Here’s Raphidophora korthalsii ( kor thal see eye) in my Bali TV room, growing on Tree Fern panels because moss breaks down way too fast in the equatorial tropics. People often ask me “can I use coir fiber for my totems”? Of course you can but the purpose of a totem in an indoor environment is twofold, it acts as a support but also it needs to encourage delicate aerial roots to form and grow into it by creating a microclimate around the growing stem(s). I have found tightly packed Sphagnum moss much better at this. In the tropics because of high humidity, aerial roots will grow and attach to virtually anything, in a dryer environment they have more trouble, you don’t need to keep the totem permanently moist, just wet it thoroughly whenever you water the plant, even if it looks dry on the outside, moisture remains inside for longer and believe me, roots know where there is hidden moisture. Sus flores tienen forma de platillo y son de color amarillo. 🌼 Es un endemismo local, vive en grietas de rocas entre los 1.500 y cerca de los 2.000 msnm, creciendo solo dentro del Parque Nacional La Campana. ⛰ El género Calceolaria (familia Calceolariaceae) es uno de los mejores representados en el parque, cuenta con 12 especies, de variados colores (amarillo oro, amarillo limón, púrpura) y distintas formas de vida (hierbas anuales o perennes). 🌿Любимец🌿 А точнее любимица - пеперомия бурбелла♥️ Люблю все растюхи, но особенно 💚 пеперомии😌 Первый раз увидела это чудное растение пару лет назад и сразу же влюбилась... это были жатые зеленые листочки с одной стороны, и красные с обратной, чем-то напоминающее подорожник😅 но намного интереснее! Пеперомия россо - но тогда эти слова мне не о чем не говорили, я даже не знала, что это пеперомия. Но однозначно хотела завести себе этого красавчика😍. Но, там где нашла, в наличии не было, а продавец игнорировал все сообщения и комментарии. Вот и осталось мне любоваться только на картинке. Но спустя время, случайно увидела растение на рынке возле дома. Не задумываясь, я забрала домой пеперомию россо и пару других сортов😉 Счастью не было предела! Начала изучать все о них, и тут понеслось...🙈🙈😁 Сейчас в моей коллекции 17 сортов, но это не предел 😉 А украшение коллекции - бурбелла. Как увидела, срочно начала искать, но на данный момент это редкий сорт, и найти было очень проблематично. Serve, educate, and show up. They’re not particularly fancy values for a company, but they’re what’s motivating me lately. Cause doing this, running a company, while raising babies, and navigating Covid and trying to be a good person? It’s a challenge. Every time a plant is damaged during shipping, every disappointed customer, every toddler tantrum while I’m trying to answer DMs and do the books, it’s easy to see them all as personal failures when it’s your little company. Published today, introducing Corybas circinatus, a new species of helmet orchid from Palawan, the Philippines. The paper can be viewed online here: . https://www.mapress.com/j/pt/article/view/phytotaxa.446.2.7 . This species was first documented back in 2007, found adjacent to my hammock during a climb of an ultramafic peak that had, at that time, never been summited before. I was, as is often the case, going to the bathroom at the time, having diligently rehydrated post-hike. This is a regular occurrence among novel discoveries of miniature species in botany, by the way. Corybas—helmet orchids—are relatively small and easily overlooked except by those who love them... it is one of my favourite genera, so it was certainly a lucky ...break! These plants have their centre of diversity in the Malay Archipelago and New Guinea, although a good handful of species are also found in perhumid parts of Australia, and in New Zealand and their Southern Ocean territories.⠀⠀ .⠀⠀ As for the genus name Corybas, it is derived from the Greek κορύβαντος (korybantos), the name Corybas alluding to the Korybantes, Phrygian priests who worshipped the goddess Cybele through frenzied dance, and who are often shown in illustrations wearing ornate, crested helmets. Crassulas are succulent sub-shrubs with small pink or white flowers. Native to South Africa and Mozambique, they are commonly grown as houseplants in cooler regions. Crassula Buddhas Temple is an unusual, eye-catching plant with upward facing leaves that resemble a Chinese temple. Most Crassula plants need some shade in the hottest period of summer to avoid sunburn. Growing them in a place with morning sun and afternoon shade would be the most ideal.
