I hate to admit that I cried when I read the last word in the epilogue. After so much hard work, and falling into love with the characters, it was hard to let the book go. Attention ⚠️ This is your daily reminder to enjoy life - even if that means cutting down on the things you ‘should’ be doing in order to read a book, take a afternoon walk or a nap in the sun, or just sit with some food and Netflix. 1 Year Update!❤️ . . Nora was adopted almost a year ago in October 2019. Her family fell head over heels for her, and decided to adopt her a little kitten friend this past July from our Stouffville location . . “Nora has grown from an adorable, loving kitten to an adorable, loving mature young lady. She is beautiful, both inside and out. She is smart, playful, attentive and healthy. She spends hours in our garden in the company of birds, squirrels, raccoons, chipmunks, grasshoppers, the fish in our koi pond and now Maya.  In the evening she joins me in watching hockey games or whatever, perched in her loft at the top of my sofa. She occasionally sleeps with us at night, but most often chooses the sanctuary of her travel bag, set up to be both a cat-cave and rest place. Its the only place Maya is not allowed to enter.   She eats well, loves treats, and has befriended Maya like a big sister, teaching her all the secrets of both house and garden. As a baby she was a snuggler, as the thousands of minute scars on my legs from scrabbling up my pyjamas will attest to, but now she prefers to choose her time to share space, occasionally napping with me in the afternoons on hot days.  In summary, she has brought joy and happiness to everyone in my family and is much loved by us all.  Thank you and all your colleagues for your hard work in finding homes for these wonderful animals.” . . 🟣 Recebi esse livro em parceria com o autor Danilo Morales. #leianacional  ⁣ 📖 Inicialmente, a edição do livro é linda, com direito a uma capa maravilhosa.  É dividido em três partes e os capítulos são bem organizados. A escrita do autor é surpreendente. Construiu uma história de terror, com suspense e misticismo.  É notável o estudo que o autor realizou para escrever a obra (inclusive, ele disponibilizou suas referências bibliográficas) e isso me impressionou muito. 

📖 A obra gira em torno da história de Nina Maria Monteiro Adágio, uma personagem forte e suprema, com a narrativa feita em terceira pessoa.⁣  ⁣ Após alguns episódios traumáticos em sua vida, Nina resolve sair de sua cidade natal e ir em busca de um recomeço. Na nova cidade, conhece Angel, que lhe apresenta um novo mundo de oportunidades: a magia.⁣  ⁣ A partir daí, a protagonista se descobre muito além da média em questões sobrenaturais e passa a se interessar por o lado mais sombrio da magia, adentrando em um mundo diabólico, visando causar sofrimento a todos que a fizeram sofrer. Momento este em que somos apresentados a novos personagens e a um mundo de bruxarias, feitiços e rituais.⁣  ⁣ 🟣 Pois bem. Eu me envolvi muito com o livro na primeira parte. Pude sentir as mágoas e angústias da protagonista. Uma coisa era clara, Nina buscava vingança. Já as duas últimas partes, seguiram por um caminho que eu não imaginava, com alguns acontecimentos muito breves e sem muitos detalhes (o que não tira o brilho da obra).⁣  ⁣ Não senti medo durante a leitura, embora algumas cenas podem causar um desconforto, mas fiquei apreensiva com o desenrolar da história. O final do livro me pegou desprevenida, fui surpreendida de uma forma boa e passei a me perguntar se teremos uma continuação... já estou no aguardo.⁣  ⁣ 📚 Por fim, recomendo muito a leitura, especialmente para os adoradores de bruxaria e terror. Leitura rápida, tendo em vista que a obra te prende desde o início.  ⁣  ⁣ 🆘 Pode conter gatilhos de violência, estupro e sacrifício de animais.⁣ ⁣ E vocês, já conheciam “Suprema”? 🗑️ A ZERO WASTE LIFE IN 30 DAYS - Interested in a zero waste lifestyle? 🗑️⁣ ⁣ This is a great book to anyone who’s interested in zero waste but don’t know where to get started. I found this book very straight forward, inspiring and easy to read. I loved that she included minimalism as a topic (decluttering and self growth etc). ⁣ ⁣ Every chapter is easy to read and each⁣ day is a new step towards a zero waste life. The only minus in my opinion is that the steps were placed in an odd order. I would switch it up a bit.⁣ ⁣ Her chapter about “maintaining minimalism” was a nice reminder to keep on decluttering and got me motivated to keep on dealing with our storage. I became small and anxious and quiet and insecure. but through recovery, I’ve started to see so much of that come back. I’m loud and passionate and sassy again. and it makes me so happy to think that the little girl smiling and laughing and eating ice cream and playfully posing in this picture is still inside me, somewhere. it makes me so so so happy to know she’s back. #WTWDE - @poeticpoison on Instagram

Last night I was about to go sleep when a message came through to me, I felt like it was from my higher self or angels. I felt this message was very special as it could help people see that they arent crazy and when i wrote it down, I said to myself wow thats beautiful. Hopefully you will see the beauty in this message aswell. 👼🏻 Most of us at one time or another think there is something wrong with us, that we are damaged goods, that were crazy. We need to stop believing that its us and start seeing that the world we live in is crazy and not us. This world makes us go crazy. We are unique, individual and different in our own little ways but are told that those qualities arent ideal. We are so used to this insane world that we start to believe that the world we live in is sane and that we are insane. When the society, our beliefs, TV and gadgets and negativity are driving us crazy. We are beings of light, love, generosity, compassion and understanding but we live not in that world so of course we are going to not feel sane all the time. Já tomaram sua Poção polissuco hoje? dessa vez eu trouxe o Snape da 25 de março para a sua linha do tempo para anunciar mais um POST sobre minha saga Lendo Harry Potter. Hahaha ⠀ ⠀ 💭Quando comecei essa leitura, pensei comigo que o segundo livro de uma série costuma ser parados e repetitivo, em grande parte, muitos são apenas uma ponte na história tentando agregar o primeiro aos demais e que talvez eu demorasse a ler por causa disso, mas eu me enganei e muito já que nesse caso isso não acontece. ⠀ ⠀ 💭 Harry Potter e a Câmara secreta é cheio de aventura e da pequenos passos em direção a uma trama política que pode desencadear em algo maior mais a frente. Temos novos personagens, aventuras e magias, além se fragmentos do passado da escola que ligam Harry Potter a Lorde Voldemort e destacam Dumbledore e também a família Malfoy, que ganha mais evidência aqui. ⠀ ⠀ 💭A maior diferença que notei entre o livro e os filmes foram a Gina, que aqui aparece muito mais, as explicações mais diretas sobre como a Câmara secreta foi aberta e também o fato de termos vários possíveis Herdeiros de Salazar Sonserina e não apenas 2 como no filme. Aqui a forma como eles falam, agem e os segredos escondidos são vistos como pistas e isso é instigante e foi o que me fez devorar o livro. Também temos os Weasley recebendo maior destaque na trama, Dobby que me irritou um pouco mas foi mais útil do que nos filmes e várias cenas que foram exageradas para as telas mas aqui ficaram mais aceitáveis, sem muito drama. ⠀ ⠀ 💭Uma única coisa que me incomodou foi que a cena final, que seria o ápice do livro, aconteceu rápido demais e alguns detalhes ficaram esquecidos, sendo colocados apenas nas últimas 2 páginas do livro. “La sangre manda” de Stephen King. . OPINIÓN PERSONAL: Nada más que por leer la tercera novela corta, de las cuatro que incluye esta recopilación, ya merece la pena hacerte con una copia. La historia, que además es la más extensa y la que da título al libro, es una especie de secuela de una novela anterior (El visitante). Intriga, suspense y fantasía al mejor y más puro estilo Stephen King. Leerla ha sido una experiencia extraordinaria. Pero vayamos por orden. En la primera, “El teléfono del señor Harrigan”, aparece el King más clásico de todos. A través de la relación entre un niño de 12 años y un anciano, King, vuelve a ofrecernos algunos de esos pasajes góticos con un pie en el más allá que tanto nos gusta. La siguiente, “La vida de Chuck”, es sin duda la más ambiciosa de todas y aunque la historia parte de una idea brillante y está montada de forma muy original e interesante, el desenlace no le hace justicia, desluce y ensombrece el conjunto. La última, “La rata”, es un bombón del más exquisito chocolate para todos aquellos amantes de la escritura. Gracias al protagonista de la historia, un escritor llamado Drew, King nos obsequia con algunos secretos a la hora de escribir y hace hincapié en el estrés y la angustia que pude llegar a sufrir un autor. La trama está aderezada con toques psicológicos cargados de fantasía que plantean una cuestión: ¿Hasta dónde es capaz de llegar un escritor para conseguir el éxito? En definitiva, La sangre manda, es una colección de cuatro novelas que dejarán a los seguidores, y no tan seguidores de King, con ganas de más. Tramas muy adictivas protagonizadas por personajes que salen de las manos de uno de los grandes maestros de la novela de suspense. ¡Hola!✨ Hoy vengo a hablaros de mi última lectura, en colaboración con @editorialhidra y a la que le agradezco enormemente que me hiciera llegar un ejemplar♥ . “Chicas salvajes” de Rory Power nos cuenta la historia de unas chicas que se ven obligadas a hacer cuarentena en una academia en la isla de Raxter debido al virus Tox. Este virus se contagia por contacto y afecta tanto a personas como a animales y plantas, cambiando y modificando genéticamente a todo aquel que se infecta. Nuestra protagonista es Hetty, a la que siempre acompañan sus dos amigas, Byatt y Reese. Los días y los meses pasan en la academia esperando que el gobierno de con una cura y las saquen de la isla. Mientras tanto las chicas tienen que guardar cuarentena y no pueden salir al exterior sin autorización. Pero cuando una de las mejores amigas de Hetty desaparece, ésta romperá las normas para ir en su búsqueda. . Cuando leí la sinopsis de este libro me llamó mucho la atención porque me pareció diferente y original. Además, lo venden como una novela feminista y de terror, dos ingredientes que me gustan por separado y que pensé que en esta historia podrían encajar a la perfección juntos. Pero en mi opinión y después de haber leído la novela, tengo que decir que ni da miedo ni le vi el feminismo por ningún lado🤷🏼‍♀️ La premisa era MUY buena y atrayente y me da mucha rabia que la historia no esté bien desarrollada porque tiene un potencial increíble. Hubiera funcionado mucho mejor si la autora nos explicara más sobre el virus y se centrara más en la supervivencia y no en un romance que se queda a medio gas y sin desarrollar. . Las protagonistas no me dijeron nada ni llegué a empatizar con ellas, resultándome mucho más atractivos e interesantes los personajes secundarios. Eso sí, la historia te mantiene en tensión y con intriga hasta el final y se lee muy bien, ya que cuenta con capítulos cortos y tiene un lenguaje sencillo que agiliza mucho la lectura. . En cuanto al final, decir que me decepcionó bastante porque se queda abierto y con mil incógnitas sin resolver. Por eso, no puedo darle más que 2,5⭐️ . ¿Lo habéis leído? ¿Qué os pareció a vosotrxs? Ive also made a list of things to do when youre at home social distancing or in quarantine. ⠀⠀ Alone: - Blast your favorite music and dance like no ones watching. - Treat yourself. Whether that be with cake, fruit salad or a spa evening. - Read a book you never thought you would read. ⠀⠀ With family/friends: - Play online games - Watch a movie with Netflix Party - Have a nice dinner over skype/zoom ⠀⠀ Just remember that having both tough and blissful days is ok. It’s taken me awhile to write this but I’ve been more public recently about the diagnosis: RACISM. It’s in my blood. Symptoms include thoughts of supremacy and neurotic fears that there’s not enough to go around. . I used to think the word was a character assassination. “There’s not a racist bone in my body!” But now I know, it’s even deeper than character. . I grew up in a poisonous environment. Of course I got sick with it. Of course it affected my eyesight, my sensitivity, and my cognitive development. It took Jess and I moving across the world and seeing it in others to finally recognize the symptoms. . Professionals say people with my skin pigmentation get sick easiest. And we’re prone to pass it on without realizing. So even now a lot of us are sick without knowing it. Our bones feel fine. But it’s in our blood. . Denial is a normal response to sickness. But there’s no use being defensive. No use living in personal guilt for the environment that made us sick. I didn’t get myself sick. But it is communicable. And if I don’t work to change the environment, the toxins will continue to poison more and more people. And I’m responsible for that. . I wrote the most vulnerable, page-turning, edge-of-your-seat story I could write in my new book *Love Anyway* so I could talk about the environment that’s been making us sick for so long. . *Love Anyway* is my lens, but it’s not a weather report about one person, place, or time. Se engana quem pensa que Harry Potter tem uma idade certa para ser lido. Claro que cada experiência vivida em algum momento da vida será diferente, mas isso não anula o fato que sempre pode ser uma experiência incrível. ⠀ ⠀ Um dos meus gêneros favoritos é fantasia e eu adoro livro infanto-juvenil, então sempre soube que gostaria, mas nunca imaginei que fosse tanto. ⠀ ⠀ Eu estava decidida a não fazer postagens grandes sobre cada livro lido da série, mas depois de terminar o terceiro não consegui não vir aqui falar dele. ⠀ ⠀ Mais uma vez os detalhes são descritos de maneira impressionante e cada mínimo acontecimento faz parte de algo maior que já estava previsto, tudo se liga e tudo faz sentido. ⠀ ⠀ Algo que surgiu no primeiro livro se torna essencial no decorrer da história e sei que isso ainda vai acontecer nos próximos e fico encantada com a relação dos fatos. ⠀ ⠀ A leitura de Harry Potter e o Prisioneiro de Azkaban (J.K Rowling - tradução Lia Wyler) começou boa e fluida, mas sem grandes acontecimentos. Porém, em uns 70% do livro teve um plot que me deixou extremamente emocionada... e sim, chorei, xinguei, me surpreendi, me maravilhei e quase tive um troço até o livro terminar... Sem mais acontecimentos para não dar spoiler dos anteriores, esse tem absolutamente tudo pra ser o meu livro favorito da série! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 📖 Ele pegou a varinha, tocou no pergaminho de leve e disse: Juro solenemente que não pretendo fazer nada de bom. (página 130) ⠀ ⠀ Minha mãe também leu toda a série esse ano e amouuu. I’m sure that the majority of us would love to go to a magic school, but would you still want to go if the school was actively trying to kill you? After reading “A Deadly Education” by Naomi Novik I think I’d probably pass on attending the Scholomance. 😂😅. I’d like to THINK I’m tough enough to deal with a school full of monsters that make it dangerous to go to the bathroom, but it sounds exhausting trying to be on your guard the whole time! 📖 “A Deadly Education” was one of my top anticipated releases this year and it did not disappoint. Thank you to @penguinrandomhouse for gifting me this copy. I devoured this book in a day. While I enjoyed the characters (and really loved main character Galadriel) it was the world building of this book that was the star for me. I loved reading about how the magic works! The magic system was super fascinating and not like anything I’d ever read before. The rules and dynamics of the school and how students learn magic there was equally fascinating and I felt completely immersed in this school. 📖 I know a lot of people are anticipating this book so I’m not going to say too much about it this early on. But if you like strong characters, focus on friendships, and interesting magic I highly recommend this book. I’m a huge Naomi Novik fan and this is a book I’ll read again and again. This book is just hitting shelves and I’m already DYING for the next book in this series. *cries wretchedly* 📖 Also, to note, this book is written in a way that if not for the occasional “F-word” (I think there was 2 or 3) I’d hand this to any 12+ and up kid without any reservations. Będziesz przeżywał i walił piąstkami, jak małe dziecko. Ogarnie Cię ciemność. Ogarnie Cię wszechogarniający niepokój. Słuchasz? Słuchaj. Dunkel to rzecz transowa, szalona i tak inna. Pamiętasz Ćmę? Ona też była dzika, a nie polubiłaś się z nią? A może nie polubiłeś? To nieistotne teraz. Teraz Dunkel. Historia, która jest zupełnie inna. W zasadzie na każdej płaszczyźnie. Powieść ta kłuje. Oj drapie i rani. Jest dojrzała, odważna i dramatyczna. Jest o rodzinie, o historii i o ludziach. Myślisz, że to saga rodzinna? Owszem, tak. Ale jest też opowieść o ciemności. Słuchasz? Myślisz, że to horror? Nie. To groza. To weird fiction, a nie jakieś Edwardy Lee. Ale tak, ta historia straszy, ale nie wprost. Straszy pod skórą. Pełza pod nią i pokazuje, że Jakub Bielawski lubi kiedy czytelnik smuta. I tak powiesz, że nie zrozumiałeś, zrozumiałaś tej historii. To pomyśl. Pomyśl o Franku, o Władku. O ich losach. Nie smutno Ci? Dunkel to dowód na to, że autor potrafi w napisanie książki historycznej. Umie operować słowem, potrafi zbudować atmosferą i być nietuzinkowy. Można porównywać do Twardocha, można do Radka Raka, można trochę do Wojtka Gunii, ale to przede wszystkim książka Bielawskiego. I choć to lektura wymagająca i niełatwa, to jako całość czytało mi się fantastycznie. Polubiłem charakterystyczny styl autora, a w Dunkelu wszedł on jakby na wyższy level. I to na pewno nie jest książka dla wszystkich. Nie jest mainstreamową papką, która każdemu dogodzi. Za to warto dać jej szansę. Zanurzyć się w świat autora. Tu tyle scen zapada w pamięć, ale Brzózka mnie kompletnie zniszczyła i wprowadziła w stan dyskomfortu. Polecam dać szanse. Może akurat zaiskrzy. Powinno. W końcu jesień. Po co być uśmiechniętym. Całość opatrzona została świetnymi grafikami i posłowiem. I to nie byle jakim posłowiem, bo samego Wojtka Gunii. @wydawnictwo_vesper dzięki za książkę. As I posted in my stories a while ago, I will no longer be selling HP candles in my shop due to JK Rowling’s numerous and continued harmful attacks on the trans community. I still believe we can continue to love HP without supporting the author but it is also hard to separate the art from the artist. In any case, I will still be discontinuing them from my shop. (You can buy HP merch from a million other places but if you do so I suggest buying unlicensed fan-made merch from a small business so no money goes to JKR) . For every HP candle purchased, 100% of the profits will be donated to the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center ( @bradburysullivanlgbtcenter ). There are so many great places to donate to but I decided to support this amazing local non-profit here in the Lehigh Valley. The Bradbury-Sullivan center provides enriching arts & culture programs, health programs, LGBT youth programs, critical supportive services, a Training Institute, and organizes the region’s annual pride festival (which will be virtual this year!). Having a reorganization day really helps put the mind at ease, too. • I found a few emotional cards and letters from my past today that made me stop and think hard about my goals and what I want. Also, I wonder, are family and people who loved me proud of where I am now? Am I proud of where I am, and what I’ve accomplished so far in my life? So many academic accolades and awards that never amounted to anything... it’s heavy. It’s hard. And it’s these questions that force you to look inwardly and help guide you forward. • I want to travel more and be inspirational. If I even touch one of you or inspire you to be greater and become something more, it’s more than I could ever ask for. • Thank you all for sticking with me.
