well, this was a fun one. got to run around the desert with the fine folks at WK to help create the “reveal” film for the new Ford Bronco. We were moving super fast as the Covid curtain was falling. The WK team did a beautiful job of pivoting and building out a ton of assets across a very ambitious launch. We had a game of bingo going for the number of times someone involuntarily said “WOW” while watching monitor because we were shocked at what that Bronco could do. Thanks to @thehoshuah, @floridatrashpanda, @kjohnson109, and @stuartjennings from WK for having me out and @avarant for nailing the edit. @patscola on the beautiful images, @dmardis, @hils.alive and @pulsefilms on production, @crsh4csh for keeping us safe, @diazluisgerardo and @thechromabear for building a horse corral on a dry lake bed, and so so many more. Trovare la scuola non fu difficile, malgrado non ci fossi mai stata prima. Come quasi tutto, a Forks, era poco lontana dallautostrada. A vederla non avrei detto fosse una scuola: mi ci fermai solo grazie al cartello che indicava la 《Forks High School》. Sembrava una raccolta di case tutte uguali di mattoni rosso scuro. Mi chiesi con un po di nostalgia dove fosse latmosfera tipica dei luoghi pubblici. Doverano le recinzioni e i metal detector? Parcheggiai di fronte al primo edificio, sulla cui entrata spiccava il cartello 《Segreteria》. Non cerano altre auto, perciò era senzaltro zona vietata, ma decisi di entrare e chiedere la strada, invece di girare intondo sotto la pioggia come unidiota. Seguii un sentierino di ciottoli tra due siepi scure. Prima di aprire la porta feci un respiro profondo. Allinterno cerano più caldo e luce di quanto avessi sperato. Lufficio era piccolo: una minuscola area con sedie pieghevoli imbottite che faceva da sala dattesa, moquette scura variegata di arancione, le pareti di avvisi e graduatorie il pesante ticchettio di un grosso orologio a muro. La stanza era divisa in due da un lungo bancone, disseminato di cestini metallici pieni di moduli e volantini colorati incollati dappertutto. Dietro il balcone cerano tre scrivanie, un delle quali era occupata da una donna imponente, occhialuta e rossa di capelli. Indossava una maglietta viola, che mi fece immediatamente sentire troppo coperta. La donna dai capelli rossi alzò lo sguardo. 《Posso esserti utile?》. 《Sono Isabella Swan》, la informai, e immediatamente vidi i suoi occhi accendersi. Mi aspettava, mi aspettavano tutti. Rovistò con la mano in una pila molto precaria di documenti sulla scrivania, finché ne estrasse quello che stava cercando. Sistemò sul banco parecchi fogli e me li mostrò. Mi sorrise e, come Charlie, mi auguro di trovarmi bene, lì a Forks. Le rivolsi il sorriso più convincente che potessi. Quando tornai al pick-up, gli altri studenti stavano cominciando ad arrivare. Is gold a colour or a finish? Way back in time the effect of gold on a surface was achieved using ‘gold leaf’, real gold hammered to a thickness of 5 microns or about 1/8,000mm; that’s thin and it’s why a craftsman can lay it on any object. The technique goes back thousands of years. It wasn’t until the 1930s that cars were first painted gold, but only to special order. It seems that as paint technology became more sophisticated, gold became more over the top as a paint finish. The the arrival of ‘wraps’ as the final layer means that the customer can have as hideous an effect as his lack of taste can dream of. The gold paint on the Summers Brothers World Record holder ‘Goldenrod’ looked at its best under the harsh bright light of the Bonneville Salt Flats. Whilst 1970s gold like the Buick Electra 225 can show the form of that period of American car to perfection, Art Fitzpatrick could always be relied on to illustrate gold Pontiacs in all their splendour while real gold bars show how differently gold reflects light. Gil Alaya was one of the earliest customisers to experiment with metallic paint colours, one of the very few images of his Mercury built for Jonny Rosier show a gold and dark blue paint job which looks very cool. But a Rose Gold wrapped Lambo ……… well! Illustrator Paul Dove has a fine technique for painting something as dramatic as Henry Segrave’s ‘Golden Arrow’ Land Speed record car, and there is no doubt that the robot R2D2 took a shine to C3PO; I’m not sure that gold furniture would be to either’s taste but maybe the simple gold Corvette could have been. #c3po #gilalaya #artfitzpatrick #goldenrodrecords #goldenarrowhead - @peterstevensdesign on Instagram

Ok, some of you don’t know why am I restoring this car. In 1998 my dad bought it in Germany and brought it home to Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was a used car, but in a perfect condition, manufactured in 1989 on the factory in Belgium. About 10 years later, he stopped driving it, and just left outside. I believe this is the best he could do about it. At this time it already had some problems with ECU, rubber hoses, and maybe rust. Then in 2017, when my dad died in the age of 78, I decided to restore this car. Even though o had almost no prior experience with cars. I had a driving license for 9 years, but my total driving time was no more than 50 hours. I’ve put it in a garage, and was working on it from time to time for 2 years. And then a magic happened, when I have defeated ECU with a little wiring hack, and finally managed to start the engine! This baby has turned 30, 3 years younger than me. From 1995 up to 1998, BMW & Alpina produced 221 B8 4.6 E36s, one of the rarest cars that they have ever made. It comes in various shapes - sedan, coupe, touring and, the rearest with only 23 ever made, the convertible. The engine is sourced from the E34 540i with the biggest difference being the displacement. This was achieved with a new block made by BMW especially for Alpina. Other changes include higher compression Mahle pistons, changed valve timing and a reprogrammed Motronic system. The B8 also came along with a shallower sump, a new Ari oil pump, a new exhaust and new cats. The gearbox was a six-speed manual made by Getrag. The result of all that was 333 bhp and, in comparison, at 1000 rpm the engine produced 350 Nm which was the maximum torque of the M3 Evo. Alpina madness. - @thehofmeisterkink on Instagram

New work for @remembersummerofficial came out today. Clip in next image and full video on their YouTube. On Apple Music etc. The single is called Work of Art. Was the most stripped back video shoot we have done in many moons. Two crew and two band members the day before lockdown. The whole shoot had zero stress and was a good reminder about why I wanted to do what I have ended up doing. As we were driving back from the forest we listened to the radio announcement about how the virus had spread and lockdown was coming in. We were all silent. Was like a surreal dream but I felt peaceful after a fine days work. It’s the singer @angelinadove birthday today too. Era un videomessaggio per chi ci aveva seguito fino a lì (per lo più voi! ❤️), per il nostro meccanico che aveva reso tutto quello che avevamo fatto possibile e in definitiva era una dedica alla macchina stessa, un ringraziamento per averci veramente portato alla fine con ogni suo sforzo.
