Were all home and need something new to keep us occupied everyday! I recently made these stuffed buns and cocktail pitcher for a karaoke themed family/friend night! Be it a night with fam or roomates.. this combo is a winner! 🥁 HOURS OF FUN ❤️ We were absolutely thrilled to of been asked to design @rochellehumes and @marvinhumes new playroom! We all couldn’t be more proud of how it has turned out ❤️ Rochelle came to us with a few inspo pics and we wanted to not only execute her vision but put our own spin on it and create something that was different, unique and most importantly something that had plenty of storage!! Us mums know how important this is ha! With a baby boy on the way, we wanted to not only spark the children’s imagination but cater to all age groups and genders too! When we were both deciding on the design concept, we just knew we wanted to create something FUN and that still had a theme, flowed and kept in sync even with all the colourful toys ha! We started with the storage solution and planned everything else around that! We loved the idea of having a cupboard big enough to walk in that could house all the toys including the big ones that no one can ever find a home for 😂 We opted for a hugeee cupboard, with shelves set back, so we could fit the bigger toys in too! We didn’t want this to be plain as we felt it may be too bulbous in the room and just not fun enough like we visioned! So we decided to make the doors as frames instead! This way we can change the artwork in the doors if they ever felt they wanted a change! It was also a great way to add a pop of colour to the room. The beautiful curved edges made this even more special and unique and allowed it to flow in the room! @bankscarpentry done an absolutely amazing job executing our vision, the craftsmanship is truly beautiful. Next, with rochelle and Marvin having an entertainment background we knew the room needed a stage! The room was big enough to handle something show stopping so that’s just what we did!! We gave the stage the same curved edges as the cupboard and two giant drawers that pull out fully so the children can always see what’s in them with ease! @bankscarpentry made them so they could withstand an adult standing in them so they are extra strong and sturdy! I AM HAND SEWING A GARMENT! Can you even? look at those hand stitches?! These hands did that! 🙌🏻 If you had told me that someday I would not only make my own clothes but also do it BY HAND, I would have laughed in your face. I’ve so admired people who hand-stitch but thought it was way too hard and required a patience I don’t have ( you’ll notice I’m not a knitter!). But, With a little (ok, a lot) of help from @therealalexisbailey and her smashingly amazing new venture @thimbleandsnip I discovered that I not only CAN hand-sew but I LOVE IT. ❤️. It’s so relaxing. Durante el 2019 y 2020 realicé por primera vez un proyecto textil en el @postgrau_artsaplicades_massana entendiendo el tejido como una forma de pensar capaz de proyectar cuerpos y mundos que nacen desde una relación sentipensante con la materia. Una búsqueda a través de fibras y tintes naturales para establecer diálogos frente a un fundamento que comienza desde la naturaleza. Han sido reflexiones que nacen a partir de una serie de encuentros con el mundo textil presentes en zonas andinas y amazónicas de sudamérica, siendo guías para entender el acto de tejer que se realiza en diferentes culturas indígenas, a través de cosmovisiones ligadas especialmente a la naturaleza, sus ciclos y la simetría entre lo humano y no-humano. Estar lejos me ha servido para pensar desde el sur y entender a las artesanías como un acto de resistencia para descolonizar el saber. These are a few of my house that we affectionately call Shedlands. It’s a wooden self build designed by the architect Walter Segal. It was part of a scheme in which council tenants could apply to build their own homes. Can you imagine that now? Lewisham council were the only borough to go for it and other than a few dotted around including mine in Sydenham there are two streets of them in Honor Oak. I love living here, it’s history, how light and airy it feels and the garden. I especially feel lucky now to have a garden to sit in. Thank you Walter! Síðasta sumar ákváðum við að það vantaði nauðsynlega fjölbreyttari valkost í gistingu hér á Bíldudal; eitthvað sem gæti tekið við þeim ferðalöngum sem stundum koma þreyttir og blautir inn úr tjaldinu sínu þegar lognið er dálítið hratt (sem gerist þó bara sárasjaldan hér á sunny Bíldó, lofa) eða fyrir fjölskyldur eða vinahópa sem vilja nýta sér að vera nokkrir saman í herbergi. Gistiheimilið er stórt og voru mörg rými sem við áttum algjörlega eftir að nýta, þar voru meðal annars, á neðstu hæð hússins 42 m2 sem voru troðfullir af misverðmætum hlutum... Með hjálp góðra vina og vinnumanna tókst þetta allt að lokum og við náðum að gera þetta rými, sem áður var núll og nix, að glæsilegri stúdíóíbúð/ svefnsal sem hýsir 5-7 einstaklinga, með tveimur klósettum, sturtu, eldhúsi og seturými.  Við erum afskaplega stolt af útkomunni og hlökkum til að fá ykkur öll í heimsókn og lofa ykkur að njóta afrakstursins. Last summer we decided that it was time for more options for our guests regarding accomodation, something for families or tired and wet campsite guests that long to get a hot shower and a warm bed when the usually good weather in Bíldudalur is not as nice as usual, which happens rarely ;) Now we can finally share with you our final product of renovating 42 m2 that were before just used for storage, a fully equipped studio apartment that, in the future can also be used for dormitory options. Tomorrow is #OrangeShirtDay. Wearing an Orange Shirt is meant to recognize the harm done to residential school students, and show a commitment to the principle that every child matters. When Nadine McRee thinks of Orange Shirt Day, her kokum immediately comes to mind. “She spent 13 years in residential school, but she could always find the good in life,” McRee says about her grandmother, who passed away last year just two weeks short of her 100th birthday. “I like to take the day to reflect on what she must have gone through, and what so many of our Indigenous peoples went through at residential schools. I give thanks for the resilience many of our Indigenous peoples still exhibit.” McRee is the project director for the new AHS Provincial Indigenous Health Hub. A member of the Saddle Lake Cree Nation in the North Zone, she worked for many years on the Tallcree First Nation in Northern Alberta, and she still maintains many of the friendships that she created there. “Being in the community really opens your eyes to all the additional challenges and barriers many of our Indigenous peoples experience daily,” she says. “I may be living in Edmonton now, but I still think of the youth there and the extra challenges that they have in front of them. How can I make things better? How can I improve health outcomes for our people? We need to make some major changes.” It’s something she likes to discuss with all Albertans. “How many First Nations or Metis Settlements have you been to? Within an hour of pretty much everywhere in this province, there’s an Indigenous community,” McRee says. “Get to know our people. “Fork Press” ™️ process. Early on, I was trying to figure out how I was going to get that signature curve in my forks. Many hours on Reddit later, I found a user from 2009 that had been putting her acrylic cutlery in the oven at a low temperature (to get it malleable) and then sandwiching it between cutlery she already had to mimic the curve. ⁣That led to the idea of making a hand-held press with the positive/negative shape of a fork. After some trial and error, I lined the press with orange pool table felt to prevent any unwanted impressions when the acrylic is warm.
