Maybe sheโs just a morning personโฆย โฃ โฃ OR maybe Iโve spent time adapting and adjusting to get myself in to a good routine of getting up early. And I want to share with you some of my tips to help you dread your morning alarm slightly lessโฆโฃ โฃ 1. Get yourself organised the night before. The fewer the decisions you have to make first thing, the calmer your day will begin. This means pulling out an โoutfitโ to wear, packing your bag, preparing any food to take with you etc. The more done the night before the better. And I guarantee mornings will be a breeze.ย โฃ 2. Donโt snooze your alarm. OK ok, I know this is tough, but snoozing your alarm isnโt actually conducive to getting restful sleep after your alarm has gone off. In fact your body falls in to a state of โwaitingโ for your next alarm which can subconsciously create more of an anxious mind than just getting up. You might feel groggy when your first start doing this but as with anything, it will soon become a normal new routine.ย โฃ 3. Speaking of routine, set out your morning routine from when you wake up to when you leave the front door. What are your non negotiables (shower, eat breakfast etc) and what disrupts the flow of your morning. Identifying a simple routine that you stick to every morning will again take the rushing and the stress out of your day meaning youโll hopefully arrive at your desk in a more positive and productive mindset.ย โฃ 4. Lose the tech. I donโt check my phone until Iโve left the front door. This means that I can focus on the tasks in hand before falling in to the scroll hole. Try putting your phone in another room whilst you get ready to help you focus.ย โฃ 5. Make sure youโre getting ENOUGH sleep. If youโre starting the day feeling exhausted the chances are youโre not getting enough sleep. Happy birthday to my sweet angel, Arlo! He has had quite the year! Heโs grown into the best big brother and he adores his Bubba Oakster. Heโs always wanting to give him hugs and kisses and makes sure Oak never gets ahold of his tiny toys that he could choke on. Heโs also still working on the concept of sharing. ๐ But when he doesnโt want Oak to play with his toys he always finds another one (that he doesnโt care about ๐) for him to play with. Heโs still obsessed with all things cars, trains, monster trucks and any other kind of vehicle imaginable. He also loves โfixinโ stuffsโ with his tools. His favorite shows to watch are Word Party, Peppa Pig, Blippi and YouTube videos of real trains going by. His vocabulary has grown SO much. He never stops talking. Ever. He can recognize and name his shapes, letters and numbers. This last year he traveled to LA, spent several weekends with grandparents and other family, and mostly hung out at home during the days with his Mama, little bro and pup. On weekends he liked to go on bike rides with his Daddy and to play at the park. He started the potty training journey this year, but said heโs waiting til he turns 3 to go ๐ฉ in the potty. Wish us all luck with that. His favorite foods are fruit bars, mac n cheese and cheese burgers. And heโs obsessed with chocolate milk. And sometimes orange juice. He is kind, smart, beautiful and hilarious. He loves being silly and making other people and himself laugh. He will often say โMama, you so pretty!โ Or โMama I wuv you.โ and my heart shatters every time. He is also constantly talking about how himself, Oakie, Daddy, Mama and Walter are all best friends. ๐ญ Lozi Man, Iโm so SO proud of the big boy youโre becoming. I hate pictures of myself. ๐ธ I feel so awkward. ๐ธ I am not photogenic. These are the most common things I hear when I tell my guest I want to take their picture. Believe me, I totally get it. I am only half-way comfortable in front of a camera. I have more pictures with my eyes closed instead of open. I never know what to do with my oddly long legs and arms. And heaven forbid you really make me laugh bc my nose starts to squint and for whatever reason I bite my tongue. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ Over the years, I have learned to listen to my photographers. Thatโs right, I have multiple. Allowing her to pose me, even when it feels awkward. If I need lipgloss, she tells me. If I need to have better posture, we reposition. I value her honesty and professionalism. I donโt love every picture we end up with, but thereโs always a handful Iโm over the moon about. As your stylist, itโs my job to make sure you feel BEEautiful and confident in front of the camera. I donโt expect you to know the perfect angel for your freshly done balayage and root smudge. I will teach you, pose you, make you laugh and I promise to only post the best ones! As a guest, please understand that taking photos of my work is a crucial part of growing my business in this industry. Dear @jntexpressid sudah 5 bulan aku menghabiskan waktu di rumah saja karena rsgm tempat aku menyelesaikan pendidikan drg diliburkan. Untuk mengisi hari hari di rumah agar tidak makan, tidur dan nonton drama korea saja, aku memutuskan untuk membuka online shop ( @gekies.id ) yang berjualan barang-barang ramah lingkungan. Ditengah-tengah menjalankan aktivitas berjualan aku menemukan satu kendala, yaituu memori hp yang terlalu kecil sehingga tidak bisa menginstall sosial media serta ecommerce, dan kadang-kadang tidak bisa melakukan foto/video produk karena memori sudah penuh oleh aplikasi chating yang juga sebagai jalan komunikasi perkuliahan jarak jauh. Alasan kedua aku membuka onlineshop juga agar mendapat uang jajan tambahan dan belajar menghasilkan uang sendiri agar kedepannya bisa mandiri secara finansial. Buat ganti hp, uang tabungan belum cukup, minta ganti hp ke orangtua harus berpikir 2 kali, karena bulan depan juga harus bayar uang kuliah ditambah selama pandemi semua sektor ekonomi mengalami penurunan. Iโll be 34 next month & I even have some lil wrinkles to prove it. Iโm thankful for all the places God has taken me into, and out of. For the people He has let me love and be loved by. Mostly, thankful He loves us all as we are but loves us wayyy too much to leave us that way. If Iโve learned anything at all, only knowing Jesus for the last 5-6 years, itโs the following: ๐ค I am a sinner in desperate need of a savior. I do what I donโt want to do, and I donโt do what I want to...and yet, each day God gives a fresh chance to surrender it all and get back up on the๐ด and try again ๐คIn the best & worst seasons, God is the answer. When everything is going great, itโs Him who we thank and when everythingโs going wrong, itโs Him we can turn to and rest in. We live in a fallen, broken world and He does NOT want to see us suffering and thatโs why He gives us the option of surrendering & resting in a peace that surpasses all human understanding. ๐ค no pandemic, illness, lie, loss, situation, person or thing is too big for God to heal, remove, change, undo. Sometimes, He lets us walk through things longer than we prefer to help, grow, sharpen us..whether we see it in that time, or not. ๐คforgiveness is a COMMAND & is to be given f r e e l y despite deservedness, circumstance or how the other person is acting. weโre forgiven AS WE forgive otherโs trespasses yโall. itโs not optional; sure, you can/should remove yourself, where possible, from unrepentant and unwilling to change/grow people but you still have to FORGIVE them, whether theyโre sorry or not. Jesus said it best, โforgive them Father, they know not what they do.โ And when people *are* repentant, we better forgive them over + over again. I thought I was so forgiving and have had to learn this anew ๐ฃ๐ฅ #truth ๐ค marriage is the perfect example of Christโs love because in order to succeed, you truly must learn to die to your self, and put your partner ahead of you, or it doesnโt really work out. itโs worth it 1000%. @mcastromusic is worth it 3000. ๐ค love + solid community = answer to literally everything ๐ค I ainโt perfect but Iโm worth it & so are YOU I love yโall! Volume 1 of our Fall20 collection is here! It is made up of 8 pieces - about half the size of our typical collections in the past, but in some ways Iโm more excited about this collection than ever. The design process for these pieces happened last spring, during the peak of uncertainty with Covid. To be honest, I wasnโt sure weโd even have a fall collection given the challenges we were facing here and those our partners were facing in Nairobi. In some ways, given the state of the world, coming out with new product like nothing was different just didnโt feel right to me, but pressing pause completely wasnโt the answer...after all, we need to press on and find joy in the midst of uncertainty. So instead of a full fall collection, I decided mini collections, or volumes, was the way to go. It feels right. The inspiration for these pieces came straight out of how I was feeling last spring. I was craving normalcy, security, joy, beauty, the ability to plan, and trying to fight back fear. All I wanted to wear were pieces that felt comforting, but at the same time I wanted to get dressed up to feel like everything was ok. It was (and still is) a time of conflicting emotions. I hope youโll find that these 8 pieces reflect my and our collective desire and need to find joy in the simple and unexpected places as well as a rejection of giving in to fear and doom. In the wake of losing RBG, it is as important as ever to choose the discipline of hope! Theres no doubt 2020 has been the strangest year of my life and Im not alone there. I am mostly grateful for the positives; my kittens, my fiance Mark, and living in such a beautiful place (Whistler/Vancouver BC). โ โ โ โ I would be lying if I didnt say that this global pandemic isnt really scary though. I am sad for all those who have lost people. The thought of getting COVID, or giving it to others, is scary too. โ โ โ โ I am also unsure for my industry. Ive worked in the travel industry almost my whole adult life. I am still employed but have been furloughed since March. Ive watched countless friends lose long term jobs, and it really sucks. I know it will bounce back, but we dont know how long we can hang on for. I miss travel and my family, all the way across the world in Australia, half a world away!โ โ โ I think we try to project positivity all the time, but its ok to be uncertain. Most of the time I still feel happy, and Im thankful for so many things, but its ok to have bad days. I hope this resonates with other people who are living with so much uncertainty at the moment. It canโt be a Miller family photo without a little dysfunction. ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ . . This weekend was great. Perfect to bring in Fall. It was in the 60s and we did all the fall things. We wore sweatshirts, we had fireside chats, we went to a pumpkin patch, we played outside and let the crisp air fill our hearts. It was perfect. ๐๐งก๐๐ค . . I cherish these moments, but sometimes it makes me wonder about the future. What will it look like?? I often pray that our boys and their own families will cherish these old traditions with us, include us in their new traditions and I pray they continue to come to us for guidance and appreciate/respect us as parents. . . Then I wonder about Theodore. Will he graduate from college, will he marry, will he live on his own, will he get stronger, will he feel he lived a happy life? A couple times a year Keith and I evaluate what may be or could happen and it takes me a while to wrap my head around the best and worst case scenario. Let me tell you the emotions are humbling. . . Seasons change, things come and go, but I canโt help wonder what God has planned for my family. Good, bad or ugly I am glad they are mine. โค๏ธ . . We have a 1 year old. Whoa. . It would be fitting that this boyโs first birthday would occur during a pandemic considering how difficult it was to bring him here. But he is resilient. As is his Mother. And the show had to go on. It was just a much smaller show than we would have liked. We would have loved to have all our friends and those closest to us there but we landed on our immediate family only, all trying our best to practice social distancing and even eating at 4 different tables. What a wild time to be alive. . I canโt seem to grasp how the time slips away. A few days turn to months and those moments turn into a year. Itโs been such a trying and joyous adventure with him. But being a dad has quickly become my favorite thing about myself. I love waking him up and starting each new day with our little buddy, as he waves at me, with a multitude of binkies in his hand as I walk into his room. . Weโre grateful to a Father in Heaven for letting us be his earthly parents. And it was a joy to celebrate His son on this same day, to celebrate His life and resurrection. Our 2020 Junior Royalty court was asked to attend a @jhgfoundation Florida fundraiser that was held this past weekend at the Union Station Depot in downtown Plant City. The event was held in honor of one of our former Junior Royalty Queens, Morgan Pierce. The girls painted rocks, participated in an art auction, and celebrated the life of a sweet young lady who gave so much during her time here on Earth. When you go to work each day (especially on days that your bed is begging you not to leave it), or throw the 4th loaf of laundry in the washer (when what you really feel like doing is tutoring it out the window), what is the reason you keep pushing forward? Itโs easy to lose sight of our whys when for many of us the pandemic continues to be a very real part of our world. Childrenโs dentistry is a massive component of our healthcare model here at Luminous. Throughout my career, I had many burning questions about how to truly prevent tooth decay & braces in children. I didnโt stop until I had turned over all the stones to find the answers to the things I found which didnโt all add up. Through my continued international education in the industry, I have created a dental healthcare model that is the first of its kind in Australia. With the help and expertise of my husband and principal dentist @drstevenlin, I am proud to say we are at the forefront of true preventive dental care for children. So much so that we are now working with a team of dental professionals in the US to replicate the functional dental model that we have created. Itโs certainly exciting times in the industry and I am so proud of myself for pushing forward with my passions and annoying attitude of searching for the truth lol. We have many children all around Australia that trust our team with their dental health. Modern technology has allowed us to continue to offer care to these patients over Zoom appointments and I just think this is amazing to still allow access to this care and approach, despite their geographic location. This post is a long time coming...I have officially taken the position as the art director at @lindsayletters.co! Every month has brought a new trial or tragedy and it never felt like the right time to announce it. Now that the entire world is in crisis, I figure there is no point in waiting till a good time to do so. Some housekeeping: -I am no longer booking weddings or portrait sessions. -I have been unofficially in this role for around 8 years so its been such a joy to do this full time now. -Working with Linds and providing beautiful art for homes is so meaningful to me. She is brave, strong, creative, genuine and steadfast on top of being the most talented artist I know. -The team I get to be a part of has been problem solving and creating beauty in the midst of uncertainty and difficulties for several months now. -After being a wedding photographer exclusively for 15 years (which I loved), I started to feel a creative itch to expand and try new things. I spent the last several years experimenting (interiors, styling, creative directing) to find where I wanted to land. Big brother update. โก So far, adding another little one to our family has gone better than I ever expected it to. Hampton constantly asks to hold baby Pierce, kisses him, talks to him and wants to know what he is doing. We do constantly have to remind H that he needs to use *gentle* touches (like when he tries to poke babyโs eyes ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ) and that he isnโt quite big enough to carry Pierce around the house. ๐ Hampton has definitely acted out some since bringing baby home, but hasnโt acted out towards the baby (yet) - which I think is great! Hopefully it stays that way. ๐ค๐ผ Hampton has always been such a mamaโs boy so I was really worried there would be a lot of jealousy around me constantly holding baby P and feeding him, but that hasnโt seemed to be the case. When Tayva was a baby, I probably had a photoshoot for her every other week. I have endless amounts of posed photos of baby Tayva. Carter is almost 6 months old and weโve only had a handful! I thought this made me kind of shitty, but then I reflected a little deeper. Of course my first baby is going to have a few โextrasโ in terms of celebrations and photos. I had the time! Itโs really that simple. I had more time. I had the benefit of living with my mom and only 1 child to focus on. Do your artworks exist for a limited period of time?โ Evalie Wagner: โIn my exhibitions, I combine organic and inorganic materials. Objects and painting capture time and bring it to a standstill. But the essence of nature is change. For botanical installations, this special circumstance means a lot of planning, knowledge and spontaneity at the same time. In May things look a little different than in October, and the work of art also changes over the duration of the exhibition. Really hard to even fathom what it must be like for these kids right now. Iโve been really thinking about how social I was as a kid and to be away from my friends for this long would have had me bummed out. Worry keeps me up a bit at night really thinking on the impact it could have on him but then I see him expressing himself everyday through art and I am thankful he is this creative little creature and we get to live in this incredible landscape.
