I’m up late remembering a time when all I cared about was working on cars and planes, driving a 4x4 Truck to the middle of nowhere, and relaxing in hammocks. Life was so simplistic and so piecefull. Pursuing your dreams can be so hard and the urge to give up and stay where you are can be so tempting. I could have easily stayed and lived the easy life. I could have gotten a house and then have a family with a white picket fence, and lived the “dream.” It was all In reach but I always believed that there was so much more I could do. I didn’t want to just live the “normal life.” I wanted to do more, learn more and experience more. I have no regrets leaving this and pursuing what was in my heart no matter how crazy it was. I have experienced so much and I can say I’ve truly lived out many of the dreams that I never thought I could have. I’ve met so many amazing people, and traveled around the world. I can also say that I have so many close friends that have stayed and put up with me along the way. It’s been absolutely amazing. Especially in times like the current ones it’s so easy to look for an easy way out and make excuses for how you can’t pursue a dream. Trust me.... I’ve had plenty of chances to stop pursuing my dreams and so to speak “stop”. Life would actually still be good, but there is always more. You just have to keep dreaming, setting goals and pushing for it. Even if you don’t achieve it and if you fail miserably, you’ll still get closer and be better off than if you didn’t try. Remember to keep focused and always look to turn bad situations or experiences into opportunities. “Don’t look for a way out. Look for a way through. A 300sqm gardening plot which belonged to a family of policemen for 35 years serves as the starting point for the exploration of the sociotope of the interaction between identity and common understanding of the colonists. The perspectives on this phenomena could hardly be more diverse: More than 30 Berlin-based German and international artists aged between 19 and 59 explore this microcosm by incorporating the legacy of the former owners of the allotment garden and put them indoor and outdoor in the context of their respective medium – whether it be painting, sculpture, assemblage, photography, moving images, animation, performance or dance art.
