Yes, it’s also experienced in big moments. But how often do those big, big moments come around? How much time is wasted waiting for them? And then when they do come around do we truly savor them and bask in them? Or quickly move on to the next big thing we need to achieve? If we’re not savoring the small moments, how can we expect to know how to savor the big ones? And this isn’t just about being happy. It’s impossible to be happy in every moment nor is that the goal. The goal is to celebrate the entire journey. The highs and the lows, the painfully human moments, the times we get it right, and the times we get it laughably wrong. For so long, I put so much pressure on myself to control every outcome. Constantly striving for the next big thing, thinking if I just make it there I’ll be happy. But through my personal work, I’ve learned (and of course am always learning) what it means to surrender. Surrendering to me is defined in this very quote. It means defining my success by what truly matters. It means honoring and accepting my entire human experience. Letting go of what’s out of my control. Less judgment of myself and others. Focusing on what I’m grateful for moment to moment and how I can make those around me feel great. Lake Resia (in German “Reschensee”) is a very particular artificial basin located in South Tyrol, on the border with Austria; it was built starting from the 1930s to produce hydroelectric energy, using two small lakes already present, Lake Curon and, precisely, Lake Resia through a dam. The works ended in 1950 and, in addition to joining the two lakes, caused the total flooding of the ancient village of Curon. Behind the Name . Do you know why my biz is called “Walls of Stories”? Let me share with you why... . Growing up, my mum had paintings and photos all over our walls and each one had a story behind it. She would tell me we bought this one when we had a family trip here, or when we were there, we stood and watched the artist paint this piece in 15 minutes. This one the artist chose your brother out of the audience and gifted it for free - you get the idea! . I think this fuelled my passion for collecting art and I love the idea that you can use your walls to personalise your home and have it tell it’s own unique story by the decor you choose to furnish with. . You’ve probably heard the saying “if these walls could talk...” Just imagine if when you walked into a home or any building for that matter and you got a download of all the stories those walls had seen over the years - how fascinating! . Fast forward to 2016 when my husband and I found out I was pregnant. I knew we had to share our love of books and the special memories you create from them with our little one. . After some thought we decided on a Dr Seuss theme, as the books are cheerful, clever and quirky - everything we hoped our son would be. In the hunt for Dr Seuss, we found there was limited bedroom decor available for little boys, so I decided to create my own and personalise it. I used pages from story books to decoupage wooden letters of Charlie’s name and ‘Walls of Stories’ was born. . Although creating my wooden letters ended up being short lived, I realised I love to create unique and personalised decor, that you can’t find anywhere else and has a sentimental aspect to it, to make it that extra special to its owner. . As both the story behind my biz name choice and reason for doing it hasn’t changed, I’ve decided to revamp it to my new direction - luxe, deconstructed dream catchers designed with one of your most precious memories - your ultrasound.....that special moment you physically see your beautiful baby for the first time. . This week we caught up with Digital Dance Project dancer and L.A. native, Melissa Briggs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When the country went on lockdown I was currently in my last semester at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee about to earn my BFA in Contemporary Dance Performance that upcoming May. I was working on the Senior Showcase that my senior class was supposed to perform at the Alvin Ailey Studios in New York City as well as at our own space in Boston. I was also in the process of going on company auditions, specifically in San Francisco and San Jose in California, as well as a few on the East Coast, but unfortunately my auditions were canceled due to COVID. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During quarantine, I’ve learned to engage in a lot of personal self-reflection and self-growth. I’ve also learned to be able to take a step back and slow things down as this was the first time in a very long time that I was able to have a bit more freedom in my schedule. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘴 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I believe Digital Dance Project adds value to the dance community during the pandemic because it is giving artists the chance and the opportunity to connect with others across the states and possibly around the world as we may have otherwise not have had the opportunity to do so if the pandemic hadn’t happened. It is officially fall!✨🌾🧡 This warm weather is making it feel like summer but with all the fall fun.🌾☕️🤍 Today I decided to add a little fall flare to the front porch. ✨Here is how I made my display. Ps. Did I mention it was quite simple?!🤗🤍 STEPS: 1. Place straw bales to create the base of your display. I like to add different levels of height, so I leaned one against the other. 2. Place the corn stalks into the straw bales. This creates extra height and covers more space than just placing them behind the straw bales. It also keeps them in place. 3. Add your pumpkins. Pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and colours can be used! I love having variety 🤍🌾🧡. When placing your pumpkins, place a few upright, and then use these pumpkins as a surface to lean others up on. 4.Add in gourds and dried corn. These can be added in to fill some of the open spaces between the larger pumpkins. You can also lean them up against the pumpkins. 5. Add in a fall mum. Mums are such a great addition. I chose a burgundy mum but I absolutely adore all the colours that are available. And voila!! Changes in sea ice affect all inhabitants of Antarctica, and each species’ interaction with the ice is unique and complex. For example, Emperor Penguin colonies require very specific locations. A colony must be on fast-ice, close enough to a coastal polynya, the only open water around Antarctica during the winter, so that the birds can feed – the females after they lay eggs in May, and the males after incubation in July. This requirement alone severely limits the options for a colony site, but it must also have stable ice at least through the end of December. If the fast ice breaks out too soon, the chicks won’t have time to fledge, and whole generations can be lost. If the ice doesn’t break out enough, the long treks to and from open water can prevent adult birds from bringing enough food to young birds. I visited such an Emperor colony in East Antarctica on Christmas Day in 2007. At that late date, chicks should have been ready to go to sea. But the fast ice edge was still 50km from the colony. Adult birds continued to dutifully bring back stomachs full of food, but it had obviously not been enough. The chicks were tiny, completely unprepared for their journeys. They were all marked for death. Weddell seals also require fast ice for successful breeding, but their requirements differ. The best situation for a Weddell is extensive fast ice with a perennial sea ice crack to allow access to the water below. The seals rest easy far removed from the water’s edge because leopard seals and killer whales are kept far from the colony, unable to negotiate long journeys under unbroken ice. While fast-ice is specifically important to Weddells and Emperors, almost all species are highly dependent on the broken pack-ice. For instance, Adélies and juvenile Emperors depend on the remnants of the seasonal ice during the winter. Hunting largely by sight, the wintering penguins must ride floating rafts of ice far enough north to find light – even if only for a few hours a day. If climate change forces the winter pack to recede south into the perpetual darkness, which is beginning to happen, the penguins that ride the ice will disappear. #antarctica #ccamlr @sealegacy - @johnbweller on Instagram

4 Years ago I made a decision that changed my life. At the time I didn’t know what it was going to do for me, who it was going to bring into my life and how it would change.. everything. I started this page taking selfies in my corporate jobs bathroom, working hard 9-5 with long commutes and working freelance to get by... My life felt like it was crumbling in front of me and so many parts of who I was, was no long me. I was a freshly out of a break up that rocked me, a retired athlete that lost who she was and at the end of the road thinking #adulting looked one way. I remember being hopeful that something would come my way.. that this couldn’t be it… I also remember feeling SO MUCH GUILT for hating a job that most people would dream for. Everyone around me told me they were proud of the path I created for myself… except for me. I needed more, I need a purpose and most of all I needed something that made me excited about life. Coaching. Who knew? I was never a girl that LOVED fitness.. never a girl that was a girls girl and definitely never a girl that wanted to be social, vulnerable and use social media for anything. But 4 years later this little coaching thing I thought would be “fun” has turned my world upside down in the best way I could ever explain. For the first time in my life I am happy, fulfilled and most of all unapologetically me. I am out, loud and proud of the person I am and becoming and I am on a mission to show women that they are more than a job title, a destination, a paycheck, an identity or the current situation they are in. This platform given me a voice, community and the freedom to just be, Mandie. It’s pretty wild your life can change with one decision but it’s the chances you have to take... and I wouldn’t have stopped taking them to find something like this.
