This was when he was on that 60+ point scoring streak, and he hit a game winner against the Grizzlies. I could tell how happy he was that they had won. This man was HAPPY! I could literally feel the energy radiating from him. He signed our autographs again AND took this picture. I have been greatly inspired and influenced by Doshin Roshi Nelson when it comes to working with conflict and liberating myself from the prison of duality Let’s look at it It takes 2 to have conflict, two opposing positions: 🙅🏻I AM RIGHT! 🙅🏻♀️NO! I AM RIGHT! and so how do we usually engage with conflict? 1. You go to war (never works, we make a mess of things, grenades get thrown over one another on the battlefield or in the living room) 2. You walk away (but that still isn’t total liberation as you still are being reactive to the opposing party) 3. When you can’t avoid the person, and don’t want to go to war, you make love, or agree to disagree (and if we are really honest with ourselves agreeing to disagree is passive agressive and is far from being complete liberation) So it seems like you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t lol. Again, remember it takes 2 to have a conflict, two opposing positions, and the culprit is this “i” It’s this dualistic thinking and dualistic feeling that keeps us stuck in conflict. It’s about you. Your prejudice, your negative biases, your opinions, your likes and dislikes, and you’re entirely not even aware of them. So the Question is, where is the place where there is NO conflict? #FBF to 2016 when I linked up with Jesse Serwer to produce a new mixtape series for @largeupdotcom. This was an opportunity to showcase the rhythmic similarities in African and Caribbean music. At the time I had a show on Radio Lily (@misslilys) where I would blend different sounds of the diaspora, so I knew immediately which direction I wanted to take. Artists provided drops, we had an amazing photoshoot with @kiradivine. Shakira is known for coining the term AfroSoca at her dance workshops. Everything came together effortlessly. And the energy and vibe continued with the launch of the mix in Miami at Rum & Bass, the @walshyfire weekly event in Wynwood with the drums of @keshavtrinidad from Jus Now. Since then the mix has been played 135,000 times, Afrobeats has now become a staple in mainstream and Caribbean circles and we are seeing more collaborations with African and Caribbean artists. My goal is to continue to showcase music from the diaspora to create unity. I remember when ADWA first came out him and Ron invited me to sell tapes in the shop and do a beat soup, I felt so honored and still do to this day. I lived with my father who did not want me to stay with him in this country with him as a child. He wanted to send me back to Grenada. But my mother insisted I stay. He treated me as burden and I internalized a lot of that resentment and abuse. I separated myself from my culture and family. Untuk yang terakhir saya dianggep ga ngerti sepakbola (karena mungkin mereka menganggap saya perempuan sehingga ga bakal paham soal sepakbola?). Fyi, saya besar dengan 2 kakak laki-laki dan ayah yang gemar nonton sepakbola, jadi ga goblok-goblok amat lah soal bola. . Review saya soal film ini mempertanyakan genk-genk hooligan yang saling berkelahi - yang menurut saya - untuk alasan ga jelas di film ini, yang bikin saya gemas sendiri. Dan ya, ketika orang mempertanyakan fans BTS yang terkenal militan, saya juga mempertanyakan kenapa suporter sepakbola bisa sama fanatiknya. Saya bahkan masih ga paham kenapa penduduk Indonesia ikutan heboh saat piala dunia, padahal negara kita ini ga pernah main.. tapi ini bikin saya ga heran kenapa pilpres kemaren melahirkan pertengkaran 2 kubu. Karena kalo kita aja bisa berantem perkara klub sepakbola, maka kita juga bisa berantem untuk hal yg lebih besar (ideologi politik misalnya... walau ujungnya satu negara kayak kena prank pas prabowo jadi menteri.. wkwkwk..). . Tapi ngomong-ngomong, saya nonton Green Street Hooligan ini sudah lama sekali, dan review saya ini pas tahun 2011 pas tulisan saya masih dangkal, tolol dan rada sok tau. Haha. Shot a nice and sweet narrative music video for @gbenga3k ‘s new track SLEEP. Directed by @fencesstudio aka The secret sauce duo aka The Oparah Bros! link in their bio and my site 👈🏾 Was interesting to light a whole backyard with a small budget. We opted for 100W bulbs with 40inch paper lanterns. Designed by myself and built by my dad. They’re essentially festoons but my big brain thought that making them interlinked would be good idea (narrator: it wasn’t) ⚰️. Have to go back and redesign them looool Really cool thing I discovered by mistake during the grade is that you can essentially raise the gain / general exposure which would blow out the lanterns. But the bring the highlights down and make them warmer, and you get this flat “properly” exposed look but they’re still technically over exposed on the waveform. Possibly only works on darker scenes? We’re celebrating the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Riots this June, started by trans women of colour, who demanded equal rights for everyone. Pride should remain a riot. I think a riot in our day and age, for white people specifically, is to listen, reflect, be humble and help give space. We can do that by protesting in the streets, educating ourselves, by donating, having the conversations, signing petitions, emailing politicians (emailyourmp.co.uk), supporting/organising initiatives to raise awareness/funding, etc, as long as we keep doing - especially when the media attention fades. To do the work to unlearn and to be real with ourselves. The discomfort we as white people might feel, is really nothing compared to the black experience. Happy Birthday #paranoid&sunburnt ! 25 years old today! The album that started it all. ❤️ By the time it came out a whole year after it was recorded we’d done 5 tours of the UK alone, the first in a Ford Escort ! 😆 Then came this album and our lives were turned upside down! This pic was taken on an industrial estate in a the back of a big lorry. There was no make-up or styling, we just turned up in the clothes we decided to wear that day, jumped into the truck and a few clicks later we were done! Those early days were so fucking hard but so much fun!
