Despite this fact, they didn’t want the book to be thrown away or unloved. They asked if I knew someone who might appreciate and love it the way they had. I felt grateful to have such generous admirers of my work, and thought this might be a good place to see if someone wanted it, free of charge. So let me know in the comments if you feel this book is for you. The dedication has been cut out of the first page but other than that is intact. That silence can be so damn powerful. Put down the defense knowing that no one can demand you change except for you. Only YOU can sign off on your change. La proprietà fu acquistata per 1’000 scudi d’oro dalla famiglia Mattei e la costruzione della Villa venne affidata all’architetto Giacomo Del Duca (1581) da parte di Ciriaco Mattei. Quest’ultimo, con grande magnanimità, concedeva - in occasione del pellegrinaggio alle Sette Chiese istituito da San Filippo Neri - l’apertura del suo giardino al popolo romano. Tornando alla Villa, le maggiori trasformazioni si ebbero però all’inizio dell’800 quando il nuovo proprietario il principe Godoy introdusse nel parco le forme del giardino all’inglese, redistribuendo nel parco le antichità superstiti alla vendita delle collezioni cedute nel 1766 a Clemente XIII Rezzonico (primo nucleo del Museo Clementino in Vaticano). Appartenuta infine al barone sassone Hoffmann, fu quindi confiscata dallo Stato che nel 1925 cedette il Parco al Comune di Roma per adibirlo a giardino pubblico, conservando la proprietà del Casino, oggi sede della Società Geografica Italiana. Nel 1931 l’antico portale di ingresso fu sostituito con quello proveniente dalla distrutta Villa Giustiniani (foto 7). Nel parco restano in tempietto neo-gotico (foto 8), alcune antichità (foto 6), una fontana del Fiume con figura maschile sdraiata in peperino (foto 9) ed infine un obelisco (foto 10 con al lato uno dei due “dolium”). Questo obelisco- uno dei tredici presenti a Roma, cd “spiedino” perché frammentario - è risalente al faraone Ramsete II. Il Senato lo donò nel 1582 a Ciriaco Mattei dopo essere stato situato sul lato destro del convento dell’Ara Coeli. - @esseenne69 on Instagram

Ash has been falling from the sky all day. In just a few hours it will turn to snow. Bizarre. Ive brought my tomatoes in for a few nights and cut a bunch of daisies for pressing. Spent the weekend at the river, crying hot tears into the current. I share more things on Instagram when Im feeling good, and I know you know this but just want to make sure you know my life is not just as it appears here. What I post publicly is always honest, but its never the full picture. It couldnt be. Ive been struggling lately with mental and emotional wellbeing, art, business, my place in humanity. Yearning for collaborative creative connections, in person would be wonderful but feels like a far-off dream now. Dealing with trauma from the summer. Trying to take care of myself while also playing some part in caring for the collective. Having small acknowledgements — ah, yes, that feels nice, maybe more of that — and moments of complete despair when I cry so hard blood vessels burst under my eyes. Its been important to pause sharing, consuming, and creating from time to time. Theres really nothing more to this other than a reminder to both of us that Instagram is a snapshot, often a highlight reel. We all know this, but its so easy to forget, isnt it? Hope youre taking care of yourself, too. Also, I want to make it clear this is not a cry for help. I am thankful to have an incredible support system in place. I’m not sure if it’s hormones or just reality setting in, but I’ve been extra emotional and in my own head these past few weeks. I’m doing my best to be intentional with this time with Joy before I’m sharing my time between her and her little brother or sister. Intentional in caring for my own basic needs (nutrition, hydration, sleep and connection) when so much feels out of control in this world right now. And perhaps weighing the heaviest on my heart, intentionally evaluating/executing if I’m not continuing generational habits and tendencies that don’t serve our family well. * I’m learning the oh so hard lesson of not only how hard parenting is, but how sometimes the most healing thing we can do is just to simply choose not to let history repeat itself. And that even part of grieving what maybe pains us from our own childhood is to let that grief serve the next generation as we try to gracefully forgive and let go. No, not to let the pendulum swing too far in the other direction but to make the minor, medium (or for some, I’m sure major) adjustments to ensure we’re leading the little lives entrusted to us well. This is really hard and I find myself talking with the Lord about it a lot. * I don’t think I’m nailing this whole parenting thing but I’m trying my darn best and I do think that when I look back at this season of life I can confidently say I did the best I could with what I knew at the time. * I snapped this photo of Joy and my footprints on our much appreciated family vacation this past February. It was such a reminder of the responsibility and gift of being a Mama. As this year has unfolded, it somehow seems even more precious. Wanted to show the reality of backpacking, it’s definitely not always glamorous alpine scenery like you see on Instagram. I’ve found that the more miles you hike, the more highs you have, but the more lows too. This last trip taught me how to EMBRACE THE SUCK! Do not underestimate the miserable moments you are sure to have. You will be hot/cold/tired/lonely/sick of dirt/in pain/hungry/itchy/UNCOMFORTABLE. The discomfort is part of the process. There is nothing to grasp for to distract you or to escape. Whatever is arising is all you have, that and whatever you got in your backpack. So many moments I had to say to myself THIS IS JUST WHAT’S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. Mental, physical, spiritual breakdowns (tantrums?) are a part of the process. Stuff you don’t usually see on popular IG accounts: permanently dirty feet no matter the amount of soaking, hip welts, extreme UV (my first neck peel 🙁), elevation eyes, destroyed lips, BLISTERS, boring slogs for hours (why did no one warn me about reds til duck creek?), no human contact for long periods, bugs, broken gear. Etc. For me this particular JMT section hike was intense and came with a huge catharsis on the last night where I was able to shed a lot of energy I didn’t need to carry anymore. I had put so much of myself into this hike and now it was ending. Anyone who follows me knows how much I have invested into the JMT. Sin lugar a dudas esta visita está en las Top 3 de mis visitas a bodegas del Marco de Jerez. @bodegasyuste ubicada en Sanlúcar de Barrameda fundada en el año 1989, hice un largo recorrido por su bodega donde @gabrielsanlucar Me hizo disfrutar como un niño cuando está en un parque de atracciones y tiene la oportunidad de probar todo lo que uno quisiese. Espectacular no, lo siguiente. Actualmente han fichado a una enóloga que ha estado trabajando en Borgoña, Chile, y con Willy Pérez; @cardlpa ideas frescas para una generación nueva que va pisando fuerte y que sé que le irá muy bien. Tuve la oportunidad de probar diferentes soleras y 1° y 2° criaderas de su manzanilla Aurora como de su manzanilla La Kika, una de las mejores manzanillas de Sanlúcar ( es mi opinión ). Posteriormente probé su afamado y ya conocido para mí Conde de Aldama ; cuando se adquirió este magnífico vino en 1927 ya era un amontillado de primerísima calidad y uno de los más viejos en crianza (más de un siglo de vejez media) del Marco de Jerez, con 98 puntos Peñìn. Si eso fue un espectáculo maravilloso para el paladar , yo, siendo amante de los vinos dulces , y probar un moscatel qué no comercializa y que lo tiene para él fue algo ..que se queda para mí, miel para los ángeles.. Para terminar un pequeño regalo , vino dulce con uvas tintas que no desvelaré mucho más, quién quiera tendrá que ir allí y probarlo por sus propios medios. One of the consequences of the colonization of the Philippines is that the Spanish assigned new Christian surnames to the indigenous people they encountered (Cruz = cross). In fact, it was not uncommon for siblings in the same family to be assigned different last names. The long-term effect of this practice is that many Filipinos, including myself, have been unable to trace the specific indigenous groups our families come from. . There was this one visit I had with my dad when I was home on winter break from college. I had been experiencing a lot of grief around not having been raised with my Filipino culture or language. . I finally worked up the courage to ask my dad why he hadnt raised me with more culturally Filipino. To my surprise, he straight up said it was because he wanted me & my siblings to have the best chance to succeed. I understood this to mean that he believed being a westerner, NOT Filipino, would be my best chance for success. . This hit me like a punch in the gut. All my life, I thought my dads distance in my life was because he didnt love me, but keeping himself from me & his culture, MY culture, was an act of love, not indifference. It was a profound realization to me, & something I still dont feel able to express fully. . Later, when I would educate myself about the colonization of the Philippines & the indigenous resistance that took place, I asked my dad if he knew what region of the Philippines our family came from. He looked at me blankly; he didnt know… he never thought to ask his parents, who were now, no longer living. . I dont know where I come from & that was part of the plan. Separating people from their roots & traditions is a colonial strategy. Killing & displacing people, changing names, shifting values, rewriting history, & making us forget who we are; making us feel like we have no claim to our own identities... 31 years ago, on the 6th of August 1989, my aunt and uncle lost their two little girls (Maya, one-year-old and Rouba, 3 years old) who drowned in the sea, under the bombings, while trying to escape Beirut to Cyprus. I lived all my life with this family trauma, yet thinking I’ll never see, feel or witness whatever our parents saw and felt. My family’s tragic story is one of many others… Growing up here in Beirut was a blessing. All of us, the post war generation, had decided to put the past behind us, and I always wanted to believe I could make it work out of here, thanks to countless brilliant creatives and entrepreneurs who fought so hard to give us the chance to create work that is representative of where we come from, without ever being ashamed of our origins. Together, we were building this messy but magical piece of paradise called Lebanon. Every time I would attend a work meeting in London, Paris or NY, people would tell me: “You will never make it out of Lebanon.” But I wanted to prove them wrong. Yet, here we are, 31 years later, going through the same nightmare because of the SAME criminal and corrupt politicians. The same ones who are responsible for the murder of my cousins, the same ones who robbed us, broke our wings, destroyed every inch of Lebanon, are now shamelessly feasting on our blood, glued to their chairs. I’m so grateful to be alive after the massive Beirut explosion of the 4th of August, to even have the energy to write these words, to fight on the streets for my best friend who miraculously defeated death, and all the rest of my brothers and sisters who have lost everything in a split of a second, their flats, their businesses, parts of their bodies, their loved ones, their hopes and their dreams… all blown into thin air. I’m safe, yes, but like everyone else, something is dead inside of me. With your help, we will be able to rebuild. Cabinet Card, mid 1880s This photo can be dated by a number of features. First, the slim fit and cropped length of her sleeve place it in the 1880s. The draped overskirt, too, is a solid clue that it’s from the 1880s. In the early years of the 80s, dress silhouettes were quite slim, with a long basque that fit closely over the hips. This dress has a short basque and the width of the hips are exaggerated by the overskirt. While we cannot see a bustle, this wider silhouette is a good indication that she has one. The bustle reappeared in 1883 and reached its apogee in 1886. This photo was likely taken during that time. Another clue to note is the asymmetrical drape of her overskirt. In the early years of the 80s, fashion dictated symmetry. When the bustle returned, however, asymmetry became the order of the day and stayed the norm for the duration of the decade. Happy Grandparent’s Day! Today Bowie, my parents, and I got to visit my 103 year old Aunt Dorothy. None of us have seen her since March (my Dad saw her daily before covid) so this visit was a big deal for everyone. Her community set up visiting stations where you could talk on the phone through a plastic covered window for 30 minutes. I am so thankful for the people who work in her community for taking such amazing care of my Aunt Dorothy and for setting up these visiting areas. I am also so thankful that my Aunt Dorothy has really been a grandparent to me my whole life, but especially after my Bubbie passed away when I was 12. I am so lucky to have/had such amazing women as grandparents. Ho provato un brivido quando mi sono trovata al cospetto di questo mosaico. Non ne avevo mai visto uno a distanza cosi ravvicinata. Non è possibile calpestare questo pavimento originale proveniente dalla Villa dei Papiri di Ercolano ma vederlo da vicinissimo si. Ancora non sapevo cosa avrei visto nella sala successiva. Nella sezione dedicata alla Magna Grecia infatti, si può camminare letteralmente sopra a pavimentazioni provenienti da Cuma, Pompei ed Ercolano. Si devono ovviamente indossare dei calzari per proteggere e preservare questi resti preziosi. La sensazione è fantastica, a dir poco. Per chi come noi ama la storia e prova una venerazione per la grandezza degli antichi Romani poter vedere così bene una loro creazione, con tutti i dettagli che la caratterizzano, è un piacere difficile da descrivere. Grandiosa l opera di smantellamento del materiale dalla sede originaria e la successiva ricostruzione. Il MAAN è uno scrigno prezioso. Dopo averlo conosciuto in maniera virtuale durante la quarantena grazie al videogioco Father&Son abbiamo apprezzato immensamente visitarlo dal vivo. I took this photo on March 16, 2020 at 6:40 pm. It was right before I walked out of the building, saying a little goodnight to the ol’ gal before shelter in place went into effect at midnight. None of us had any idea what the next phase would look like, least of all me. I tried to be brave and strong for the team and for myself. I focused on doing the next thing, the next thing, the next thing. I didn’t actually take that many photos @theassemblysf over the years. I’m thankful I turned around and took this shot. I’ll always remember this room as bustling with people and energy, but I also cherish the moments like this. What a sight. I am so grateful to have had the chance. I have shed so many tears over the last five months — tears of grief and sadness and frustration and anger. This week I have been able to smile too (usually also while 😭) seeing the memories and all the wild stuff we tried. We took ambitious ideas and made them happen in days. We saw possibilities. We got to do this together. We were unabashedly extra. Never feel bad for doing the most. Even in the hardest, most heart breaking moments, we have to hold each other. Thank you all for the past few days of messages. I will try to hold it together tonight, but if you’ve been in any of the classes this week you know I won’t be able to. I am a wreck! I want to say so much, but right now just thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Join us tonight (anyone! Really!) if you want to reminisce together and probably have a good, happysad cry. There are certain behaviors we’ve had since birth. There are certain habits we form growing up. There are certain patterns we carry into adulthood. Today was the last day of a challenge I did with @aureliamichaelliving for the month of July. We got to choose whatever we wanted to commit to for the 31 days of July. I chose a mile of movement a day, and practicing my Spanish every day. I don’t know why but for some reason I did NOT want to break these commitments. I made them to myself and more than ever before, that was really important to me. So even when it was raining all day or when I didn’t have time to go for a walk, I marched in place until my Apple Watch said 1 mile. Sejarah Nih Guys Lokananta adalah perusahaan rekaman musik (label) pertama dan satu-satunya milik negara. Didirikan pada tanggal 29 Oktober 1956 pada pukul 10.00 atas inisiatif R. Maladi dan berlokasi di Solo, Jawa Tengah. Memiliki nama resmi pertama yaitu “Pabrik Piringan Hitam Lokananta Jawatan Radio Kementerian Penerangan Republik Indonesia”. Fungsi utamanya saat itu adalah sebagai unit pelaksana untuk duplikasi materi siaran RRI. Sempat diusulkan bernama “Indra Vox” singkatan dari Indonesia Raya Vox, namun kemudian ditolak Bung Karno. Mulai tahun 1958, piringan hitam mulai dicoba untuk dipasarkan kepada umum melalui RRI dan diberi label Lokananta yang kurang lebih berarti seperangkat  gamelan surgawi dalam pewayangan Jawa yang dapat berbunyi sendiri dengan merdu. Le battaglie per lambiente si fanno con i fatti concreti, non solo a parole. Se vogliamo davvero rendere Bologna una città allavanguardia sulla #sostenibilità, dobbiamo continuare a fare passi tangibili come questo. Passi che da subito hanno ricadute positive sulla #cittadinanza, consentendo di ridurre la produzione e l’uso di #plastica e le emissioni causate dai #trasporti. Вначале матчи без зрителей, потом и вовсе их отмена. Одни играют, другие - нет, полный цирк... Выезд в горы не стал исключением. Меньше чем за неделю стало известно что матч не состоится... Билеты у большинства были куплены, да и компания собиралась нешуточная. Полетели по итогу впятером, причём все из разных городов. Брянск. Москва. Калининград. Сургут. Погода была отличная. Гуляли все время в шортах, ели традиционную кухню, наслаждались свежим воздухом, много пили и угарали. Выбрали отдельный день для поездки в горы. В день матча сгоняли на стадион, где повесили банер и начали заряжать. Погода весьма порадовала. На удивление местные оказались весьма гостеприимны. It was late afternoon and the sun as flickering through the trees creating new patterns.
