WHO EVER SAID YOU CAN DO IT ALL LIED My plan for my #maternityleave was to do it all: ➕Master motherhood ➕Work on getting my body “back” ➕Learn new skills ➕Read all the books I’ve hoarded ➕Finish all the projects I’ve been putting off When I think about it- all I can do is laugh 😆 I’m glad I’m learning to give myself grace. In the world today there is an unattainable goal for mothers and women in general. We are supposed to be all things to everyone and make it look easy. It only took me a couple of days after I had my baby to let my perfect plan for my maternity leave go. Once I let go of my plans I was able to start enjoying this wonderful learning experience. For the last two months it’s been great to be able to focus on building my bond and learning with my baby girl. Now that my baby girl is so grown - (she thinks she’s 1 or something) she gives me more time to work on other things. First thing up- getting back to working out. Morgane & Shelby with their gorgeous 1-year-old daughter, Maayan. Morgane and Shelby met in their first year of college when they were on the swim team. 🩱 Morgane didn’t have any shampoo, so she walked up to Shelby to ask for some and from then they became friends! They have now been together for five years and married for three. 💍 ⠀ ⠀ Their path to parenthood was quite difficult for them. As Morgane is deaf and Shelby is hard of hearing, they had a tough journey. 🧏🏻♀️🦻🏻 Most of the content, videos, or even written information about TTC are heavily English based and English is not Morgane’s first language. This made it difficult for them to make informed decisions. Luckily, a friend connected them to a couple who knew ASL (American Sign Language) 🤟🏼 and they took the time to explain a lot to them. Ok, I don’t want to appear smug but I’ve been proper ploughing through the to-do list so far this week. I’ve decided to try and shrug off my Corona-slump and get busy on things I’ve been avoiding. I’ve tackled some long over due admin, got busy on some client project planning. I even tackled the Monica cupboard yesterday. We all have one or two of those don’t we? Tell me I’m not alone? I’m super late to the party but I finally watched a couple of episodes of Marie Kondo over the weekend and her technique of folding and stacking sheets and towels has changed my life! 🤣 My particular Monica f’hole is the cupboard on our upstairs landing. It’s a very narrow, tiny walk in but houses linen, towels and basically all the stuff I can’t find a home for elsewhere. 🙈 You actually couldn’t get in it this time so it had to change! At every tackle I vow to never let it get that bad again. But this time I mean it honest! 😉🙏🏼🙌 With all that productivity where else to show you but my office space with my @findshop desk I’m still in love with. Jest mięciutkie, wilgotne i nawet jeśli jakimś cudem zostanie się na drugi dzień to nadal jest suuper miękkie❣️😲 (No a jeśli jesteście leniuszkami to możecie wyłożyć po prostu ciasto na blachę, dać na górę owoce i upiec!) 1️⃣CIASTO DROŻDŻOWE 🌻35g drożdży 🌻łyżka cukru 🌻200g napoju sojowego 🌻450g mąki 🌻60g oleju 🌻80g erytrytolu ➡️Do miseczki wrzucamy drożdże, cukier i ciepły (nie gorący!) napój sojowy. Mieszamy aż drożdże się rozpuszczą i dodajemy 3 kopiaste łyżki mąki. Mieszamy, miskę przykrywamy szmatką i odstawiamy na 15 minut w ciepłe miejsce. Po tym czasie dodajemy resztę składników, zagniatamy ciasto i znów odstawimy w ciepłe miejsce, tym razem na 1,5 godziny. Po tym czasie chwile zagniatamy ciasto i rozwałkowujemy na prostokąt 2️⃣NADZIENIE 🌻300g truskawek 🌻70g dżemu truskawkowego 🌻łyżka erytrytolu 🌻15-20g mąki ziemniaczanej ➡️Truskawki kroimy w kawałki i przekładamy do miski, dodajemy do nich erytrytol, mąkę ziemniaczaną i mieszamy. Every now and again I get the odd comment saying: you and Tim are the WORST couple / your relationship is so TOXIC / you guys are SO BAD for each other / you two will NEVER LAST / you guys FIGHT TOO MUCH. 🙊 Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but they kinda missed the point to our show. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ The whole reason why @timnoonantv and I made #ExtremeEngagement was to help dispel the myth that relationships and marriage are supposed to be ‘perfect’ - that is, 100% wonderful, fantastic, peaceful, loving, without any angst, fighting, hurt or heartache ALL the time. THEY ARE NOT! We are peddled this myth from childhood. Thanks to Disney fairytales and other stories, some prince on a horse will ride in and rescue his princess to live ‘happily ever after’. (I don’t care if these are the classics, they have GOT TO GO!) 🤬 Then Hollywood fills the gaps, perpetuating this fallacy that one day we’ll magically find the ‘perfect person’ and our lives will be ‘complete’. (NOOOOO)😱 And now there’s social media. Great on so many levels, but utterly fake in presenting a real image of what a partnership is like. The obsession with #COUPLEGOALS is so 🤯 Tim and I do not have the ‘perfect’ relationship and we happily stand by it. We have both promised to OWN, UNPACK, and WORK on our own sh*t when it challenges us or the relationship, no matter what that is. We even made a show about it - warts and all - and swallowed our pride and privacy to share our extreme HIGHS and LOWS over a 14 month period with the world. It’s impossible to have only the good and not bad. Only positive and no negative. Be real. No one is perfect. So is it reasonable to expect our relationships to be? Its world breastfeeding week! Ive been nursing 2.5 years straight and counting (yes I tandem nurse both Sareena and Shailey ☺️) and I am grateful for the knowledge and support Ive received to be able to do so. Breastfeeding is more than nourishment. It is the best immune system builder, medicine, and source of comfort amongst numerous other benefits. But did you know despite the World Health Organization for children to be nursed until at LEAST age 2, only 5% of breastfeeding mothers nurse beyond 6 months? While this is definitely due to lack of access to certified lactation counselors and other resources and education, its also sadly due to lack of support women receive to continue on and is replaced with the pressure to wean early. My experience with breastfeeding has changed my attitude toward it. I admit I was one of those women who was shy at first to nurse in public, but that never stopped me from doing so because my baby comes first. I always smile encouragingly at other moms nursing their babies as I now understand how not only natural and beautiful it is, its quite unrealistic to cover up all the time especially when dealing with an older baby through nursing gymnastics 😂 I hear so many women struggling with strangers coming up to them and making them feel awful about feeding their babies in public. For anyone shaming a mother who breastfeeds her child, did you know your eyeballs have a function where you can... move them? You can avert YOUR eyes if it bothers you so much. While Ive never experienced a stranger or friend being rude to my face as I am lucky to live in a place where its very encouraged and supported to do so, Ive sadly experienced such backlash from my own mother who was shocked and disgusted I was nursing Sareena past 6 months. Though it hurt, it didnt discourage me from doing what I knew was right for my family as here I am still nursing her... 🤷🏻♀️😂 plus it helps having in-laws that are basically my cheerleaders for nursing as long as I have been! 💕 Mothers deserve unconditional support and encouragement no matter the way they nurture their children. Any recs for non-YA bookstagram accounts to follow? I’m having a lazy Sunday here, tucked beneath a thick blanket (because it is literally freezing out) and I’ve done a lot of scrolling this morning. A definitive pattern is starting to emerge and it revolves around popular YA series. Look, I’m not faulting people for taking pictures of the books they love, but my timeline is more than a little...repetitive. I’d like less Maas and more thrillers, fantasy, historicals, and adult romance on there. The IG algorithm makes finding niche accounts pretty difficult so I’d really love some recs! On that note, don’t expect to see much YA from us going forward. From here on out, I plan to post mostly about our latest ARCs or books from my home library. Historical Fiction is the genre that kick-started my love of reading. Want me to continue? • “Let’s hear it Hakeem!” Perffff, so It starts with 2 easy concepts. • Preframing and Permission. I’ll explain...preframing is simply setting someone up in a desired state of mind before a particular event. Like giving a compliment to a friend before asking for a favor. Simple butttt it works. • Permission is simple. It’s asking to do something before you do it. Crazy radicalllll stuff huh? 🏄♂️ Imagine you had a pen and someone walked up and snatched it without permission. It would be a tense environment. • Vs. someone asking politely “Hi can I use your pen for a second please?” you’d gladly oblige. This is the effect permission can have in a sales situation. Tense vs inviting. I’ll explain more below. Anyways, I use these concepts all the time and it’s made me a ton of 💰and it will for you. • This is what happened with a health coaching client a while back and here’s how it played out. • We got on the phone and did the regular shmegular intro and such “Hey how are you Hakeem?” “I’m well, just pissing people off on fb and giving massive value, so yeah nothing new haha” • So then after a minute of catching up I started to set the preframe BEFORE the actual nitty gritty of the call. “Now before we get into everything, at the end of this call if you’re accepted into my program there’s one thing I want you to know that’s completely okay for you to say. Want to know what that is?” • “Sure go ahead” “That 1 thing is NO, yup NO. I know it may sound weird but I want you understand this is a trusting environment and I would rather you give me a straight up and honest “no” than saying, let me think about it, I have to talk to my husband, I need more time, etc because truly that’s really a no and you just don’t want to hurt my feelings haha” • She laughed and she agreed “You’re right I’ve used the husband line so many times to get out of things 😂” BOOM PREFRAME SET. Обычно Сашка либо детей вообще не видел, либо приезжал уже поздно, когда все устали и хотят спать. Сейчас мне очень нравится, что он видит, как мелкие растут. За время изоляции младший из кабачка превратился в ползающего, сидящего, стоящего, везде смотрящего человека. А старшая — вообще папина дочка. В течение дня она понимает, что папа работает, к папе нельзя. Тихонько подходит, кладёт голову на коленку и убегает обратно». ⠀ Саша: «Когда Ульяна была маленькая, она меня пугалась. Я много времени проводил на работе, я для нее был незнакомым человеком. Приходилось брать отпуск, чтобы наладить с ней контакт. С младшим сыном такого уже не надо делать, я вижу как он растёт и меняется каждый день. Раньше я в основном заканчивал в девять, домой мне ехать полтора часа. Приезжаешь — старшая не спит, потому что она меня ждет, в семь её еле-еле разбудишь. В период самоизоляции у нас у всех появился режим, которого раньше не было. Теперь мы просыпаемся в одно и то же время, ложимся так же. Я Ульяну каждый вечер сам спать укладываю. Ещё появились традиции, мы стали больше времени проводить вместе — с детьми очень интересно. Wolisz książkę papierową czy ebooka/audiobooka? Ebookowcy, czy u Was była to miłość od pierwszego wejrzenia czy relacja z tą formą książki budowała się z czasem? ✨ Moja relacja z ebookami to dość długa historia. Ale zauważyłam ostatnio, że czytam zdecydowanie więcej książek na czytniku niż w wersji tradycyjnej. Zwyczajnie szybciej mi idzie, gdy książkę mogę mieć cały czas przy sobie i przeczytać kilka stron jeśli mam na to chwilę. Z papierowymi wersjami nie zawsze jest to możliwe. Przyznam się Wam szczerze, że gdy kupiłam czytnik nie mogłam się przez dłuższy czas przekonać do tej wersji książki. Miałam kilka podejść zanim naprawdę mi ebooki „siadły”. Z audiobookami mam trochę love-hate relationship i ciągle się do tej wersji książki przekonuję. Słuchałam ich dość często gdy pieszo chodziłam do pracy, ale odkąd ją zmieniłam nie słucham żadnego. 🤷🏻♀️ Mimo wszystko na dłuższą metę wygrywa zdecydowanie papier. Czytnik to w dalszym ciągu jednak ekran a ten czas staram się ostatnio ograniczać. This combo balances out your blood sugar, turns off hunger hormones, and keeps you full while you’re busy doing mom things. Honestly, who has time to eat every 2-3 hours when you’re busy keeping a little human alive? I start my day with tea (usually 2ish cups), then wait until 10 or 11am to have a smoothie.
