A few days ago, we were honored to share a Zoom call with one of our heroes, @staceyabrams. Over the past couple of months weve been partnering with her organization @fairfightaction to help end voter suppression and ensure fair elections.    Stacey, apart from being warm and hilarious and a legit Death Cab fan (!!!), had some simple advice she wanted us to pass on, which well paraphrase below:    1. Make a plan to vote. Right now. Visit vote.org to find all the info for your state. Have a backup plan too - in 2020 anything can happen so it’s good to be prepared. And if you can vote early - do it!    2. Expect voter suppression in battle ground states on Election Day. Fair Fight is recruiting volunteers to help be on the ground. If you are interested in helping out, please visit fairfight2020.org for more info.    3. Remember: it is going to take some time before each state releases its official vote count. Nothing will be finalized until everyone’s ballots are counted, no matter what anyone says otherwise. Stacey is working with news outlets directly and getting them to pledge not publish articles claiming a winner until it’s officially tallied.    4. The electoral college is an outdated system that was enacted to benefit certain types of people while undermining others. The National Popular Vote movement aims to help remedy this, one state at a time. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who’s gotten involved in sticking these up, especially in Victoria. They’re still available by the way! Through it all I’ve enjoyed, more than anything, seeing people use the posters to take ownership of public space. Self expression in public space is just something I care about on a gut level. I honestly don’t know how I would have coped if I were living in Victoria; probably not very well. Everyone has a breaking point so I try not to cast judgement. Celebrating 70 years of this wonderful dad of mine being present on the face of planet Earth. (Some of you night know him as @popupswitch, or Paul!) My best friend, a loving husband, father, uncle and Bubba (grandad) to his lucky family. Spent time today writing letters to Kenosha and Wisconsin officials demanding justice for Jacob Blake. Here’s a little bit of what we had to say:⁣ ⁣ “While this is an immediate call for justice for Jacob Blake, we know that the justice we are seeking is within a broken system. We believe that the only solution to the rampant, systemic, and perpetual police brutality against Black and Brown people in the United States is to defund police forces and re-allocate those funds to social services that are better suited to address problems within the community with proportionate responses. The people have spoken, we hope that you will use the power of your office to listen with open ears to this movement.”⁣ ⁣ The police violence, brutality, and killings of Black people in the United States is intolerable, and we all have work to do if things are going to change.
