@kenclarkspeed knowledge 🚂 rolling through . Speed is not stiff. But Ground Contact is! Powerful leg drive - Down results in a stiffer ground contact and more vertical force being driven into the ground. A “paw back” motion leads to less powerful leg drive downward and a softer ground contact. This results in less force being applied vertically. This is why @nickwinkelman highlight of external cues is so valuable. The hammer and nail analogy is a great term for us and our athletes. It helps paint the picture of a forceful, fast, and efficient ground contact to project us forward. The elite are able to produce more force during the first half of ground contact time ! This is a slide from @kenclarkspeed presentation from @altis clinic who consistently puts out great speed content. - @tuckermike43 on Instagram

Exercise details * Target muscle: Gluteus Maximus, Quadriceps (Rectus Femoris, Vastus Lateralis, Vastus Medialis, Vastus Intermedius) * Synergists: Adductor Magnus, Soleus * Dynamic stabilizers (not highlighted): Gastrocnemius, Hamstrings * Mechanics: Compound * Force: Push Starting position 1. Place a loaded barbell on the floor. 2. Straddle the center of the barbell and stand with your feet shoulder width (or wider) apart. Your feet should be pointing a little out to the sides. 3. Squat and grasp the barbell, placing one hand in front of you and the other hand behind you. 4. Keeping your chest up and your back straight, stand and lift the barbell between your legs. Execution 1. Keeping your chest up and your back straight, inhale as you squat down at least until your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle. 2. Exhale as you stand back up to the starting position, driving through your heels. 3. Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions. 4. Swap the front and back placements of your hands and repeat the exercise. Comments and tips * Keep your feet flat, your chest up, your back straight, and your shoulders back. * Keep your knees and feet pointing in the same direction. * Ensure that the weight is evenly distributed between your two legs. * Since the barbell is held low, between your legs, the Jefferson squat is much easier on your lower back than the barbell squat. * You can use the Jefferson squat as an auxiliary exercise to improve your barbell squat. - @kellyjiyoung on Instagram

Everything is determined by forces over which we have no control. It is determined for the insect as well as for the star. Human beings, vegetables, or cosmic dust - we all dance to a mysterious tune, intoned in the distance by an invisible piper. (Albert Einstein) Music is the pleasure the human mind experiences from counting without being aware that it is counting. (Gottfried Leibniz) The relationship between mathematics and music (vibrations / sound waves) is well known, and in hindsight it is obvious that mathematics, maths physics, music (sound waves) and musical instruments exist because matter is a wave structure of Space. This is why all matter vibrates and has a resonant frequency.🙂 #math_teacher_director #mathematicians #physicslover #physics #mathematicianquotes #physics_qa #maths_lover - @being_asolo_ship on Instagram

The first SOCCOM float of the austral season has been deployed!⠀ The float was deployed from the RRS Discovery off the Chile coast yesterday (52.5S, 80.5W). Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) Senior Scientist and SOCCOM Associate Director Ken Johnson reports that all sensors are working and this is the first of the new floats deployed which have an extra feature—they will collect bio-optical data in addition to all of the biogeochemical data.⠀ ⠀ #SOCCOM #SOCCOMfloat #SouthernOcean #Antarctica #ocean #climate #climatechange #oceandata #autonomousvehicle #autonomousfloat #oceanfloat #biogeocheimstry #oceanography - @soccomproject on Instagram
