Taking on a new test knit ⤵️ I’m working on two test knits right now, and am particularly excited for the release of this one! This is the Ursina sweater by @jacquelinecieslak, a Sport (& Worsted!) weight version of her very popular Ursa sweater. This is the cropped version knit up in Cat’s Eye on Merino Sport in size one, which fits me with minimal ease. Modeled photos to come! I kind of want to make a second one in a larger size, maybe full length instead of cropped, with BFL Sport. What do you think? More importantly, which colour should I do it in?? My personal Make Nine Challenge is heading into the home stretch. My goal was nine pullovers or cardigans that truly fit. I am still of two minds on that red cardigan. Its too big, but most people would never know that, and I wore it often this summer. Im still counting it, but I reserve the right to change my mind. So our Tahoe trip is canceled 😞 We ended up stuck in 5 hours of traffic on I-80 and had to turn around because of the fires. It feels silly to be sad about a cancelled vacation when so many are being evacuated from their homes and fire fighters are risking their lives to protect us. So today, to combat the sadness, were having a staycation on the beach outside our home, focusing on the positives, enjoying the blue skies while we have them. 🌅 This is the #hipstershawl by @jojilocat that I made for the trip. I used Mungo in two colors and planned to add just a few stripes to the project. But then I got to the textured arrows and realized they wouldnt show up in my MC, so I decided to recreate the arrow texture with some colorwork instead. Please stay safe out there, friends. 6th annual textile sale to raise funds for Maya students in Belize, Chiapas, and Guatemala For the past six years, Weaving for Justice has been partnering with the Maya Educational Foundation (www.mayaedufound.org) and the New Mexico State University Museum to hold a sale of donated textiles and other items from Mesoamerica and Latin American to fund scholarships for Maya students in Belize, Chiapas, and Guatemala, with a special focus on girls and young women. The fundraiser is made possible by 32 donors who generously donated from their collections over 700 beautiful textiles, jewelry, pottery, books, and tourist items. This Fall the sale will be Saturday October 31st and Sunday November 1st from 10 am-5 pm. The University Museum is not open at this time, so we will hold our sale outside under tents in the parking lot of our store at 525 E. Lohman Ave. near downtown Las Cruces. Students are especially welcome and receive a 20% discount. Face masks are required. Grey, one of the colors that always makes me calm, and feel in love again with colors 😀 These past few month when I started working with linens, I slowly realized that they do have the calming vibe towards wearing it. But I found the downside of using this fabric is also the imperfections they can be... Today on #throwbackthursday, remembering our fourth pilgrimage to the sacred land, bringing hundreds of devotees from around the world to the mountain believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and the Lake believed to come from the mind of Brahma, the Divine Creator. The pilgrimages were extraordinary experiences of merging into Grace. As the body experienced hardship from lack of oxygen, dusty paths that passed for roads, lack of proper facilities, if the mind was able to detach itself from identification as the body, the heart and soul just got closer and closer to total Union with the Divine.
