Few days after I first met Cloudy in the studio with @bankrollgotit I got on the phone with my partner @thedjtj and told him we need to work with Cloudy anyway we can. He had such a distinct voice you knew he was gonna sound fire on any beat he got on. Then he’d freestyle these wild melodies and say some shit like “I’m feeling myself you would think I lost my keys” 🤯🤯 his talent was unmatched. My favorite artist to this day!! So it’s been a week and some change since I released my EP and I’m actually shocked at the response it’s gotten so far. #Reflection: It’s been a rough 2020, I’ve had some serious highs and some significant lows. I’m definitely not about to discuss them all on here but I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t affected me in some sort of way. As soon COVID got serious, I mentally told myself that I was gonna hustle harder than ever before. Now that we are a few months in, I feel accomplished. I worked smarter not harder. I wasn’t going to let it contain me, but I also had to be careful because you never know where the “virus” lies or how it would affect your mental health. For some, it was the stress of where money was gonna come from/how bills would be paid and for others it was going stir crazy from being in the house for what seemed like forever. If you hadn’t noticed already, I been kinda distant from social media, I used it as some time away, taking time to work on myself and get my own personal peace. I feel like I succeeded at that too. Sometimes, keeping your peace & mental sanity is as simple as making sure your self-talk is mostly positive rather than negative. Our family went on a local vacay & I decided to get off social media for a couple of weeks as a personal experiment. Nevin has been off for over a year & Raiden is going on 6 months so they were also a big influence to try this. Over the two weeks I found it surprisingly easy. I was more present, read more & more chill in general. After the trip & not missing it, I decided to go a month off. What I realized is that although there can be some positive, it can be a huge time waster. To be able to save 1 hour + a day or 8 hours + a week has been amazing as time is precious. It was also great to have the privacy & be able to be in your own mind with no other influences. As I come back I will be more conscious of my time on the gram & I challenge you to take a weekend off, a week or even a month. You might never come back! - @garretgman on Instagram

A week when Sir David Attenborough said ‘hello’ to @instagram and on his feed @davidattenborough said the following: . ‘Having spent a lifetime travelling, exploring the wild places of our planet and documenting the living world in all its variety and wonder. I’ve also witnessed the damage caused. Saving our planet is now a communications challenge. We know what to do, we just need the will. That’s why we want to share this message on @instagram Because there is hope and together, we can inspire change’. . Head over to @davidattenborough - working with Sir David was an enormous privilege. My entire life I’ve listened to him talk about issues that now more than ever are crucially important for us to grasp the significance of. Sitting in a Landrover talking about why zebra have stripes will stay with me forever, as will many of the other conversations we had. But also so will the enormous understanding that he has of the planet, and the effect that our presence is having upon it. Let’s hope by embracing social media such as @instagram more of us will listen to the words of this magnificent human being and act accordingly. Thank you all for following this week, and your comments. Your engagement is hugely important to me; often a barometer by which I judge whether or not I’m going in right direction when spending extended periods of time away from those whose opinion I might normally seek. This moment ripped my heart out. Guesno, the man in the black hat, had been searching for his son Gardy for 4 years and had high hopes that this operation in no-man’s land between Haiti and The Dominican Republic would bring him back to his family. It didn’t. Instead we were driven out of the village by a restless mob. Many of you are familiar with the work of my dear friend @timballard89 and @ourrescue Operation Underground Railroad to arrest child traffickers and save children and end modern day slavery. I have been honored to be with them as a journalist on several of the Gardy rescue attempts. As a dad, my heart has been on the floor along with the other great men and women in this effort. July 30th is United nations World Against Trafficking Day. Until then, I’ll be publishing never-before-published photographs and from the Gardy ops. From the new series, ‘Les voyageurs’ about pigeon racing in France. Trucks often carrying thousands of pigeons make their way around France and Europe to stop in fields and parking lots to release the birds. The drivers and assistants wait for first light to pull the long thin cord, opening the doors of their baskets and commencing the pigeon’s long journey hundreds of kilometres back home to their different owners. With tiny micro chips on their legs, the first pigeons to make it back to their regions win. The sport of breeding and racing pigeons has existed for centuries and is often passed down from generation to generation. Some racing pigeons have sold for up to as much as 1 million euros in recent years. The Highway The Carretera Austral spans over 1240 km of Chiles wildest country between Puerto Montt and Villa OHiggins. You would think that a project that crosses half of Patagonia should have been built considering their neighbors, but no, there are zero wildlife crossings. Some parts of this road are yet to be built, and again, the project doesnt contemplate any wildlife crossings. I have been documenting the wildlife occurring in the outline of the upcoming road project in the valley of the Reñihué river, one of the few places left in Chile where animals can freely roam between the Andes and the Ocean without ever having to cross a road. The results are compelling. Güiñas, pudus, pumas and many other animals live in this area. A project this big and so poorly planned will threaten their very existence. This photo depicts a puma using the very trail where the highway is supposed to be build, as indicated by the sign installed by Chiles Ministerio de Obras Públicas. The message is clear enough, we are building over occupied territory. Shot for Reñihué Nature Conservnacy Foundation. La Carretera La Carretera Austral se extiende por sobre 1240 km de salvajes tierras en el sur de Chile, conectando Puerto Montt con Villa O’Higgins. Uno pensaría que un proyecto que atraviesa la mitad de la Patagonia consideraría a sus vecinos, pero no, actualmente no existen cruces para la vida silvestre y lo peor es que las partes que aún no se construyen, pero que si están en tramitando su proyecto en el SEA tampoco contemplan construirlos.
En los últimos dos años hemos estado documentando junto a @estudiosdelmonte @librofauna y @valee.alarcon.a a los animales que habitan y transitan por el delineado de la futura carretera y los resultados han sido muy interesantes, hemos obtenido muy altas tasas de captura para pumas, güiñas y pudús, también hemos observado quiques y huillines. El Valle del Río Reñihué es uno de los pocos lugares que quedan en Chile dónde la fauna se puede desplazar libremente entre los Andes y el Océano sin toparse con ningún tipo de camino. - @emintehess on Instagram
