Ohms does not disappoint! It is a good blend of their continued elemental experiments while still delivering their heavier aggressive sounds as well. @deftones @repriserecs . . . Ohms is the ninth studio album by American alternative metal band Deftones, released on September 25, 2020, through Reprise Records. It is their first album on which Stephen Carpenter utilizes a nine-string guitar. The cover art was designed by Frank Maddocks, who had worked with Deftones on each of their albums since White Pony. There are total of 12,995 dots on the cover art. Many fans believed that the design paid tribute to the bands original bassist Chi Cheng, who died in 2013, as the eyes that appear on the cover art lined up closely with a photo of him. Band drummer Abe Cunningham stated in an interview that this was merely a coincidence, however. He added that the cover art idea reminded him of the 1980s, specifically the music video for Princes 1984 song When Doves Cry. Shortly before the albums release, Deftones launched the Adopt a Dot campaign, allowing for people to purchase one of the dots on the artwork as their own. A photo of the purchaser would then appear as the dot they purchased and be a part of the Ohms Adopt a Dot digital experience viewable online. Przyszedł czas na coroczną ocenę dorobku... 2019, wbrew moim obawom okazał się skromniejszy ilościowo, bo wreszcie wyregulowałem tepo. Nie zwolniłem, ale i tak oceniem rok lepiej niż morderczy poprzedni. Do spokoju i zadowolenia jeszcze daleko, liczę na to 2020. Udało się wreszcie wrócić na scenę z zespołem, objechać większość konwentów (choć na żadnym nie byłem gościem i to też mnie cieszy). Znów wygraliśmy z Atrapą festiwal teartalny. Jestem za to bardzo zadowolony z jakości. Nowe Plemiona są na tę chwilę najlepszą moją książką, podobnie jest z albumem Damage Case, które wreszcie doczekało się należytej promocji. Do tego jedno (i ostatnie) moje tłumaczenie powieści Johna Eversona. No i wisienka na torcie, znakomita książka Roberta Ziębińskiego, który umożliwił mi napisanie do niej jednego rozdziału o Mrocznej Wieży Stephena Kinga. Dziękuję. At the time of my Mar 16th post, the directives from the authorities here were that we not congregate in groups of more than 250ppl and that we wash our hands regularly, which we were doing. Two days later, those directives changed and, despite my intense trepidation over the socioeconomic and political repercussions of this course of action, PLEASE KNOW I AM DOING MY PART TO FLATTEN THE CURVE, PRACTICING SOCIAL DISTANCING AND STAYING HOME WITH MY FAMILY. I want to offer my sincere and heartfelt apology for the insensitivity I showed in my previous post to the very real suffering and fear that has gripped the world through COVID19. Grandparents, parents, children, sisters and brothers are dying, the world is rallying to find a way to stop this very real threat, and my ensuing silence has sent a dismissive, arrogant and cryptic message. My direct and special apologies to those most affected by this pandemic. I never meant to hurt you. When I wrote that post 10 days ago, I thought I was infusing calm into the hysteria. I can see now that I was projecting my own fears into an already fearful and traumatic situation. I am grieved by the ongoing loss of life, and the impossible decisions medical workers around the world must make as they treat those affected. I am concerned for our communities – small businesses and families living paycheck-to-paycheck – and I am trying to follow responsible recommendations for how to help. Like many of you, I fear for the political aftermath of this pandemic, and I am praying for us all. At the same time, I am heartened by the beauty and humanity I see so many people demonstrating toward one another in this vulnerable time. When I was grappling with my own fears over social distancing, one kind, wise and gracious person said to me “do it out of love, not fear” and it helped me to realize my place in all of this. On August 5th, educators returned to school for pre-planning virtual teaching and we welcomed students virtually August 24th. This put a huge dent in my reading (virtual teaching is hard - period!!!), but I am not giving up finding time to read for leisure 💪🏾! Happy #thelastofusday everyone 🎮 I’ve been meaning to post more often about The Last of Us and Part 2, but I wasn’t fully confident. Partly cause of the division between people in the fandom, and I didn’t wanna draw fire towards my page. Like it’s ok to have an opposite opinion, but it’s not ok to try to enforce it to toxic levels. But you know what? I think I’m gonna start posting some of my thoughts, and I’ll try to keep it as spoiler free as possible, even as I summarize things. I’ll share my thoughts, on what the experiences of both Last of Us games mean to me 🎮 Truth be told, before I played The Last of Us in March of 2018, I was worried the hype would get to me, and make me hold the game in skeptic view. At first, I wasn’t sure about the game. But then I played the game, progressed forward and then saw it The Last of Us has definitely climbed up my ladder for me, among my favourite games. I love what the Naughty Dog team does to create their characters, world, story, and atmosphere. How beautifully rounded they makes their characters, grounded (no pun intended) they make their tone, strongly the actors perform, situations they create for the characters, etc. It’s a little hard to explain my thoughts and feelings towards these games 🎮 The Last of Us characters make me happy, sad, inspired, reflective, captivated, excited, etc. Its theme centred around family, and people living in such a difficult world, it’s definitely a strong storyline between strong characters. I’ve truly grown to love The Last of Us games, even if it took some time. So despite the rough experiences, tough times, hurt emotions, I wanna thank the Naughty Dog, and the Last of Us cast, for bringing these games, characters, stories, and journeys into my life. I’d like to thank the developers and casts in general for all of their games, Last of Us related or otherwise, like Uncharted, Crash, etc. Thank you for all the games, laughs, joy, fun times What does The Last of Us mean to you?
