Most of our participants had already booked their return journey in advance. From Santiago the Chile it doesn’t really matter if you depart from Brazil or Cartagena. The journey there is about the same distance. But when the COP got moved to Spain and the Regina Maris had to change course it ended up in Cartagena instead - lucky for those who had booked their return journeys from there. The people with a departure from Natal still had quite a way to go. My girl - Maya is turning 18 months old this month (yes, already 😭), and I can’t count the number of times a day I turn to my husband and say “Did you see that!? How adorable is she?” or we swap a cute aggression look with each other (the face scrunching is undoing all my skincare efforts, so she needs to tone it down). When I shared about a month ago how stressful and burdensome parenting felt recently, a lightness came over me the next day. Sharing a vulnerable admission that I felt shame over opened a door for that shame to leave and gratitude and joy flowed back in. And it reminded me about my why... I started my blog six years ago so I would have a place to share the more delicate details of my life and my experience with navigating Hashimoto’s and infertility as a 20-something. I felt alone and wanted to share my story in hopes someone else out there would feel less alone reading it. I wanted to create a space for humans to be human. To be works in progress, to be flawed, to not be judged or condemned for their decisions or beliefs. To be spirited and hopeful and to laugh and remember lightness and purity. This is a space where all are welcome - for my beliefs are not the determinant of what is right nor wrong but a reflection of my own experiences and perspectives. My hope for my children is that they view others with a less critical lens than that they are judged. And that they provide space for others to be who they are in the moment as humans are constantly and chronically evolving and adapting. As I sit here writing #MyDogStory on my 50th birthday, indie at my feet looking up with her sweet eyes. I can’t help to get lost in all our adventures from hiking in the North Cascades, to sunrise camping trips in Canada, or chilly swims in Alpine lakes. 8 years ago, Indie entered my life with the encouragement of my kids after losing our first dog Casey. Maybe they knew that I would need a companion to keep my mind off of them leaving for college, but what we all didn’t realize is how much Indie was going to change my life. After coming across @campingwithdogs, I was inspired to get back outside and explore. Indie has always been by my side, through every adventure, with only love and excitement. ENGAGEMENT STORY🥂 (full story in blog!) SO. LONG STORY SHORT, here’s our magical weekend 🤍 It all started with a manicure - clutch move on Nates part. For the rest of the weekend I was fully convinced we were doing favours for both our parents and watching our younger siblings. We were on our way to Van to “pick up” his siblings and bring them home for the evening. We were waiting on the beach under this beautiful tree in Deep Cove and he begins telling me how much he loves me and how much I mean to him and goes DOWN ON ONE KNEE and asks me to marry him 🤍 I LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH and seriously can not believe I get this honour!! I say YES of course and he puts the most beautiful ring on my finger and we hug and I’m in shock and LAUGHING and then realize hiding under the beautiful tree is a photographer who captured the whole moment. Never thought I would be so surprised during this special moment and can’t believe how ready I am to say yes to this boy 🤍 We head down to the dock to take some pictures, me having NO idea what’s about to come, and while we’re smiling Nate just hops into this BOUJEE speedboat tied up right there!! Punch me in the FACE I’m like WHAT!? Him, “You coming or what?? Hop in gorgeous!” I’m SHOCKED. I hop in laughing and as we speed off Nate pulls out Champaign (the real deal 🥺) followed with my swimsuit & a picnic with all my fav food! We zip around the gorgeous Indian Arm for a few hours happy as can be. THEN, he’s like alright we gotta return this thing back to Coal Harbour where I picked it up early this AM. We return the boat and are walking along the sea wall in Vancouver when he turns down the FLOAT PLANE ramp and I’m about loose my marbles!! He had prepared the staff to convince me we were just going on a tour of van, but we end up landing in WHISTLER and THEN Nates car is there filled with my suitcase and groceries and wine!! I’m DEAD. He says surprises over, we’re staying in whistler for 3 nights 🤍 JOKES ON ME the weekend was still full of the best surprises like massages at the Scandinave Spa & SKYDIVING are u kidding me - it was perfect and Instagram won’t let me type any more in this caption lolol 🤍 I LOVE U NATE U KING - @ellaklassen on Instagram
