Back by popular demand: Doggie dip day is here for a second round! The event takes place at Briarwood Park, 2235 Briarwood Way, Saturday, Oct. 3, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to COVID-19, participants must register for hour-long blocks beforehand, and only two humans per dog are allowed. Dog owners will only be allowed to wade into the pools up to their knees, and lifeguards will be present. Cost is $10 per dog per hour. Participants are allowed to sign up for multiple hours, but will need to pay $10 for each time slot per dog. Pet owners will also need to sign a COVID-19 pool waiver upon arrival. Shot over two successive winters, “Swimmers” documents the women who swim in London’s Hampstead Heath Ladies Pond year-round, in water temperatures reaching as low as -1 Celsius. In the darkest months the pond freezes over almost completely, and the space to swim in shrinks to a fraction; the women, undeterred, swim up to the ices edge to hear it creak and sing. These photographs bear witness to their exhilaration, their boldness, and the beauty and purity of the pond itself. The Pond bridges the gap between the everyday and the extraordinary. The Sacred Pause For months, I’ve been preparing to pause. Building momentum, consistency, stability in my business. Reflecting on what a pause would need, would mean. Now, I get to deepen relationships with my current and former clients. To move into a space of deep surrender, stillness. The place where my next phase lives. The place where instruction from Source around how my dharma is evolving, and what I’m here to do lives. It’s easy to get swept up by the momentum of my business. By feeling the chase, the challenge. I thrive in an environment of what next, creation, growth. Choosing stillness is harder for me. Choosing trust is harder for me. Choosing being instead of doing, listening instead of speaking, responding instead of reacting. All the signatures of winter, embodied through my being. As I welcome this season, I’m turning to the Full Moon and how it’s illuminating the wounded healer in us all. Why do you do what you do? Desire what you desire? Create what you create? This year, these last 3 months, what have you birthed? Created? What legacy have you left in your wake? What motivations fueled those creations? One piece I have been deeply present to is my relationship to Instagram and Facebook. I love connecting. I love writing and videos and sharing. And, the process slipped into habit. My relationship with these platforms lost its ritual, lost its sacredness. I forgot to protect my energy and enforce my own boundaries. And so, I pause. Step back. Reset. NEW WORK! I am so excited to share these images over the next few days. Its a start of a new series Im calling A New Light.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I worked with the talented and stunning Alexis Turner @sparkle4every1 . When brainstorming for our shoot, we discussed her personal experiences of being a woman of color in America, especially how she had been treated growing up in the world of ballet and how she is frequently asked to act and look on camera as a Black female model. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She is so often asked to portray the strong, powerful Black woman on shoots, when that is not all of who she is. The side of her that is soft, serene, graceful, and playful are rarely portrayed.
