COMUNICADO PÚBLICO DE LA ASAMBLEA AUTOCONVOCADA BARRIO UNIVERSITARIO DE CONCEPCIÓN Frente a los hechos ocurridos la madrugada del domingo 2 de agosto en diversas comunas ubicadas en Wallmapu (región de la Araucanía, Chile), la Asamblea Autoconvocada Barrio Universitario de Concepción declara a la opinión pública nacional e internacional lo siguiente: 1.- Condenamos tajantemente el profundo racismo expresado en los hechos de este fin de semana, en que grupos de civiles organizados por entidades de extrema derecha y amparados por el aparato represor del estado intentaron por medios extremadamente violentos desalojar ocupaciones pacíficas de edificios municipales, realizadas por comuneros mapuche. Estas ocupaciones de edificios se enmarcan en la demanda por justicia para los presos políticos mapuche en huelga de hambre hace más de 90 días diferentes cárceles del territorio , entre los cuales se encuentra el Machi Celestino Córdova, quien lleva a cabo una huelga seca y su estado de salud es muy grave. Los comuneros exigen que el estado de Chile respete su propia adscripción al convenio 169 de la OIT en sus artículos 7, 8 y 9, y lo aplique en este caso, permitiendo a los presos de pueblos originarios cumplir sus penas en arresto domiciliario, necesidad que es particularmente sensible en el caso del Machi quien en la cosmovisión del pueblo Mapuche, está sagradamente vinculado a su rewe. Observamos en estos hechos dos expresiones de racismo. En primer lugar un racismo institucional que se refleja en la celeridad de los procesos y dureza de las condenas en el caso de Luchsinger-Mackay, como ocurre hoy con el Machi Celestino Córdova; mientras que muchos casos de jóvenes comuneros mapuche asesinados por civiles o agentes del estado quedan en impunidad. Resulta, en este sentido, particularmente grave el actuar del gobierno en los hechos del sábado por medio del ministro de Interior Víctor Pérez Varela, quien se hizo presente en la región reuniéndose un día antes con policías y con los grupos de intereses latifundistas y forestales para acordar los desalojos mencionados en el párrafo anterior.
