Municipal Corporation Building, Mumbai - said to be the largest civic organisation in India as well as Asia. The building was completed in 1893 and designed by Frederick William Stevens (1847-1900) in a blend of Gothic and Indo-Saracenic styles. Stevens was an English architectural engineer who worked for the British colonial government in India. The building is V shaped and has an imposing frontage above the central entrance which includes a winged allegorical figure representing the urbs prima in Indis, the first city of India as it was to be known then. The British Museum Reading Room, situated in the centre of the Great Court of the British Museum, used to be the main reading room of the British Library. In 1997, this function moved to the new British Library building at St Pancras, London, but the Reading Room remains in its original form at the British Museum. Designed by Sydney Smirke and opened in 1857, the Reading Room was in continual use until its temporary closure for renovation in 1997. In WWII from 10 July to 31 October 1940, was the first battle in history, between Britain’s Royal Air Force RAF and the Luftwaffe, Nazi Germany’s air force, fought solely in the air. Pilots and support crews on both sides took to the skies and battled for control of airspace over Great Britain, and the English Channel. The powerful, combat-experienced Luftwaffe hoped to conquer Britain easily, but the RAF proved a formidable enemy. The Battle of Britain was a turning point in World War II; if the RAF had not held off the Luftwaffe, Hitler would have likely moved forward with his Operation Sea Lion invasion of the British Isles. We get a lot of questions about the impressive building façade that greets visitors to the American Wing 🏛. Is it a house? No. Who lived here? No one. Then what is it? This Neoclassical marble front previously graced the Second Branch Bank of the United States, located on the north side of Wall Street, between Nassau and William streets. It was designed by the American architect Martin Euclid Thompson and built between 1822-24. Its two-story, seven-bay design with a projecting center section capped by a pediment directly follows in the mid-eighteenth-century English Palladian tradition. Only the Ionic capitals and some of the cornice moldings are of Greek inspiration. In the 1850s, the building was converted into the United States Assay Office. It was demolished in 1915, but the façade was saved and reconstructed as the front of the Museum’s American Wing in 1924. Swipe to see some of this building’s rich history. Today is Constitution Day marking the ratification of the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia in 1787. They got many things right in the document and formed a system of government based on liberty and freedom where power is supposed to be with the People who give their consent to be governed. What they got wrong was not applying these same principles of liberty and freedom to all of the citizens and residents of the country. Many lives have been lost in the past 233 years trying to correct that mistake. If you get to Philadelphia, visit the room in Independence Hall where this history was made as well as the Constitution Center across Independence Mall. (Might as well grab a cheesesteak too!) Marriage, buying there first homes, kids, divorce, deaths. Some Life changing experiences to you cannot quantify it all. I was definitely born to do HAIR with a passion and it’s true, as a Hairdresser, you need to have a strong artistic orientation and be friends with aesthetics. It’s a profession which offers you the freedom to express your ART through HAIR. That’s why I need to CREATIVELY have my projects. IE photographic work , Seminars, live shows, TV , competition work awards. There is definitively NO beginning or end to me. It’s most important that you surround yourself with POSITIVITY always, and have it in your mind at all times. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. It was a privilege to attend today’s National Day of Commemoration at the @nationalmuseumofireland as a member of President Michael D. Higgins’ Council of State. The ceremony honours the Irish people who have died in past wars or on service with the United Nations. . . It was also an opportunity to meet and speak with members of Ireland’s newly formed government and I’m very grateful to the Ministers for their time as I spoke to them about legislation for hate speech and hate crime, supporting universities to provide lectures in accessible formats and envisioning special education through a human rights and inclusive lens. . . Уселись, делаем заказ, точнее он. Я ж французский учила.⠀ Подошёл официант, лет 50. Весь такой накрахмаленный. Сдержанно улыбаясь, протянул Саше винную карту. А тот ему на «сильно английском» начал что-то быстро говорить.⠀ По подпрыгнувшим бровям официанта понимаю, что тот ему сообщил что-то вроде...«Я заказал Феде ... дичь!» И он ушёл. ⠀ А я включила всю «Леди», что у меня была с собой, и делала вид, что всё понимаю🤦🏻♀️⠀ Санёк смотрел на меня такими родными глазами, что казалось, здесь и есть самое уютное место на Земле.⠀ Мы сидели, как два голубя друг на против друга, и улыбались. Беззвучно подплыл официант с «Моётом»🍾и начал его как-то двусмысленно открывать.⠀ ⠀Зазвучала “Shape of my heart”. Саксофон становился ближе. Civil rights movement 1963 - Martin Luther king jr. marched the streets of Washington, D.C. for a peaceful nonviolent protest against the injustice of human rights caused by racism and inequality in the judicial system for mankind. Slavery for black people is as far dated back as the 1600’s oppressed in segregation. Part of history in 1910 a racial covenant law for segregation and discrimination was validated by the Supreme Court meaning humans of different race whether you are Jew, Chinese, Japanese, moorish (Spanish), Turkish or of African blood or descent you couldn’t inherit property or land to be part of the working class in society amongst white people. Only the Aryan race were of value in society to inherit property and own land. Can you see how deep rooted this is? It all happened in Minneapolis, Minnesota and other parts of the states. Morality cannot be legislated but behaviour can be regulated. ~ MLK Fast forward today..NOTHING MUCH HAS CHANGED. Everybody in this photo was assassinated and murdered by the hands of the police or some racist driven by hatred. Successful civil right laws were passed however the powers that be till this day abuse their authority, are not being brought to justice and not taking accountability for their criminal act. The fight for freedom must be fought in a nonviolent passive resistance. Why can’t all lives matter? My brother, my sister..ALL LIVES MATTER nevertheless BLACK LIVES MATTER because they have been oppressed slaves in pain for centuries than any other race therefore enough is enough. Aujourd’hui, nous voilà au début d’une semaine de proclamations de milliers d’étudiants de l’ULB et de la VUB sur la plus belle place du monde ! Une manière de célébrer comme il se doit ces jeunes diplômés et de les remercier de faire partie des 100 000 étudiants qui ont choisi Bruxelles pour faire leurs études. Très heureux de pouvoir soutenir nos universités qui forment l’avenir de notre pays. Je suis convaincu que cet événement doit devenir une tradition pour les années à venir.
