We held our annual Partners Meeting the past few days online with people from all over the world - and I have to say I missed seeing so many friends and colleagues in person. There is so much normal all of us are doing at this point - but you still have those days and memories of dressing up and having cocktails with humans - catching up in person, hugging, and doing all the things you cant do on stale and formal video chats every day. For Heidi and I - the annual meetings were the first times we would travel without the kids when we were younger - which, at the time, was a very big deal in our lives. ⠀ Heres to next year - to coming out of this craptacular year we find ourselves in. It was 40 years ago today, Terry Fox had to stop his Marathon of Hope outside Thunder Bay, Ontario because his cancer had spread. On this day, comes the release of a new book, Forever Terry A Legacy of Letters. Forty letters from Canadians describing the impact Terry had on them. The book is edited by Terry’s younger brother, Darrell. All proceeds from the book go to the @terryfoxfoundation to help support cancer research. A PICTURE PAINTS 1000 WORDS. BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN IT SPEAKS THE TRUTH. Hello everyone - and happy Sunday! Im Rebekah, founder (and chief guinea pig!) of MPowder (you know, the one who prefers to hide behind the scenes and focus on research and development stuff, but is occasionally nudged outside!) This image, taken a few weeks ago when summer was still here, is a vision of calm. And, the mood was entirely the result of the amazing photographer @bethcrockatt (thanks Beth!). Because the reality is, as this shot was taken, my head was whirring with the imminent launch of our first powder blend, the fact that our cinnamon had been delayed at the port and that, I kid you not, one of the less anticipated knock-on effects of the current environment has been a worldwide shortage of recycled cardboard. So, as we prepare to open our online stores doors tomorrow, it felt right to share 3 truths Ive learned on my menopause journey: 1/ In midlife, genuine passion for what you do can help you deal with pretty much anything chucked at you. Women are often under-estimated - but, in my case, Ive learned the biggest offender through much of my life, has been me. 2/ Menopause is messy. But then, so is life. Its definitely not something to be scared of, embarrassed by - or to ignore. When I reflect on the last 3 years of my life in peri-menopause I am grateful for what my body and mind made me change. Im healthier, more comfortable in my own skin. The best bit? Connecting with women - here - and in my social circle, with honesty. 3/ There is a correlation between age and achievement - just not in the way youd assume. We have the potential to achieve so much in midlife, precisely because weve lived. Those lines we work so hard to disguise, track our experience, our joy and pain - and give us a map to move forward. Nascida em uma pequena cidade no interior do Rio Grande do Sul, Gisele cresceu em uma casa simples, com mais cinco irmãs, onde, por muito tempo, seu maior sonho era se tornar jogadora de vôlei. Por ser alta e magra, seus colegas a apelidavam de Olívia Palito, como ela mesma já contou em diversas entrevistas. ⠀ A história de Gisele no mundo da moda começou aos 13 anos, quando ela foi orientada por um médico a melhorar sua postura, e procurou por um curso de passarela que pudesse ajudá-la a corrigir esse problema. Este curso, era ministado por Dilson Stein, que logo enxergou seu potencial e orientou sua família a investir na modelo. ⠀ “Quando bati o olho nela, me deu um estalo. Comentei que ela poderia ser uma das melhores modelos do mundo”, Dilson Stein. ⠀ Inicialmente, Valdir Bündchen, pai de Gisele, foi contra a ideia, mas acabou se convencendo do talento da filha e viajou até São Paulo para negociar o planejamento de carreira da modelo, junto à Elite, uma das agências que se interessou por Gisele, após a orientação de Dilson Stein. ⠀ Depois disso, em 1994, ela participou de um concurso e ficou em segundo lugar. Foi quando mudou-se para São Paulo e passou a morar com mais oito meninas. ⠀ Em São Paulo, ela participou de um novo concurso, onde ficou em quarto lugar e teve a oportunidade de desfilar no Fashion Week, de Nova York.
