A little backstory: around age 11 or 12, I subconsciously closed my heart off to animals after an abrupt & gut-wrenching goodbye to my black lab, Bess. For years, she had been my confidant and was one of the few beings with whom I felt comfortable sharing my deepest feelings. Bess never judged, she was *especially* patient and sat still whenever she sensed I needed a 30 minute gush-sesh...which often turned longer. She stole a place in my kid-heart that I didn’t know was available, at an especially vulnerable time for me when I was distrusting & wary of most people around. Without realizing it, when Bess was unfairly stolen away, I shut my heart down—HARD. YEARS later in therapy, my therapist inadvertently helped me see that maaaaaybe losing a family member at that young age contributed to my blasé “oh I’m not a big animal person” attitude. LIGHTBULB. @NikParks knew he wanted a dog long before we both knew I was ready to open that old wound, heal it, and open my heart again. And for that I’m SUPER thankful, Nikolas. I’ve told you multiple times, but I want to do it publicly so that in case other couples need to hear this and it could help them—then YAY. It didn’t stop Nik from making cracks about having a dog every once in a while just to check in with how I felt. (Without pressuring me, I should point out. That part is important, peeps.) Or in his mind, HOW MUCH CLOSER ARE YOU MOLLIE?!! But he kindly kept the loud-ER feelings to himself. Because Nik is a wise man and knows well that people can’t (read: shouldn’t) feel rushed/shoved into a situation that they are NOT ready for. And you know what?!! His patience paid off. We both knew that we would eventually adopt an older booboo from a shelter, but we knew we both had to be ready for that commitment. And somehow, two weekends ago, my heart finally KNEW...I. Was. Ready. That Friday night, reading through dog profiles on the @nycacc site, Nik & I picked a few older dogs that we felt needed forever homes. And then THE *moment* happened. This chunky monkey was almost hit by a car a few days ago running down a busy Los Angeles street. No collar, no microchip, not fixed. A good samaritan picked him up and a community of neighbors have been caring for him. None are able to foster or adopt him but they are all working together in shifts to care for him. Today two of these amazing humans, @jennagaragiola and @nikovitacco took him (now named Chuck) to the vet so he could get his health checked out and the @standupforpitsfoundation is thrilled to have been able to help by covering the cost. A lost dog report has been filed and we have reached out to the head of LA City Shelters. We will have another update tomorrow about what is needed for this velveteen baked muffin and what the next steps will be. Huge thanks to all the incredible people for stepping up and caring for this little guy in whatever ways they can. My Taurus is showing ♉️🤬🤣 I had *just* sat down to *finally* do some journaling after spending allll morning taking care of baby, and through that, my husband to have his own time 🚿 And I don’t know if you can relate, but it was like just as I finished squaring off my pencil on the table to start my epic me time, I see to the left the first small drop of rain. 💧 That then turned into 3. Then 6. Then 22. But I had an idea! I would just weather it out- I’m committed, right? Universe, I SHALL have my ME time! 🔥 And so that’s when Michael caught this pic. Sippin my espresso like nothin’s going wrong! Anyway, I’m typing this upstairs in my angel room now, bc even tho it stopped for a second it came down even harder 5 minutes after that 😋 and still is raining now that I can hear from my windowsill. ❇️ My Taurus Life lessons ❇️ 1️⃣ You can still create what you want, but the timing and location and expectation might need to change. (That’s ok. You still sticking to it (even if it needs to change form) is where the true commitment healthfully lies 😂) 2️⃣ Respect Mother Nature. She might wink and think you’re cute, but she will have her way. 3️⃣ Pat attention to inspired pockets of time. Meaning, I was feeling even more stubborn because in truth I had an opportunity to go outside and chill earlier, in the sun and while I (bam!) had the idea and inclination to do it. But I ignored it, pivoting to the smart, controlled (?) option of taking a shower to Then have all the cards aligned outside. Not so. Universe had her way, even though I wanted the timing to be different in my mind. She’s bigger than us, and this last lesson can be applied to pockets of time in minutes, or opportunities we have that span years. Respect Her in time and space by following these inclinations when you have them, and Life will respect your back. She’s trying to lead and help you! IE, me 😊 What are your life lessons today? I googled the term “heart dog.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That was a mistake. Now I’m sitting on the floor crying while petting Tornado. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s said that a “heart dog”, or “soul dog”, offers companionship and love like no other creature can. They are perceptive and connected to us on a different level. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tornado is definitely that for me. He howls and plays when I’m happy, he comforts me when I’m sad. If I exhale out of frustration, he will come running to plop down onto my lap. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ He doesn’t know that there has been a pandemic, or that in the past couple of months, we lost jobs or had health issues (we’re all okay ❤️). It’s been one year. 365 days since George ruptured two discs in his back and has been unable to walk on his own since. People told us we were crazy. And after 3 months of catheterizing a dog i kinda agreed. Then he was able to finally start his aqua therapy @vcasouthshore And since then we have seen improvements each month in our little buddy. Who knows if he will ever walk again but his squeals of joy when he is “running” in the grass tell me that we made the right decision. Thank you everyone for all of the well wishes, positive vibes, care, and concern. Today’s oncology consult wasn’t filled with answers but medicine isn’t always an exact science. We think we’re dealing with metastatic carcinoma of unknown primary. Don’t google it. We’re discussing a CT scan to try and know more but that will depend on Marge’s condition the next few days. Anesthesia is always a risk for smushy faces but even worse with the swelling we’re dealing with. Changed up some meds and discussing a chemo plan now. It’s been an awesome 13 months but not nearly long enough. Without being able to nail down a diagnosis we don’t know the prognosis so we’ll be living every day to the fullest... even if that mostly means naps and snacks. ❤️ - @largemargedoingthings on Instagram

I lost my first true “Lifetime” pet this morning at 12:51. Last week we discovered our dog was losing weight due to hundreds of malignant tumors throughout his lungs and body. What the vet couldn’t explain is how the dog had the ability to continue on the way he did. But, I did. Roux’s last month brought joy and understanding into my daughters life. “Dog dog” was one of her 1st words and it was meant for Roux, he knew he had to hold on that much longer. My wife and I were the 1st to hold Roux when he was born with his sisters and brothers from our Female Boxer Rhylee and from the second we held him we decided we would not sell him, he had a purpose, that we now know was to be a light in not only our life’s but our 2 children’s. I know this picture is hard to look at because by this point had lost nearly 40% of his body weight, but he never stopped loving us even with all the pain he went through. Roux took his last breath in my arms, and I did every thing to comfort him. In those last moments I was able to have peace with letting him go. So by “lifetime” , I mean he started his life in my arms , and he ended that extremely loving life right where it began. Who has been waiting on an update on Bisquit, the dog that laid by the road for 30 days waiting on the people that left him behind? Well, he is perfect in every way. He is loving. He is kennel trained. He’s had no accidents in the house. The lumps in his foot turned out to be cysts and not cancer and were removed today. He even liked our cat, Julia. He’s the sweetest soul. To his previous people........ you didn’t appreciate him. But we do. You didn’t deserve him. He waited for you and you, not only left him, but never came back. Is that a hidden dog food drawer under our stove? Heck yes it is. So, this was not a planned feature. @minttinyhomes included this drawer for extra storage but we came up with this idea and it works amazing. Her bowls fit perfect and because she isnt a grazer, we are able to open the drawer for breakfast and dinner and shes already figured out to sit in front of it when she wants a drink. 🌟 GUILE ⭐️ Hoje faz exatamente 1 ano que meu filhinho nos deixou. Ano passado, logo após competir no Arnold, aliás, no dia seguinte, percebemos que o guile estava mancando, 24h depois tínhamos o diagnóstico que ele estava com câncer ósseo (osteossarcoma). O universo me fez entrar em um dos maiores conflitos mentais de minha vida, estava muito feliz por ter competido e me posicionado bem, mas 2 dias depois, tive um dos dias mais tristes de minha vida. Sabendo que teria meu filhinho, um anjo que me ensinou muito, somente por mais 3 meses. Para completar, minha avó, que eu amo de uma forma difícil de expressar com palavras, estava internada, na uti, com um caso grave de pneumonia. Bom o desfecho desse momento que vivi, foi de novo um conflito de sentimentos, minha avó se recuperou, saiu do hosp. Mas o guile, o guile foi embora😞 Minha tristeza durou pouco tempo, apenas o período de sofrimento dele, até a hora dele ir✨ Depois de um tempo, eu entendi algo que nunca tinha entendido, que ele me fez entender. Nossa vida juntos foi INTEIRA de momentos bons, de muito carinho, de troca de emoções, que se resumiam em uma palavra, AMOR. Vivemos 12 anos juntos, amando um ao outro, viajando, dormindo juntos, brincando, dando umas broncas (às vezes ele precisava de um puxão de orelha rs)...isso tudo me fez pensar, a minha tristeza não è justa. Olha todos esses anos, tudo o que me deu de amor e carinho, todas as suas recepções forradas de latidos e um olhar apaixonado, quando me via entrar em casa, depois de alguns dias viajando a trabalho. Todos nós teremos o nosso “dia”, qual outra certeza absoluta que temos?? Nenhuma !! Então, hoje, eu olho essa foto com muita, mas muita saudades, mas NENHUMA tristeza. Eu sei que ele esta bem e feliz. Sei também que o objetivo dele comigo foi cumprido. E o meu com ele também. Fomos AMOR desde o dia que eu adotei ele, até hoje e PARA SEMPRE🖤 Fiz de tudo por você e sei que você fez de tudo por mim🙏🏻 Agora você é estrela e como sempre, sempre será LUZ ⭐️🌟💫 Fica com o papai do céu, só confio nele cuidando de você 🐶 #guile - @btrevis on Instagram
