestors were brutally beaten up after they were detained from India Gate and taken to Mandir Marg Police Station. The Hathras Rape Case is unveiling the horrors of being an oppressed community in a brahmanical patriarchal society. After alleged delays in police action and medical intervention, the victim died yesterday, succumbing to the multiple injuries and trauma. Not leaving any time to mourn for the deceased, the police took away the body of the girl from the national capital to the village, 200 kms away, without seeking consent of the family. The authorities didnt stop here, while the family cried and requested some time to see her and mourn her, the police persuaded them to carry out the last rites at night only. The relatives of the victim too asked the authorities to allow them to do the last rite according to their customs and wait till the morning for cremation. Despite this, the body of the victim was cremated by the police and district authorities at 3 am, this morning. The police were resisted by the angry villagers at the village. The forced funeral has furthered the outrage. The opposition parties took it as an opportunity to target the government. Tweets by political leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi and Arwind Kejriwal; and actors like Akshay Kumar and Farhan Akhtar condemning the case have been pouring in. The Yogi Adityanath government has ordered a probe by three member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case and the CM also ordered the trial of the case in a fast track court. They spent time with bus drivers, King County Metro Staff, riders, and transit-lovers alike. An estimate of 690 million people are going hungry, 2 billion suffering from malnutrition even though there is enough food, and resources for all‼️ . Hunger is in many cases a result of wars, plagues and adverse weather conditions. 🔺The FAOs 2017 report discussed three principal reasons for the recent increase in hunger: 1. climate 2. conflict 3. economic slowdowns. . What is more is that according to a report published by the World Bank, 60% of those who are hungry are female!🚺 . Many organisations are working tirelessly towards making the world Hunger free or providing as many as they can with the basic nutritional needs. But it all starts with you, and heres what we as an individual can do to help eradicate hunger from the World:-- ✓Please please dont waste FOOD! It is a blessing that you are being provided with food to eat. Respect it.🙏 ✓Dont throw away the food which you are unable to eat. You can give it to a person who is in need of it more than you. For the latest episode of Bow Down, I absolutely loved talking with the renowned Kenyan / British ceramic artist Magdalene Odundo about her admiration for Ladi Kwali, who taught her in the early 1970s at the Pottery Training Centre that was established by Michael Cardew in Abuja in the 1950s. This Week in History Building a Global Community President Bill Clinton made his second multi-country visit to Africa in August 2000 joined by Chelsea Clinton. The trip followed shortly after passage of the African Growth and Opportunity Act and focused on regional peacekeeping efforts. In Nigeria, President Clinton met with President Olusegun Obasanjo and addressed the National Assembly. In Tanzania, he attended a peace conference that ended the civil war in Burundi. The trip concluded with a stop in Egypt. During remarks to a joint session of the Nigerian National Assembly in Abuja, President Clinton said, “I have worked to build a new relationship between America and Africa because our futures are indivisible. It matters to us whether you become an engine of growth and opportunity or a place of unrelieved despair. It matters whether we push back the forces of crime, corruption, and disease together or leave them to divide and conquer us. It matters whether we reach out with Africans to build peace or leave millions of Gods children to suffer alone.” President Clinton has continued to work in Africa through the @clintonfoundation’s focus on strengthening health systems and expanding access to life saving treatments; providing farmers with tools they need to increase their incomes and strengthen their communities; and addressing climate change by protecting forests and watersheds and making cities more sustainable. De jonge vrouwen worden vaak misbruikt en mishandeld. Ze worden verwaarloosd, mogen het huis van de man niet meer verlaten, zijn geoorloofd kinderen te baren en op te voeden, en te zorgen in huis. De kinderen verlaten dus hun eigen familie om in die van de schoonfamilie te werken. Dit is tot op de dag van vandaag nogsteeds een stille ramp. Vorrei iniziare così la mia carriera da Videomaker, in 21:9, in un posto speciale, in un posto dove non avrei mai pensato, fino a pochi mesi fa, di venire. Spesso si sente parlare di terzo mondo, si vedono immagini alla tv e si ascoltano testimonianze di volontari che hanno vissuto in queste terre.. ora mi trovo nel terzo paese più povero al mondo, e posso dire che finché non si vede con i propri occhi, non si ha la minima idea di cosa significhi vivere in questo paese, l’Etiopia. Ho in testa questa immagine da parecchio tempo, e finalmente sono riuscito a catturarla. Lui è Babi, un piccolo gnomo del villaggio Madonna della vita ad Addis Abeba, villaggio creato da un uomo dal cuore enorme, indescrivibile. In 2016 and early 2017, I travelled to 7 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe to work on the story Why Vaccines Matter published in the current issue of National Geographic Magazine. Here, two children are being registered to be vaccinated in the church of Nzerret, a small village in northern Democratic Republic of Congo, where a measles outbreak erupted in May 2016. MSF (Doctors without borders) response was to start an emergency vaccination campaign during which nearly 40 000 children under 15 have been vaccinated in 8 days in the region around Nzerret. Street style back in the days History first mentions cotton-weaving in Nepal during the Asoka period in the second century AD. Due to the harsh winter weather in Nepal rugs, carpets, blankets and clothes were first described as being woven from yak, sheep and rabbit. There’s big business in the textile industry throughout the Kathmandu valley in Nepal today. Cotton is largely grown by farmers in Gorkha, Tanahu and the Dang districts of western Nepal. Imports of raw cotton bales are also brought in from India. This movie has been in my watchlist for almost a year now and I regret for not watching it earlier.. The pathos of the film carried throughout made my heart heavy.. I cant even start to describe how the movie was, without mentioning the protagonist of the film, Zain al Rafeea, who is an actual syrian refugee turned actor. The pain and struggles he faced in his life will reflect in his face and eyes throughout the film. I suggest everyone should watch this film atleast once in their lifetime.
