Initial design proposals for a comprehensive revamp of London’s second-largest garden square, Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, have just been unveiled. Created by architecture practice Tonkin Liu for landowner Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, the designs are being pitched as “a global blueprint for shared urban spaces”. GBI began looking for ideas to improve Grosvenor Square back in 2017, with a view to upgrading the green heart of the community and bringing the gardens up to spec with the new batch of luxury homes and hotels that surround it. A design competition was launched in 2018, and Tonkin Liu was appointed earlier this year. The idea from the get-go was to create a template for contemporary urban landscaping that could inform other projects around the world. Tonkin Liu’s initial designs take inspiration from the original 1720s layout – when Grosvenor Square was created – and update it to “future proof” the square and “help do its part in tackling climate change”. These proposals enlarge the garden by some 3,000 square metres and reintroduce the oval shape from the original design, first laid out nearly 300 years ago. Alrededor del mundo, unos 3.000 millones de personas carecen de instalaciones básicas para lavarse las manos y estas personas corren un mayor riesgo. Alrededor de 3.000 millones de personas carecen de acceso a instalaciones básicas para lavarse las manos y 2.200 y 4.200 millones de personas en todo el mundo no han podido acceder a sus servicios de agua y saneamiento. Unas 785 millones de personas carecen de acceso incluso a los servicios básicos de agua potable y 2 millones de personas beben agua contaminada por las heces. Para 2025, aproximadamente la mitad de la población mundial vivirá en zonas con estrés hídrico. Mientras que la demanda mundial de agua está aumentando a un ritmo de alrededor del 1% anual desde el decenio de 1980, aumentando entre el 20 y el 30% por encima del nivel actual de utilización del agua para 2050. Hoy, junto con la demanda de poner fin al Código de Aguas debemos movilizarnos por la nacionalización y estatización de este recurso, y que sea controlado por las y los trabajadores junto con las comunidades afectadas, para que esté al servicio de las mayorías, expropiando el derecho de propiedad y uso del agua a las empresas privadas. Esse final de semana foi especial, porque visitei um lugar que queria muito conhecer: O Parque Municipal de Maceió 💚 Vocês já devem ter visto por aqui que sempre visito o Parque do Horto, mas ainda não conhecia o Parque Municipal de Maceió. Ele foi fundado em 1978 e foi a primeira Unidade de Conservação criada em Alagoas! A região é de floresta e muito agradável, com várias trilhas e locais para convívio! Também dá para ter a sorte de ver alguns animais, como jacarés no lago. In many cases, returning an urban space to a more naturalistic state also makes it more suitable for humans. In Seoul, the point where the Tancheon River joins the Han River is little-used, and is currently dominated by surface car parking and elevated highway structures. The central concept of our project The Weaves was to intertwine three aspects of the landscape: natural ecosystems, access for pedestrians, and elements of public program where activities can take place. The river is transformed from a straight canal to a meandering stream with carefully selected native vegetation, water retention pools, islands, and purification streams that all contribute to a healthy ecosystem. 🌳🎉 Вчера состоялось торжественное открытие уже четвёртого благоустроенного сквера. То, как Игнатьевский сквер выглядит сейчас, во многом определили горожане. Несколько лет назад они не дали построить здесь супермаркет. Сохранение сквера Игнатьева в муниципальной собственности и его последующее благоустройство стало возможным благодаря надзорной деятельности прокуратуры Владивостока, с 2015 года последовательно отстаивавшей права жителей города и интересы муниципального образования. В прошлом году в ходе голосования за объекты благоустройства жители решили, что оно требуется Игнатьевскому скверу. Мы плотно работали с жителями окрестных домов: и до начала реконструкции, и после. По их просьбам здесь возвели две дополнительные подпорные стены, убрали из проекта сцену и площадку для выгула собак, но предусмотрели больше мест для тихого отдыха на скамейках. Мы хотим показать жителям города, что они могут влиять на общественные пространства, могут выбирать, как они будут выглядеть. Join us on social media from September 14th-18th to learn about our waterways, create positive environmental change, and help clean up our community by participating in a self-guided river, creek, or roadside cleanup any day that week. In 2019, 45 volunteers joined us in collecting 3,000 pounds of trash and tires from our creeks, rivers, and roads! But VOYJ made it easy for us as they took care of our safety and ensured that we have a good time in Tamil Naidu. We really had the great at our Tamil Naidu Vacation. All thanks to VOYJ! The Government Botanical Garden in Udhagamandalam, near Coimbatore (Ooty)Tamil Nadu state, India laid out in 1848 is one of finest gardens in the whole world. Being divided into several sections, cover an area of around 55 hectares, and lie on the lower slopes of Doddabetta peak with more than 650 different species of trees, plants, bushes,etc and a beautiful lake in the middle.The garden has a terraced layout. I took our youngest on an adventure date today. He wanted to try a new park. Lucky for him, I keep a huge list of places we need to visit. 😂 And off to Sugarhouse Park we went. This was our first time and we were amazed at how HUGE this park is. There is so much space—lots of open grass, huge trees, a big pond, a creek, and this really fun playground. We explored all over, but his favorite part was feeding the ducks—Of course! 😉 I liked the shady, little creek. To our cherished #VanAqua family, friends and community. Today we shared the news that the Vancouver Aquarium will be temporarily pausing public programming after September 7, 2020. While closed @oceanwise Wise will focus on transformation. This was a difficult decision and the result of an incredibly challenging year. But it is the right decision to ensure we can come back better than ever, someday soon. Although our summer reopening was a huge success in terms of operating in a COVID-safe way, and proving a great visitor experience, the not-for-profit Vancouver Aquarium was not able to cover costs. This temporary pause, although not what we would ever have hoped for, is a critical moment in our history. It will allow us to focus our resources on providing uninterrupted care to the animals who call our Aquarium home. It will also allow us to focus on a strategic planning process addressing how to reinvent the Aquarium so that we can continue to be a beloved destination, while also addressing the most critical issues facing our ocean, including climate change, pollution and overfishing. We want to extend our most heartfelt thank you for your overwhelming support these past months. Your donations helped us through an incredibly challenging period. Your encouragement raised us up. Now, it is our responsibility to you, and our oceans, to ensure so we can remain leaders in ocean conservation, research, education and animal care, well into the future.
