Before I get into it, let me ask you: what’s been a stand out read of the year so far? We’ve only got four months left of 2020, how FAST is time going?! . (Warning: emotional post.) I’ve been feeling pretty low these days, and my creativity for new posts has taken a complete dive. You guys would have probably seen my many attempts to reinvigorate my account, only to burn out a week or so later. This is torturous for me, because this book world used to be such a comforting space for me in times of struggle - and now it’s just another cause for frustration. My self esteem has taken a huge beating over the last few months, and because of that I have completely disengaged and disconnected from both the real world and the online world. I’ve lost the confidence to put my thoughts and emotions out there, and this has resulted in my platform dying, and my friendships fizzling out. I feel that I’ve become irrelevant - that people have stopped caring about what I’m doing or how I’m feeling, and are just watching me drift through life pulling further and further away. I’ve gotten to the point now where I don’t know how to salvage any of it. I don’t know how to reinvigorate friendships I’ve let fall apart, I don’t know how to rekindle creativity that’s burnt out, and I don’t know how to pull myself back down to ground when I can’t seem to get a grip on anything. I’m not sure what I was hoping to achieve with writing this post. Maybe gain some strength from the vulnerability I fear so much? (i am doing a MA in chinese studies with a major in literary translation (classic and modern chinese) from chinese to french) my thesis topic is: the representation of women through the prism of a study, analysis and partial translation of a work written by zhang kangkang 张抗抗 (1950-) called qing’ai hualang 情爱画廊 (1996) that could be translated as gallery of love. this book has been written in the 90s and shows the evolution of the chinese society and emancipation of women. i am talking about chinese feminine literature and writing, female consciousness, feminism, evolution and changes of the 90s society in china, the image of body and sexuality, modernity/tradition, perception of love, translation commentary etc. a lot of things actually haha! i am writing it in french and i am also translating a lot of passages from the book to talk about my topic. i am doing my researches both in french, english but mainly in chinese (interviews, press articles, university papers etc) there is obviously more to it but i am planning on writing a full article about it. i just wanted to talk about it briefly to reply to those who were curious!📝hope it answered few of your questions! have a nice evening y’all💭 - @thomreads on Instagram

Um TCC baseado em YA, mulheres que escrevem e amor⁣ ⁣ 👩‍💻Desde que eu era bem nova, a literatura me ensina sobre culturas, realidades, pessoas, dores, empatia, respeito. Ela faz parte parte da minha história, de quem eu sou, e tem me acompanhado em inúmeros momentos da vida. Justamente por isso, não podia ficar de fora do meu TCC.⁣ ⁣ Quando comecei a fazer jornalismo, imaginei que seria fácil escolher um tema para o trabalho de conclusão, que eu teria uma área jornalística favorita e saberia exatamente o que fazer no futuro. Porém, eu estava enganada, e que bom! Foi difícil chegar ao tema da pesquisa, mas quando tive um norte com a ajuda de uma professora incrível (Poly💛) e de uma miga que estuda comigo (Gabi💙), as coisas começaram a deslanchar.⁣ ⁣ 👩‍💻Ao contrário do que imaginava no início da graduação, não tenho uma área preferida, porque meu curso é MUITO amplo e sou apaixonada por várias áreas, mas optei por um trabalho com jornalismo literário aliado ao podcast. No começo da disciplina de Pré-TCC, que peguei no período passado, minha ideia era analisar algum programa de áudio on-line que fale sobre livros, só que uma pergunta foi mais forte do que eu e mudou tudo: por que não fazer o meu podcast literário?⁣ ⁣ E bom… estou me desafiando a fazer. Tive que pensar num recorte para a abordagem e o young adult me chamou, mas eu não queria falar sobre qualquer livro jovem adulto. Minha vontade mesmo era/é trazer representatividade para o tema, então foi assim que nasceu a ideia de produzir um canal de podcast literário sobre livros YA escritos por mulheres. Ah, levando o nome do bookstagram e sendo como uma extensão desse espaço.⁣ ⁣ 👩‍💻Não vou dizer que tem sido fácil lidar com o trabalho diante de tudo que vem acontecendo, nem que a insegurança tenha me abandonado, mas a literatura está me sustentando em outro momento importante da vida e eu sou muito grata por isso. Happy Monday booksta💕 I took a little hiatus this weekend to enjoy the last weekend of summer with some family, I hope that even with the passing of RBG (Rest In Power, Ruth 🥺💔) you were able to find some joy and happiness 💖 I took a little fantasy break from A Court of Wings and Ruin to start my reading for #LatinxHeritageMonth with The Undocumented Americans. This is by no means lighter reading. It’s heartbreaking, frustrating, and devastating but it’s also necessary and important. The lives and struggles of so many people go unheard of and they deserve to have their stories told. ACOWAR has started off slow for me and given its my “TBR-free” September I went with my mood and picked this one up. It’s very interesting, but as a new fantasy fan I’m switching back and forth from Karla’s book to the world of Prythian. I’m looking forward to reading how Faeyre’s adventure continues. Тепло, уютно, книга. ⠀ Что ещё необходимо для хорошего настроения? С учетом того, что все родные здоровы и счастливы. Можно ещё чашку горячего чая с молоком, кота под боком, блокнот с кучей идей, планов, проектов, предвкушение интересного впереди. ⠀ Я была неактивной эти дни, потому что не было вдохновения, настроения. У всех же бывает такое? Не хочу давить из себя посты и видео, потому что «надо». Возможно, кто-то считает, что обязательно выставлять каждый день или с очередностью, я не такого мнения. Мне кажется, что будет честно снимать и писать тогда, когда хочется и есть о чем. ⠀ Сегодня мне просто захотелось написать о своих ощущениях. Как же приятно, когда светит весеннее тёплое солнышко, когда не надо надевать три пары колготок с начесом, когда идёшь по сухому асфальту в новых ботиночках и пальто. И ещё, световой день увеличился, а это очень воодушевляет. Кажется, даже дышать стало легче. У меня, наконец, появляется желание и возможность творить. И, надеюсь, скоро вы все увидите результат моей работы. Пока не скажу какой 🤫. ⠀ Кстати, я прочитала пару классных книг и скоро выставлю отзывы к ним. Меня все больше манят Книги с волшебством, магией, сказкой. Хочется читать что-то положительное в такую чудесную погоду. И петь, и танцевать, и смотреть мюзиклы ( как жаль, что Кирилл их не любит, аж засыпает под любой мюзикл 😹) . If youve been feeling down lately (so literally everyone), then allow Talia Hibbert to make you feel better - if you havent already! I realise Im extremely late to the party, but if youre a fellow late party-goer then pick up a copy, stat! Im still not sure how I feel about the steamier parts of romcoms being read out-loud to me... but the audiobook experience is also excellent, Adjoa Andoh is a fab narrator. . After a near brush with death, chronically ill computer nerd Chloe Brown decides she needs to get a life. So she does what she does best: makes a list. The first item is moving out of her familys mansion and renting her own place. But she soon realises she might need a little help with some of the other items on her get-a-life list. So she recruits Red Morgan (superintendent by day, artist by night, looks intimidating but has a heart of pure gold) to give her some guidance - and a ride on his motorbike (item 3 on the list). . Okay, Im still fairly new to romcoms so I dont have an extensive frame of reference, but Talia Hibbert writes sexual tension SO. WELL. The steamy scenes were 👀🔥 But the cute scenes were equally well written - Red is such a sweetheart! And I 100% want to be best friends with Chloe! I took my time listening to this one because it made me feel so happy and I wanted to parcel out the happiness. There was a chapter made up of email exchanges between Chloe and Red and it made me want to cry with happiness as they bantered back and forth. But then towards the end Hibbert got VERY real and ended up making me cry for real which??? I dont remember giving her permission to do that but I immediately forgave her. . And if youre like me and can’t stand when half the plot hinges on miscommunication, fear not! These characters might be stubborn and snarky but they talk to each other, even when things get tough. And this book has received so much well-deserved praise for its representation and handling of fibromyalgia, which Chloe suffers with, as well as domestic abuse. Hibbert does a brilliant job balancing the more serious side with the fluffy side! . Long story short: read this book, be reminded that there is joy in the world ❤ - @ab_reads on Instagram
