SantAntonio Abate è uno dei più illustri eremiti della storia della Chiesa. Nato a Coma in Egitto, a ventanni (intorno al 250) abbandonò ogni cosa per vivere in solitudine e dedicarsi alla contemplazione e alle pratiche ascetiche per più di 80 anni: morì ultracentenario nel 356. Lopera nella foto, un gonfalone processionale con leffige del santo, realizzato nel 1457 circa da Niccolò di Liberatore detto l’Alunno, veniva portato in processione, e per questo è dipinto su entrambi i lati. Anche dopo il suo ingresso nella pinacoteca di #Deruta, e fino al 1953, è stato impiegato nella processione del 17 gennaio per la festa del santo dedicatario. O que é prata de lei? O termo prata de lei surgiu no século XIII, quando o Rei Dom Afonso II (esse cara da foto) de Portugal, aprovou uma lei que punia severamente quem alterasse o teor da mistura e quem fabricasse peças de pratas com ligas inferiores. The myth of Zama The battle of Zama is largely regarded as the final battle of the Second Punic war, when Scipio army defeated Hannibal. The information in the classical sources indicates that Hannibal almost won the battle, despite having an inferior army and lacking the cavalry forces he had in Italy, for he managed to lure the superior enemy horse from the battlefield and was in the process of crushing the Roman infantry when Massinissa and his cavalry returned to the field to turn the tables in favour of the Romans. However, recent research by Abdelaziz Belkhodja and others has raised a number of questions concerning the authenticity of this final battle and of the treaty that allegedly ended the Second Punic war. Archeological evidence recently uncovered suggests that the Battle of Zama is an invention of pro-Roman historians writing after the destruction of Carthage, in 146 BC, and that Hannibal was never actually defeated by the Romans. It seems likely that the myth of the Battle of Zama was perpetrated to erase the shame and dishonor experienced by the Romans as consequence of their catastrophic defeat at Cannae, which is why the fictitious engagement was presented as a Cannae in reverse, creating the illusion of having achieved a comparable victory. No one has been able to find the exact location of the battle, while practically all other major battles waged during the Second Punic war are reasonably well established. This is particularly troublesome in view of the Romans custom for erecting monuments in situ to commemorate their greatest victories - there is not even a lonely column, statue or ruin marking the place. In addition, the recent dating of the famous military port of Carthage to the 2nd rather than the 3rd century BC has created a paradox leading to further doubts about the treaty that ended the war... With Zama or no Zama, in the end, Rome won the war because Carthage had completely exhausted its resources and had to accept a peace treaty giving reparations to Rome. Любовь его к страждущим была безгранична, о чем свидетельствуют многочисленные случаи его помощи. Особенно содействовал старцу в деле духовного окормления многочисленных чад присущий ему дар прозорливости, который по чувству глубокого смирения, он старательно скрывал от людей. Мудрость батюшки была велика: хотя говорил он очень мало, но слова его имели благодатную святую силу, а потому, получив от него наставление, человек чувствовал в себе искреннее желание исполнить его. Happy feast of Padre Pio! For the majority of my life, I had no devotion to him. I couldn’t understand the hype behind him. Well, in 2017, Padre Pio came into my life in a very real and special way and I’ve been close with him since! Padre Pio was a priest in Italy who died in 1968. He was known around the world as a miracle worker - he bore the stigmata (the wounds of Jesus), was known to bilocate (be in two places at once), had the gift of prophecy, healing, and reading souls, was assaulted by Satan, witnessed visions, and more. Pio is one of the most incredible Saints of the Catholic Church and one of the most powerful before the throne of God. If you haven’t asked for his intercession, why don’t you do it today? While the Oneida and Tuscarora Indians could not often support their American allies in large numbers, they never hesitated to engage in small scale raids whenever the opportunity presented itself. The following account taken from Colonel Peter Gansevoort’s personal papers, gives an account of the aftermath of the Oneida-Tuscarora raids on a Unadilla village and “The Butternuts”, two mixed Indian/White villages that sat along the Fort Stanwix Treaty line between White land and Indian land( Both villages sat in the general area of the modern day village of Unadilla, NY). Both villages served as places of supply and staging areas for the various British Indian/Loyalist raiding parties operating along the frontiers of New York. The letter is from Colonel Robert Cochran, Major of the 3rd New York Regiment, who was in command of Fort Stanwix while Gansevoort and Lieutenant Colonel Marinus Willett were away. Fort Schulyer (Stanwix) September 28, 1778 Dear Coll, On Fryday last arrived here, the Sachems & Warriors of the Oneida a[nd] Tuscarora Nations, their Number upwards of one hundred…they Delivered themselves nearly as follows- Brothers, We have now taken the Hatchet and Burnt Unendells & a place called the Butter Nuts we have five Prisoners from each of the above Places-Our Warriors were Particular that no hurt should be done to Women & Children: we left four Old men Behind, who were no more able to go to War- Last year we took up the Hatchet at Stillwater (Saratoga), and we will now continue it in our hands- The Grass-Hopper, one of the Oneida Chiefs took to himself one of the Prisoners, to live with him in his own family,….and has adopted him as a son- Brother, We deliver you Six prisoners with whom you are to act as you Please- ….The Warriors Detain two of the Prisoners till To-morrow morning-… ….-Acordingly next morning they delivered me the two Prisoners in their Possession mentioned in their Speech the Evening before, I have them all in the Guard House here & allow them a pound of Beef & pound of Bread per man per day…. Vergangenen Sonntag weihte Diözesanbischof Dr. Wilhelm Krautwaschl drei Diakone durch Handauflegung und Gebet zu Priestern. Aufgrund der laufenden Renovierung des Grazer Domes wurden Herr Mag. Elias Kraxner CRSA vom Chorherrenstift Vorau sowie Ing. Mag. Markus Schöck und Mag. Dominik Johannes Wagner in unserer Basilika geweiht. In der Predigt entfaltete Bischof Wilhelm für die Geweihten die erste Frage des Weiheritus: Seid ihr bereit, das Priesteramt als zuverlässige Mitarbeiter des Bischofs auszuüben und so unter der Führung des Heiligen Geistes die Gemeinde des Herrn umsichtig zu leiten?. Viele Priester, Ordensleute, Familie, Freunde und Vertreter des öffentlichen Lebens waren gekommen um bei der Priesterweihe mitzufeiern und bei der anschließenden Agape zu gratulieren.
