On this day in 1942, the Rohwer Concentration Camp was opened in Arkansas. On this site, approximately 8,475 Japanese Americans would be incarcerated in the Deep South. That being said, the incarcerees would be forced to face the harsh weather that comes with being imprisoned in a swamp. It was due to these conditions that it was not unheard of for the camp to flood. Aside from avoiding the swarms of mosquitos, the incarcerees of Rohwer found ways to keep themselves occupied. Nos toutous à la plage 🐕🌊⛱ En raison de lincivisme de nombreux maîtres qui ne se donnaient pas la peine de ramasser les déjections de leur animal, la Ville a pris lété dernier la décision dinterdire toutes nos plages aux chiens. En effet, au vu de létat de saleté dans lequel elles se trouvaient après les promenades canines, les plaintes étaient devenues quotidiennes et le nettoyage impossible. A lécoute des propriétaires de chiens déçus et pénalisés, la Ville a quand même mené une réflexion sur l’autorisation de nos amis à poils sur une portion du littoral et décidé, à titre de test, de rouvrir une portion de plage aux chiens, tenus en laisse. 📍 Deux espaces Chiens autorisés viennent donc d’être ouverts, le premier sur une partie de la plage du Centre-Ville et lautre sur la partie terrestre de la pointe des Sardinaux. Our Board adopted a new Local Coastal Plan that includes a set of policies that recognize our coastal geology, take into account our voter-approved land-use policies, and prepare our county to deal with the impacts of sea-level rise. Here are a few tips from our team to keep in mind when exploring Woodlands Park: ➡ Please ensure you practice water safety as you explore the wetland. The wetland has been designed to offer more safety without the need for fences, by combining shallow water depths and a gentle slope around the edge. Keep in mind that the orange flagging on site is there to help protect the plants and is not a safety barrier for the water. ➡ We understand you may want to feed the ducks when you visit, but please dont feed them bread as this can cause digestive issues for them. ➡ The pebbles in the dry creek bed should be left in place, please dont relocate them or throw them into the ponds (or at any wildlife). - @cityofmooneevalley on Instagram

I always try to stay positive with social media but 2020 has made that a bit difficult. I feel absolutely sickened with the RFU’s decision to cancel the England Sevens programme. It’s been incredible to watch the programmes and the players grow and develop. It was a privilege to photograph the mens and women’s teams over the years in Vegas, London and around the world, the men’s team winning the Vancouver Sevens in 2017, and cheering on Team GB from afar in the 2016 Olympics to a silver medal. Four years ago tomorrow after the mens Olympic final against Fiji, sevens was hailed as the future of rugby. I’m not quite sure what happened to that vision. My thoughts are very much with all of the players and staff who have lost their jobs over this decision. @englandrugby - @jackmegawphoto on Instagram

As you probably already know the Beach House was the victim of a fire in November 2018 that completely gutted the building. Whilst a phoenix has risen from the flames in the guise of our open air Beach Festival set-up this was only ever meant to be temporary, and we are looking forward to getting a new building in the future so we can resume full restaurant service, as well as keeping the best elements of our current more casual offer. Our landlords are BCP council, and they are currently running an open consultation to get feedback from local residents as to the design their architects have drawn up, so if you could take 5 minutes to give your feedback we are hoping this will help the council work a little faster towards completing the building, and we can get back to doing what we do best - running a restaurant.
