So this morning I woke up to a shit tonne of new followers and naturally I assumed I’d been secretly filmed and exposed by a media outlet yelling at my child in public whilst disguising red wine in her sippy cup... but turns out the beautiful @reviejane shared me in her newsletter saying that I was an account she enjoyed following! . . After I was done retrieving my crown from the back shed, dusting it off and strutting around the house in it I thought perhaps I should do one of those ‘about me’ things that I usually think are super floggy but now coz I’m doing one I think it’s a great idea. . . Ok so 5 things about me that pretty much sum me up: . . 1- These photos right here are the reason I wake up #blessed every day but also the reason why I’m slowly becoming an alcoholic. And that includes the dog who is suddenly too precious to get his paws wet outside so he shits on my rugs. . . 2- I’ve been with my husband since high school and I’m very aware that he’s a lot better looking than me so I make sure I cook and clean to keep him around. JOKE. He does all that too. . . 3- We live in South Australia in a big old house and I pride myself on being as chemical and plastic free as possible. And yes I judge you when I see you put bananas in a plastic bag at the supermarket. . . 4- I make my crust as a photographer but I recently became unemployed coz old mate Rona decided that wedding season was a good time to shut down the world. . . 5- I like to think that I’m the sort of person you could have a play date with and we’d make magical crafts with our kids but I’d also down a bottle of vodka with you and slut drop to Britney. - @danielle_symes on Instagram

Just one day after I complained about being pregnant for too long, my babe made her grand entrance.😆Every mom can understand the relief, exhaustion and pure love I’m feeling in this photo, captured minutes after birth. She came within 4 hours of us getting to the hospital, I almost ran out of time to get the epidural but did in the end — only to have it kick in for about 20 mins as I pushed her out (not enough pain relief!) The contractions were even worse and more intense than my first labour, and I remember thinking ‘I don’t know if I have the strength to do this today’ but I womaned-up and my body did the rest of the work when my mind felt weak. It’s really amazing what we’re capable of as women. I’m so happy she’s here, and I’ll be squeezing her like this forever.❤️ - @mombosspodcast on Instagram

Last night I had a dream that I had another baby 😳 and it was a boy! Too soon to think about that. 😂 Although if every baby was as good as Alexia I would have 5 more. She slept from 10pm to 6:30am last night! 🙌🏻 I don’t have any major sleep secrets to share... but I think that 2 things have always helped both girls. 1. Have a routine each night. Stick to it. We always do bath, pjs, bottle, swaddle, down to sleep. 2. Keep lights on during the daytime and keep us super dark at night so baby knows the difference between daytime naps and nighttime sleep. I’m sooo not the expert! This is just what worked for us. But I can’t stress routine enough. Even when Audriana was 1-2 years old I never strayed. She’s slept 12 hours since she is about 5 months old. Hello everyone!! 💗 I’m back up to Edinburgh tomorrow which is going to be so so weird as I haven’t been back to my flat in 6 months! Definitely have gotten used to living here, I’ve got used to the gym here, everything really. But life goes on and still got a year of uni left to complete! 📚 I’m sure it’s going to take a while for me to settle back in to Edinburgh and it’s going be so weird going back to training at Pure gym again! On Sunday, I watched this little miracle of life come into the world! 💫 Just hours before she was born, Hannah and I had spent the entire day together coordinating a wedding, ending the day pretty tired. When I woke up early Sunday morning to a misread text and saw I had four missed calls, I thought for sure I had missed the birth. Well I wouldn’t have wished Hannah a longer labor, but I did love being able to see her strength & grace during childbirth. Just a reminder that everyone’s body has rolls.... My thighs rub together when I walk, my tummy has rolls when I sit down, my thighs have cellulite, my glutes and hips have stretch marks and my body has scars that tell different stories. It’s normal. You are normal, and you are perfectly imperfect just the way you are... Embrace your body for all that it’s been through, for all that it’s accomplished, how it has grown... Focus on what it can do, and how it can move... After all, if my thighs didn’t rub when I walk... would I be able to squat 200kg? Probably not. Ive learnt to really love my body for all it can do over the last few years.. and my mindset has grown so much. I still have days where I “feel fat” and my weight can flunctuate 2kg overnight (hello period). But I have learnt to understand my body. I recognize that weight gain doesn’t mean fat gain... I track my progress in a variety of ways. I still have minor physique goals but every physique goal has a performance goal attached to it... Eg. If I want to grow my shoulders my goal is to - do 10 x handstand push ups for 3 sets or to improve my overhead press PB... So my challenge to you... is to set performance goals rather than all physical goals... or for every physical goal to have a performance goal attached to it. Its okay to want to loose weight... but when you focus on improving your performance... your body will change for the better anyway. Focus on lifting PBs, Rep PBs, improving your technique, run a faster pace, run further, learn a new skill or all of the above 😎💪🏽 If you feel good, if you feel strong, if you feel fit... who cares what a number between your toes says anyway! ONE MONTH! 🌼 Here is a little update on our sweet Alexia! She was born at 7lbs 11oz and today at her one month check up she was 10lbs 2oz (almost what her sister weighed at birth 😂). We are in that awkward phase where newborn clothes are a little too short but she doesn’t yet fit into 0-3 months. She still seems so tiny! She is on a pretty good night schedule. The last four days she has given us 7 hour stretches. She picks her head up (although not as strong as her sister, who was rolling over at 5 weeks old- she was savage even then) and doesn’t mind tummy time at all. I am pretty amazed by her and what a great baby she is. During the day she barely cries. Just eats, hangs out and sleeps. She loves car rides and is SUPER alert. Likes to be part of the action! Audriana has adjusted really well- I am so proud of her. She LOVES being a big sister and takes all of her jobs VERY seriously. In the morning Alexia is the first thing she looks for and LOVES to love on her with kisses and hugs. I can’t wait to see how their relationship develops as they grow. I don’t remember life before Alexia and I can’t imagine our family without her. I will be sharing monthly updates on her as well as our favorite baby products this time around (look for those reviews in stories each week). I will also share a one month postpartum update this week and continue the conversation about what recovery looks like! . . Being a Mom is the greatest gift and the most challenging thing I have ever done. Every day I’m mixed with emotions and riding the highs and lows of motherhood. Am I doing enough for him? Spending enough time with him? Working on milestones enough for his hearing loss? Even in a forced secret quarantine pregnancy- it has been a magical gift that has expanded my Little human brain. Let’s talk due dates!⁣ ⁣ Did you know only 5% of babies are born on their due date?⁣ ⁣ A queen is never late, everyone else is simply early. 😬 The Princess Diaries was definitely right about this quote, and this little princess in my arms is proof! I was 12 days late delivering London, and I’ll be honest... It was probably the most difficult 12 days of my pregnancy. Not only was I VERYYYY pregnant and ready to not be 😂 but I also felt a lot of pressure to go into labor, which made it even worse! I was frustrated and sad and wanted to meet my daughter and have a healthy birth so badly, and every day that ticked by, I got even more down on myself and my body. I’m grateful I had calming techniques from @tutumbirthing_ to help me through that challenging time as well as an incredible doctor that reminded me my baby will come when she is ready 💕 ⁣ I now look back and learned 2 things: that this little ballerina came exactly when she should have, and also next time, I’m sharing a due MONTH not a date 😂 where are all of my 40+ mommas out there?!
