The former Bill Stroppe 56 Mercury was now painted the familiar S&B team colors of blue with a white racing stripe. Reports on the number of entries range from 33 to 36 and owners and car numbers arent listed. We checked the February 23, 1958 USAC entry list at the same venue and the S&B car was running the same number. The program listed Jim McCorkindale as the driver but we have it that Billy Garrett drove and finished close to the front. On the far right you can barely make out the nose of the 57 Merc wearing the number 5. Using our same logic weve determined this was Jimmy bryans ride and that he finished in 11th in the December Race.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 🔥Wouldnt this be cool hanging on your wall? Things you’ll learn in this Harlem Renaissance episode:⁣ ⁣ James VanDerZee was the unofficial photographer of the Harlem Renaissance. He began photographing his neighbor of Lenox, Massachusetts as a teenager, after having won an eight-dollar camera. He moved to Harlem in 1906. Initially he came to Harlem pursue a musical career since he was a skilled pianist and professional violinist. He even created and performed with the Harlem Orchestra. ⁣ ⁣ But in 1915, he moved to Newark, New Jersey and was employed as a darkroom assistant and photographer. He returned to New York in 1916 and moved to Harlem at the beginning of the Harlem Renaissance. He set up a photo studio called “Guarantee Photo Studio in Harlem” and the rest was history. Under the caked dust the Ponton has held up its original paint, original seats and dashboard.. everything is as it came new. Still has the old tires and the 6 volt battery with it.
