. . “Tehidy Woods to Portreath” circular walk . Today we did a lovely walk from Tehidy Woods to Portreath & back. It was a blowy Easterly wind up to 42mph but as always we seemed to mostly avoid the buffeting. We loved exploring different sorts of landscapes en route, as well as dramatic sea cliffs and isolated beaches. We stopped for lunch in Portreath before enjoying lush, near exotic woodland on the way back. In the early 1960s, volunteers organized an effort to protect Cascade Head from development. By 1966 they had raised funds and purchased the property, and then turned it over to The Nature Conservancy. Because of its ecological significance, Cascade Head Preserve and surrounding national forest and other lands won recognition in 1980 as a National Scenic Research Area and a United Nations Biosphere Reserve. Flower picking, hunting, camping, fires, bicycles, and dogs have been banned. The easy, #HartsCove Trail upper trailhead to the headland meadows is closed six months of the year (Jan 1st-July 15th. The date sometimes changes so call ahead. No dogs allowed in the trail either.) to protect threatened Oregon silverspot butterfly caterpillars. If you hike here from the lower trailhead, the Nature Conservancy Trail (open all year), please stay on the trail. The sun decided to come out for us while we were hiking up Sigurd Peak a few weeks ago.⁠ ⁠ We camped at about 1500m and decided to hit the peak early in the morning. During dinner we enjoyed the view and discussed what would be the best way to approach it. There was still quite a bit of snow on the ground and there were some steep sections. ⁠ ⁠ The ascent was easier than expected, but there were certainly some sections where we had to stay focused and pay extra attention. We put on our crampons for extra grip and all of us used trekking poles.⁠ ⁠ Once we made it to the top we cooked breakfast and enjoyed our coffee. The sun was setting and a massive south swell was smashing against the sharp reef beneath our toes. We decided to walk on the reef and see how close we could get to the waves. Every time we saw this massive wall of white water flying towards us, we could feel the ground shake. The sheer size of the waves were terrifying, but the reef always acted as a barrier and protected us. My mate Malo doesn’t have Instagram but just know, this man is quite the legend. Whites, to the north of Piha is a true gem on the west coast. There is no direct road access so you need to walk in on relatively steep paths.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Whites is accessible from North Piha by crossing over Te Waha Point. The track entrance is a bit obscure but there is a sign on the edge of the forest at the north end of the beach. It is a reasonably steep climb up to the point, with amazing views back to Piha and of Whites. Try and be there as the sun goes down!⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ There is an easy but longer track down to Whites from Te Waha, or take the less obvious “goat” track across the face of the point until you find a guide chain. Then follow the chain down to the edge of the beach (pics 9 and 10). Much quicker and more exciting than the main track, and only a bit scary. Note that it may not be doable at high tide.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ You probably shouldn’t swim there as it’s unpatrolled, but people do …⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ ⁠Click the link-in-bio to see the blog. Live, travel, adventure, bless, and dont be sorry. Jack Kerouac The Royal National Park, 40 kms South of Sydney, is another place I visited only once. The park is huge so Ive only seen a fraction of it; however I loved every single second I spent there. Theres everything I need to enjoy a day out: trees, cliffs, ocean, natural pools, and kangaroos and wallabies of course! It is not far from the city, and you can go by train. Just dont leave Sydney too late, as it takes a while to get there and theres a lot to see. I took some of my best pics in this park; the figure 8 pools are incredibly photogenic so be sure to check them out. I loved the Coast track as well, it offers so many viewpoints... South Africa has had some of the strictest lockdown measures in the world. For the past 5 weeks almost all businesses have been closed and people have been stuck at home apart from grocery shopping or medical requirements. Yesterday the lockdown was eased slightly to allow for 3 hours of exercise between 6am and 9am. Having simple freedoms like being able to go outside taken away from you definitely makes you appreciate them that much more when they come back. One of the things that I hope to take out of this experience is a greater appreciation for some of the things we sometimes take for granted like having the ability to exercise. - @vincedickson on Instagram

Você se vê em tantos processos, com tanta fome, que passa a enxergar o agir de Deus nas coisas mais simples, o Deus onisciente, onipresente e onipotente, agindo no simples? É irmão, o maior de todos, se fez o mais humilde. Não seria diferente nessa interação saudável com os macacos, o que dá pra tirar disso ? Os macacos vem aqui quando colocamos comida, se alimentam, brincam e vão embora, livres, pois vivem em algo muito maior, muito mais bonito, estão sempre em movimento e nunca sozinhos. Nos vamos a igreja, nos alimentamos espiritualmente, congregamos, mas vivemos em algo muito maior, não fomos criados para andarmos sozinhos, somos parte de um único corpo, tem muita coisa pra fazer, muitos lugares a ir. Well here we go again, back in lockdown. In all honesty Im devastated, and I dont know if I want to yell, or scream, or punch something, or curl up into a ball, but where would any of that get me? Absolutely no where. Within every circumstance there lies a silver lining and opportunity. So instead; Im going to appreciate the opportunity I had to go on many adventures within beautiful parts of Victoria over the last four weeks. I am truly thankful that I got to spend that time with some absolutely amazing people who added to the experiences in their own uniquely individual ways. There was much banter, many laughs, thoughtful discussions, eye opening moments, and just pure bliss, and I wouldnt trade any of these moments for anything. Finally, going forward I am going to concentrate on things I CAN control. I will narrow my focus and delve deep into working on self improvement, in what I believe are my areas of opportunity. Im going to continue to work on creating the future I envision for myself, and Im not going to let anything stop me.
