He established Courts of Justice, introduced system of revenue settlement and re-organizing all the state departments.Further, he developed infrastructure of the state by introducing telegraphs, railways (Jodhpur State Railway), and developing roads. He formed Imperial Service Cavalry Crops, which later rendered active service in European War. He was honored and created the Knight Grand Commander of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India in 1875. The Jaswant Thada is an architectural landmark located in Jodhpur. En 1872, el general Antonio Guzmán Blanco, dictó el decreto ordenando remodelar la plaza central de la ciudad de Caracas para colocar en el centro la estatua ecuestre del Libertador. Hasta ese momento la.plaza había tenido los más diversos usos, especialmente como mercado. En 1874 se llevó a cabo la inauguración y desde entonces comenzó a llamarse Plaza Bolivar. Como parte de la ceremonia se enterró debajo del pedestal una caja metálica que incluía una serie de documentos y objetos que simbolizaban no solo los logros de Guzmán sino la.consolidacion de la Nación bajo su mando. Allí se encuentran una medalla con un busto del Libertador, un ejemplar del acta de la Independencia, las leyes y decretos de Venezuela, la geografía de Agustín Codazzi, la Historia de Venezuela de Rafael María Baralt, una medalla conmemorativa del monumento, varias monedas, los escritos de Antonio Leocadio Guzman, padre del presidente y y un retrato litografiado de Guzmán Blanco, entre otros. La decisión formó parte de lo que fue el uso recurrente de la figura de Bolívar por parte del presidente Guzmán a fin de establecer un vínculo de continuidad entre el gobierno de la Revolución de Abril, presidido por él y la gesta independentista del Libertador. I cant write, I tried. This is just an exercise, bear with me. People will always find ways to accuse you, if you are posting something or not posting something. Dont wash your dirty linen in public, theyll tell you. And why people do that, because they want to believe that they are not alone. I write my story here to give out a message that I am suffering from a Writers block and if you are suffering from it too, you are not alone. Its one thing I love that hasnt left me(for now{hope it doesnt}). When you are passionate about something but you cant do it; it hurts you, well differently. Self doubt gets involved, frustration. (I cant think of another word) I tried to write. I was a graphomaniac in school. Dammit! my notebook and laptop are filled with awesome half finished stories. Social media has earned bad name over the years. Not an advocate but I use it to connect with people and to learn something new. I am not preaching depression over here. I want to know if you feel the same. Like Gulliver, the guy in the picture who always got into trouble for being in a wrong place with wrong people. He was either too big or too small. He landed in different worlds, did things to please different people of different kingdoms. Delusional to think they would accept him as their own. Some satire are hard to pick when your are young. How powerless an emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar was! The Mughal Empire was in a continuous state of decline ever since Aurangzebs death. By the time Bahadur Shah Zafar became the Emperor, his real authority existed only within the walls of the Red Fort. The British Resident (representative of Governor General to the Palace), Sir Thomas Metcalfe, kept a firm eye on Zafar’s daily life and frequently forbade him from exercising rights that the Emperor regarded as sacrosanct. No nobleman from outside Delhi could enter the Red Fort without Metcalfe’s permission. To enforce his right to rent from his own lands, Zafar had to make an application to the British courts. He could not present gems from the crown jewels even to his own family members without first informing the Resident, and was occasionally, humiliatingly, made to ask for the return of unauthorised gifts if the agent came to hear about them. Zafar could not gift khilats (robes of honour, symbols of overlordship) on noblemen from outside the Delhi without Metcalfe’s say-so: when Raja Gulab Singh of Kollesur paid a visit to the court, presenting a nazr (or offering of fealty) of ‘a horse and 7 gold mohurs’, in return for which Zafar gave him a khilat, Metcalfe promptly made the Raja return it. A petition was received from Mirza Shoojat Shah stating that a chief had arrived and was desirous of visiting the Palace. Zafar replied that without the Agent’s permission no chief of a foreign territory could be allowed entrance. Happy Birthday Edward Burne-Jones! The British painter and designer Edward Burne-Jones was born on this day in 1833. One of the key figures of the Pre-Raphaelite group, Burne-Jones also worked closely with the designer William Morris and was a co-founder of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. In addition to paintings, Burne-Jones was involved in the resurgence of the art of stained glass in Britain. Examples of his paintings, stained glass, and illustrations are on view in the AFA exhibition, “Victorian Radicals: From the Pre-Raphaelites to the Arts & Crafts Movement.” In his unfinished painting, “The Wizard” which he worked on from 1891 to 1898, we see a hooded sorcerer revealing a convex mirror behind a curtain. Is the shipwreck we see in that mirror happening at the moment or is this a view into the future? Burne-Jones never identified a specific literary source of this painting, so perhaps the scene was drawn from his own imagination. “Victorian Radicals” resumes its national tour when it opens at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno on March 6, 2021.
