Well today didn’t go as planned..... My first DNF and it stings just a little. . However there was no way I was going to finish as I ended up getting hypothermia (body temp 93) and then ended up in the hospital after some complications arose from it. . I am home. I am safe. And I am ok!! A little tired and shaken but ok!! . The weather conditions out there were unbelievable and something you just couldn’t prepare for. I’m so glad I got a chance to race even if it didn’t end well because I was having the bike of my life till my body shut down. . You’ll sing “Born This Way” at the top of your lungs at Lady Gaga concerts. And your mega-crush, Zac Efron? There will come a time when saying “ZAC EFRON IS SEXY” will feel like saying “THE SKY IS BLUE.” Oh, and you’re gonna meet him (his eyes sparkle in person). How’s all that gonna happen? It starts with one person (for you, it’s @sdulisse). The first time you say those words, it’ll feel like your heart is gonna beat right out of your chest. Lean into the discomfort. Push through. No turning back. Family & friends will start to celebrate the part of you you’ve always hidden. Yeah. The feels are real today. Missing my husband every day. It’s still very raw four months later; and in fact it sometimes feels harder now then it did right after Jamie passed away. It still seems so surreal to me and I still miss him so much. Now I just save most of the crying for stop lights, parking lots, unsuspecting cashiers (sorry guys), and anyone who unknowingly is a bit short with me. I guess my emotions are so close to the surface lately it doesn’t take much. When I’m faced with adversity or feel frustrated, I try to remember that you can’t go wrong being kind because you never know what someone else is going through. I am also learning to stand up & grow into myself bit by bit. I’m doing ok because there is no other choice, but I am also really not ok much of the time, which is ok. I am trying to be gentler and kinder with myself and also surround myself with people who can really love me through this with no judgement or expectations. I still get incredibly sad when a couple walks by holding hands, or when I visit couple friends and one of them puts their arm around the other or squeezes their shoulder. I get sad when I see a couple arguing at IKEA or when I pass by a place where we used to walk / eat / visit (insert any other normal couple or family activity we used to do). I got sad when my book launched and Jamie wasn’t here to celebrate with me and when I will have no one to watch the Bachelor with (yes he was a fan lol). I get sad when I have to fix the doorbell or the toilet or have to set up my Apple TV and I don’t know how. I pretty much still cry a lot of the time. Then I google it or YouTube it or call a friend (just like they do on cash cab) and I make it through somehow. All that to say, life isn’t perfect, I’m not perfect, but I’m trying my best and I hope there are still some pretty wonderful things out there for me to experience. Sorry for the ramble, but I have one more thing to add for Jamie in case he’s listening / reading / whatever.....Jamie, I wanted you to know that I love & miss you every day and I dedicated another book to you, so if you remember my first dedication to you, you will know what this must mean.. - @michellevodrazka on Instagram

Thank you for all the positivity and prayers! I appreciate every single one of you. So, this was embarrassing: I got caught by the doc taking selfies in the hospital. First thing she said was “You didn’t do this for the ‘Gram did you?” . . I have no memory of the accident, and I’m still foggy with memory lapses. I’ll probably end up posting this twice. But otherwise I’m good - and my car wasn’t even totaled. So much to be thankful for. . . Also learned that when they ask you to undress, they want you to put on the little backwards robe. I didn’t see it and had no idea where I was anyway. So that was another humiliating thing that I do remember. But home and healing and appreciating your online friendship. . . I did something crazy yesterday... I started school. 😳 The end goal is to be a NICU nurse. Life experiences- the really hard ones- are crazy things! You can’t plan for them, you never asked for them and you often wouldn’t wish ‘em on anyone. But somehow, those experiences shape us and often for the better. 3 years ago, while I sat in a rocking chair in the NICU with our micropremie for 93 days, I fell in love with the families and babies around me. I also watched nurses who assisted in critical and complicated medical procedures but also had the most incredible people care I’ve ever witnessed. They celebrated with us, cried with us and walked us through our most unsure or even heart breaking days. 3 years later, I can’t shake the desire to be the nurse offering care, hope and comfort to the baby and her mama (family) waiting those longs days in the nicu rocking chair. It feels anger, disappointment, envy and jealousy at times. I’m not proud of that but I know I’m not the only one. ✨ You do too, right? Remember we are playing “honest Abe” so be straight with me. I’m here for that. ✨ I haven’t mastered this, nor do I think I will on this side of Heaven but I feel this deeply...the more I have practiced encouragement, the more my heart warms and softens. ✨ The more I practice loving difficult people, the softer my stance is towards them. And after all, I’m difficult too in the eyes of some. ✨ The more I practice sharing kindness and understanding, the more I feel the world get a little less dark. ✨ The more I practice all of this, the more my relationships improve. ✨ Everyone’s all about “let’s change the world” which I’m game for 1 million times over but it won’t change unless we change how we, ourselves, operate. It starts with you. It starts with me. From the inside out. Sweetness • There’s so many good gifts in this world that God allows us to experience that are sweet and pleasing to the senses. And it’s good to ask our Heavenly Father for things, as He is a Good Father and loves us and wants to give us good gifts. It’s kinda crazy when we actually receive the things we want. Sometimes we’re even tempted to be suspicious when good things happen and things go our way. But really we should just be thankful and praise God and thank Him. Face lit up by the campfire, running barefoot in the dirt, building pampas grass forts, waking up to the sunrise, watching clouds float by, sleeping in the backyard under the stars, swimming in creeks, getting my hands muddy, feeling what the bark of a tree feels like, smelling fresh rain on white sage, getting lost in the wild with just my horse- these memories of being in the wild as a child are memories I will forever cherish. I was lucky to have lived the majority of my childhood outside, and lucky enough to still live that way, whether I am hiking or smelling that fresh rain on white sage. Now that I’m older, finding alignment that honors my soul, natural gifts, and core purpose has truly been an epic journey so far. From building @hikeitoffofficial with @tonyhikeitoff to being a part of @saleranchsanctuary, these experiences have shaped me into someone that little girl running barefoot in the dirt dreamed she would become. Taking little pieces of my life story, experiences in nature that have touched me, and the parts of myself that have been intentionally and carefully healed, I have sewn them together like a favorite vintage tapestry woven with the most beautiful shiny gold thread. This became the inspiration for a project I have breathed life into over the past couple months. I feel this project so deeply to the core of my being and it is something that is in all of us, and is primally pure and naturally healing. We can’t wait to share this with the world, whoever is willing to listen, and whoever is ready to take a leap into the wild and ultimately into themselves. I spend 80% of my time at home in this little corner with my makeshift desk (not pictured because it’s a sad tray table crammed with my laptop, monitor, and probably 3-5 different liquids). Starting to think I should invest in a better set up, but it’s hard living in such a small space 🙃 • One of my goals with this WFH journey is not feeling so glued to my little spot the entire day and making sure I’m waking up early enough to get in some fresh air or exercise before I get sucked into the screens all day. It’s definitely a monotonous cycle of rolling out of bed, sitting in my corner, throwing together some dinner, and crashing on the couch watching TV before we go to bed and start all over again. No matter how productive I think I’ll be after work, there just never seems to be enough time. Time to shake it up! • For any of y’all in the same boat, how are you dealing with the WHF life? The last 6 months have been very challenging for all of us. Today was my first day back in a hotel since Covid-19 hit in March. I have been grounded and all of my speaking at veterinary conferences in person has been canceled. It’s virtual now. Just like school for our kids and so many who work from home and zoom on a regular basis So when our Internet broke for the SECOND time this week & @optimum just didn’t show up on Friday for our appointment (after waiting at home all day) panic set in Friday night. We were on the phone with them for four hours, “disconnected “ multiple times and they were still not able to give us an appointment till next Thursday. (Finally we got an appointment for Sunday) But how was I going to present for the @hillslovesvetstudents Global Vet Student Virtual Symposium this morning.?? My phone as a hotspot was it going to cut it. So I got up this morning and checked in to the Doubletree 1/4 mile from my house for literally 2 hours so I could give my presentation at 10:45 am. WiFi worked great, and it it was awesome to have the opportunity to connect to vet students globally. Three years ago today, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Its been a wild ride - quitting two jobs, selling everything, moving into the van, reversing the diagnosis, writing a book about the journey, starting the non-profit, and meeting the most incredible humans during the #HikingMyFeelingsTour last year. Ive said it before and Ill say it again, this disease is the best thing that ever happened to me. Without this diagnosis, I wouldnt have made such radical changes to my life that have resulted in some of the best years in my life. Earlier this week, I received my copy of the Fall issue of Diabetic Living Magazine. After I ended one of the final Zoom meetings for our summer class of Blaze Your Own Trail to Self-Love, Barry handed me the magazine. I knew I would be profiled as one of the 2020 Diabetes Champions. Here it was. In my hands. It didnt say anything on the cover, and I didnt have the patience to look through the table of contents, so I started thumbing through the magazine. Flip to the middle, Barry suggested. There it was. The article started with this epic centerfold, showing me standing confidently at Pitamakan Pass, my favorite hike from last year. 🤯 I was speechless. Im never speechless. With tears in my eyes, I rejoined the Zoom, hoping they were still on. They were. I got to share this moment with some of the members of our community, and we all squealed to new octaves. Together. It was perfect. None of *this* (waving my hands around everywhere, wildly) would be possible without this diagnosis, and none of *this* - this community, these programs, this work - would be possible without you. Thank you for being part of my healing journey and for trusting us to be part of yours. Thinking about starting a weekly series called, “Selfies I send my mom.” Hi, I’m Haley! I’m a 29 year old from Minnesota who teaches by day and works several side jobs by night. I coach, nanny, and sling coffee on Sundays. When I’m not working, you’ll find me with friends either at the nearest happy hour, hiking, playing games, or out on the water. I’m in. Exciting! 😍 🙌 . In September i’m starting my part time MSc in Personalised Nutrition 🤩. For the past 12 months I have been talking about studying psych and neuroscience, but despite multiple course start dates the time for me was never right. Then a month ago I had an ‘ah ha’ moment. I stopped listening to my ego and instead listened to my gut 😍😍. I remembered how passionate I am about the benefits of good nutrition, how powerful a tool it is in clinical practice and just what a huge difference it can make to peoples lives. Why would I ever want to study anything else?! . In the words of @brianandreas “It’s a very different life you have when you measure it your own way, and not all the ways you’ve been taught”. By the way, the time to start an MSc is still not at all right, but it never will be! Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith 🤩 . Am looking forward to sharing everything I learn with you. Ich zum Beispiel, beim Thema Regen 😅☔️ Ich kann königlich schimpfen über Regen, auch wenn ich weiß, dass nicht ein einziges Wort, ein einziger Gedanke irgendetwas ändern würde daran 🙈 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Wo ist der Zusammenhang zu mentaler Stärke? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Wir dürfen uns die Frage stellen: Wo geht eigentlich unser Fokus hin? Richten wir unsere Aufmerksamkeit auf Dinge, die wir ändern können ODER beschäftigen wir uns damit, was außerhalb davon liegt? 🤔 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Je mehr wir darauf blicken, was wir ändern können, desto handlungsfähiger bleiben wir. Ich mit meinen Regenwolken kann zwar nichts dagegen tun, aber mir immerhin Gummistiefel besorgen 😄 (Das war die beste Idee, die ich seit langem hatte 😬). Je handlungsfähiger wir bleiben, desto selbstsicherer werden wir, und erlangen auch mehr (gefühlte) Kontrolle. Genau das gibt uns eine Grundlage für mentale Stärke, da wir uns nicht so oft einer Situation ausgeliefert fühlen! Und das ist eine so wertvolle Erkenntnis 🥳 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Wir können unseren Fokus bewusst steuern, somit ist es hier auch möglich mentale Stärke dazu zu lernen! POSITIVE. I got a call yesterday morning letting me know that my test results for Covid-19 are POSITIVE. I feel a civil obligation to post this so my neighbors and local community know, it’s out there. I feel obligation as a human to post to let you know, it’s out there. I’ve been the most extreme quarantiner of anyone I know. I still got it. I’ve only left my home 2 times in 8 weeks. My husband has been to Costco in South Jordan twice. He’s been to Harmons in The District twice. Neither of us have been anywhere without a mask. We have not been around family or friends. Ben had a procedure done at Riverton Hospital 2 weeks ago and was tested for Covid-19 before he was allowed to schedule his appointment. His results were negative. We’ve received food from doordash. Did I catch it from a food delivery? Was Ben Asymptomatic? Was Ben’s test a false negative? Did he bring it home from the hospital and give it to me? We have NO idea where I caught it. What we know is, I caught it. SYMPTOMS: I have had fairly mild symptoms compared to some. It all started with a slight cough that I assumed was allergies. A couple days later, extreme fatigue set in. I assumed I was exhausted from raising two toddlers. The exhaustion became so severe I made an appointment with my doctor because it didn’t feel right. The next day, I completely lost my sense of smell and taste. I cancelled my doctors appointment and instead scheduled a test for Covid-19. It took 48 hours to receive results. So far my children and husband seem to be ok. We appreciate positive thoughts and prayers in our behalf as we have all read stories about this sneaky virus taking a turn for the worse in an instant. Thank you to everyone who already knows who have reached out with so much love and support. Thank you to my longtime best friend @alisonmyerscox who is an incredible ICU nurse on the frontlines of this Covid-19 battle, who’s stayed on the phone with me for hours answering all of my questions and calming my concerns. Last night I walked to a view point in Chefchaouene in time to hear every mosque in the area sound the call to 🙏🏻 This was EXTRA special on the side of a mountain, in a valley of blue stitched together buildings. ✨On the walk back to our hostel, I shared with a fellow traveler how special the moment was for me that we had just witnessed - commitment, community and connection, all elevated to greater heights during Ramadan. Some would call this extreme, suppressive or restrictive - or would have dismissed the practice as “not their own” and hidden inside until it was over (👈🏻 this was me not so long ago). . This guy then told me a story of someone in his office that celebrates Ramadan and invites everyone to join him, even if they aren’t Muslim. This made me so 😃 that I had to share. He said, “why not invite everyone to join you on your journey? we are happy to support him sharing who he is with us.” . This really struck me as such an important lesson in celebrating life’s differences, in COMMUNITY with others. More than ever before, with the rise of social media, we have a choice daily to “follow” all the noise of what we should believe, think, do or feel - OR we can SHARE these things about ourselves and celebrate each other’s differences. . What I’m learning about sharing our stories, is it’s not about shouting it with an agenda of amassing more “followers”, convincing others to think like us, or being remembered in some special way. Sharing our story (to me 😉) is about living without fear of ourselves and what we enjoy, finding out what we believe and sharing it shamelessly, and inviting people to join us on our journey without force or an agenda. ♥️ . KRAFT-instruktörer har även kompetens att vidareutveckla och genomföra ordinerad fysisk aktivitet hos patienter med olika sjukdomstillstånd.
