I am always a bit late to the party. But here I am...everyone has posted. This Vogue cover of 100 separate images was an achievement and a blessing doing it all on film. Making a point...barely anyone shoots film anymore...sad. But my push to post, naturally is out of respect, but mostly I was seeing through out the day the joy it brought so many others seeing me on the cover of Vogue Italia amongst the 100. I thank all of you who it made happy and put a smile on your face. A special shout out to @jasonsoul1 of Soul Artist who tracked me down while I was peacefully hiding in the mountains of NY and encouraged me to “please say yes”. It was a great day, great studio and shoot, efficiently managed. I registered and walked in together with my dear sweet @pattihansen, then saw others I knew, like my soulmate @kikilayne because whenever we see each other it’s a special environment, location and rarely pre-arranged. All and all it was a special day...knowing we were all conscious of the pandemic, yet felt safe and normal. Thank you @vogueitalia for the collaboration. A quick google search shows that the people featured on the covers of @outsidemagazine are historically and overwhelmingly white and male. This cover is also a white-presenting male child. Props for a cover story on reintroducing American children to the outdoors, but a missed opportunity here to present an image of a child of color enjoying nature. How powerful would that have been? One of the first toys I got for my son 5 years ago was a classic stacking cup toy. He used to play with the cups on the way and at the play date. Nowadays, he still takes the cups with him in bath. It’s that kind of toy you want to have in your bag permanently. Back then it wasn’t a pretty looking toy, but I didn’t care much. But look at this one! Mushie made it pretty looking and fun! Which explained the classic, inimitable grainy looks on the video clip. Platon also slowed down the music and we lip-synched in that pace throughout the shoot. Then he sped it up to normal speed during post production editing, which creates that manic & riotous vibe on the final result. Quite ground-breaking tecnique and i don’t think @platontheodoris deserved enough credit for that. Thanks a lot mate.. and look at how young we were! 😆😃 . I love you, lola. Segundina Maignes my lola (grandma) moved on from this world last night. There’s no record of her age, but she was married during WWII and she only spoke the language of an indigenous Mansaka tribe of Mindanao, Philippines...I loved to try to hear the phonetic differences from Tagalog and considered the rarity of hearing the language being spoken at all, as not many people speak Mansaka anymore. She was a brilliant and loving rascal who loved watching the show Green Acres (Zsa Zsa Gabor was her favorite) with me and played a mouth harp, danced traditional mansaka dances to my dad’s 90s synthesizer music and had an unlimited amount of joyful love to give to her grandchildren. the last time i was able to see her was three years ago, and i’m so grateful for that at least. i will miss you, lola. - @king_j_ames on Instagram

You may or may not have already seen it, but I couldn’t fail to put it here on my main grid as a reminder to myself of how - despite some of the lowest of lows - this year has also brought with it, some of the most wonderful highlights of my life. Of all of the unexpected things that have happened this year, featuring on my own full bleed page in @britishvogue is the thing that my Mother would have celebrated the most. She would have reminded me of how I would save my pocket money to buy Vogue from the age of 12..; She would have reminded me that there are still at least fifty issues (in dubious condition) dating from the early 1980’s languishing in a wardrobe back at my parents home in the Caribbean; She would have held me close and told me that she had always known that all would turn out well in the end... Staying positive isn’t always easy, but it has been made easier for me by having had such a loving and powerful woman in my life. Gatherers 2018-2019. Rossana Martin, Clay Potter: “A brickworks used to exist on the farm my grandparents owned. The surrounding creeks had been silted up with fine china clay, a by-product from local quarrying. Someone realised that although it was the waste from the process, it had the potential to provide a valuable resource if re-washed, and so the brickworks were formed. I grew up exploring these clay river banks, and have always felt a deep affinity with it as a material. On returning to Cornwall a little over a year ago, it felt important to me to go out and collect some of this clay, as a way to reconnect to my home and sense of place here. I have been in love with this particular shade of green, since I first discovered photos of Virginia Woolf’s sitting room at Monk’s House. It packs a punch. It seems to say, or scream, “I’m so happy, that I could kill myself.” It is beyond energizing, and careens head long into disruption. I love to look at it but have chosen to live with it, only in the smallest of doses. I finished watching #ratched last night, and from the first episode throughout the series, I thrilled, in perfect agony at the tidal wave of this, work your nerves green. Resulta que llegando a San Cristóbal me dio Salmonela, y me la pase en el baño por dos días. El primer día de playa me dio una insolación bien cabrona. Y mi cel se murió ese día conmigo. Como que ninguno de los dos aguantamos el calor y la humedad 🥵. Les digo que no es charra, en serio el calor me hace daño. Aun así me empuje a mis límites para disfrutar la playa. Estuvimos en un paraíso, entre #Huatulco y #Zipolite . Cuando podemos viajar, me gusta dejar los últimos días para relajarnos. Este viaje fue de mucho manejar🚙. Fuimos de #Oaxacacity a #Chiapas y de regreso a (Oaxaca playa🏖). Pasamos unos días muy bellos, en lugares lindos y rodeados de gente bella con energía chida. Con vistas de cielos espectaculares, llenos de vegetación y aire limpio. Comimos y bebimos de lo lindo. En los días que vienen, les voy a dejar mis lugares favoritos para comer, y lugares para ver. La cuestión de los hoteles, creo yo es muy personal. Usamos dos veces Airbnb; la primera estuvo dos tres, pero la dueña fue un poco grosera y nunca tuvimos agua caliente. Y todavía así nos dejo un review horrible, porque pedimos agua caliente 😏 en tiempo de lluvias. Pero bueno, cada quien. El segundo lugar lo agarramos en hotels.com en #SanCristóbal y estuvo muy lindo(un poquito ruidoso). Y el tercero fue por #Airbnb otra vez, esta vez tuvimos suerte, fue lo mejor de todo! El lugar está en Puerto Ángel por si quieren les comparta la info. Esta foto es de nuestro ultima estancia, y mi primera vez en una #infinitypool que maravilla, perderse en el agua y ver solo mar abierto. Este lugar está en la jungla, así que van a ver muchos animalitos🦀🐜🦅🐛🦗🦎🐟🐕🦜🐓, y el camino para llegar está medio feo(necesitan un carro que aguante)pero vale la manejada. Es en verdad un paraíso 😍😍😍 . En mi experiencia, el mejor cuarto fue la última estadía, la mejor comida la tiene Oaxaca, la gente mas amistosa en Oaxaca y el mejor clima San Cristóbal. Pero eso depende de los gustos. A LETTER FROM THE CEO  
 There’s something special about lighting a candle. For me, its the calmness of watching the fire. It’s so beautiful and peaceful when its in a controlled environment like a freshly trimmed wicked candle.  
 In the Bible, the presence of fire often symbolized holiness or the process of becoming pure. There is something also beautiful about allowing the Refiner’s fire to purify us, to allow our faith and preferences to be refined by His fire.  
 This is where I am! Although in a season of public wins behind the scenes there have been a lot of things burning away. My preferences, my path to success, or rather me relinquishing the paths I believe will lead me to success. He’s challenging that right now.  
 Before launching Spark my sister Jackie messaged me words Im still attempting to prove true and pure within my heart. She said sis, before you even sell a single candle, remember you are already successful! Whether you sell 20 candles or you sell out you’re successful because you’ve obeyed the Father! With each release, there comes more anxiety to outperform the last drop. Whispers to sell more and sell out faster.  
 Insert my Father. This is why I love being a daughter first. Through love, He continues to pull me even closer to remind me of those words she spoke over me. True success is obedience in Him. His firm but loving corrections when I start to think otherwise is this beautiful fire, beautiful purification process.  
 There is a specific charge I have from Him that Spark will go in another way than the norm, it will be lead and guided by Him. This is step 1.  
 I’m opening the store right now. Everything has been restocked! No major “drop” this time. No race against the clock to outsell the last. I’ve found success before a single sale because of obedience. My prayer is that you’re encouraged to do the same. Present whatever has been your litmus test of success to Him and watch Him sure something up in you and then watch it turn as pure as gold.
