And it’s a part of myself. I feel that the person that I see in some of the photographs in the book, she got buried when my mother died. Hey friends, Tomorrow Ill be participating in a fundraiser called Brainfreeze for Jack.org, an organization that is training and empowering young people across Canada to identify and dismantle barriers to positive mental health in their communities. In the morning, Ill be joining hundreds of Canadians across the country in a unified polar bear dip! No wetsuit! In Canada, 150 000 young people will attempt suicide this year. When I was 17, I was a part of that statistic, and Ive struggled a lot since then. When I started experiencing a more extreme depression, I felt lonely and ashamed. I felt like there was something terribly wrong with me. I didnt know what to do, and I probably wouldnt have made it through high school without my music teacher looking out for me. Thanks for all the extra education and care, Hip. Growing up though, Ive overcame a lot of whats held me back and I so look forward to the rest of my life and experiencing all the world has to offer. Once I was introduced to the concept of mental health and learned about behavioral psychology, I was slowly able to shed my shame and actually problem solve and heal. I was also able to talk about it with other people. I was slowly able to forgive myself for my perceived failures. Youre not alone. 150 000 is a lot of people, and I bet a lot of them feel alone just like I did. Jack.org has started 219 chapters across Canada in places like high schools and universities where youth can access mental health resources and start conversations about mental health. They also host summits and talks to educate and reach out to struggling youth like me. Lets help them keep doing what theyre doing! If youre able donate anything at all, click the link below! If not, thats okay! Come down to Woodbine beach and jump in the water with me! Or just come and hang out. We spent many a night searching Croydon for the perfect carpark and eventually came across this spot. Croydon actually has some wicked locations and it was super nice to search for the locations ourself. . The actual shoot was freezing cold, windy and wet. Other highlights were that I ate KFC AND Maccy Ds for Lunch and then KFC again for dinner. Bonus! (Veggie range obvs) . La mif j’voudrais vous parler un peu de la cover de Briques Rouges. J’ai eu la chance de bosser avec @misterfifou qui nous a amené dans le 77, on a débarqué en camionnette avec ce mur de briques qu’on avait construit quelques jours avant le shoot avec l’équipe. Fallait être vifff parce qu’on a fait ça sans autorisation évidemment la police est venue nous rendre une petite visite 🤣 heureusement @papafonk était là pour les travaux et on eu 15 mn pour finir le shoot 😈 finalement tout s’est bien passé on a eu le temps de faire les images qu’on voulait! Two years ago, I realized that to grow and scale my business, it would be massively beneficial to be SEEN as a sought after expert expert…..in publications and on podcasts. I had no idea how to make that happen, so I contacted a few PR companies. Their responses FLOORED me. $12,000 - $15,000 for 3 months of work. And they couldn’t guarantee the results! One opportunity to speak for 2-3 minutes on a local news show was $10,000.... not including flying to the other side of the country. Plus, any potential results only happened while I was paying. 2014 Chris’s GC ender (topsoul on the wall kink in buckhead) is where he got the name Slinky. That rail is no joke, and the first time he went for the gap over the stairs, he slipped out or got hung up right before he jumped which sent him scramblin through the air. He ended up landing in farf cess and folded up like an accordion. Me @carson_starnes and @alexanderbroskow were terrified filmin and watchin, but he was fine and sprung right back to his feet. From what I remember Alex just blurted out “Slinky!” And it just stuck from there. Then he went back to the top and laced the clip. This was also a transformative part for him. Mid way filmin through this, something happened and his skating just changed what felt like overnight. So we ended up scrappin the early stuff we had and just moving forward from that point. I think it was the mokio over the barrier, or the roll the curb to TP? It was one of those where he started skating different kinds of spots, and also skating them different than he used to. I mention it because his Shangri La part still means a lot to us, but this part was a big piece that led to it. Damn I miss all y’all atliens. 🌹Following their VERY micro-residency in June, Magdalena Mitterhofer & Shade Théret recently presented their new collaborative performance : Splendid with Ivan Cheng & Marie Stolze 💦 Splendid is a chamber play that deals with the notion of decay. Three bathhouse visitors touch on possession, anger, work, loss and intimacy, while the architecture they inhabit slowly disintegrates. The water that tears the house down also acts as an enabling element for their conversation. The title derives from Marie Redonnets Hotel Splendid, a novel about a woman that struggles to run a family hotel built in a swamp. What can I know? what should I know? what can I hope? whats human? I know: volatility, cycles yes yes, metamorphosis. I don’t know: what stays, how to become an autonomous organism, how „one is all“ works, how to move without legs, what a circle is. I know: loss is a romantic invention, you don’t belong to me, marriage is for the scared ones, dying too. I don’t know: why someone disappears in the waves, why a house gets torn down, what happens to the things, i mean the stuff. I know: theater is soon gone, everything that arises is worth perishing. Every closed room is also a coffin. I don’t know: in which heart to build a house. Why am I standing here? Why are you here? I know: womens loneliness is a boring story. I also know: building gangs is wise and helps against the decay. I don’t know: why loneliness tears cracks of madness into these walls. I don’t know: that I‘m a fool. I know: experience is the crack. On one side I see reason, on the other dreaming. I know: that it‘s easy. Water belongs to the madness, no, the other way around. That I write to become someone else. I don’t know: to whom the water belongs, why it‘s worth, knowing something, why it’s not fallacy that is desirable?
