Ive struggled with consistency since the beginning of entrepreneurship. Maybe its the lifestyle or maybe its the job itself. Maybe its both. But as a one member business, it can be tough to keep a consistent schedule while trying to manage so many different tasks. 🕓 Every week, my schedule changes. I try my best to stick to set hours, but I also dont want that to lead me to working all day long until my evening sessions. This happens way more than it should. Without consistency, I will lead myself right into burnout. 🥵 So, with all that said, there are a few things I do to keep myself on track. 📔 Bullet Journal. On Sundays, I make columns for each day of the week as a journal entry with a to do list of the items I would like to accomplish on the side. Next, every night, I will write out my prioritized tasks for the next day. This helps me stay organized & keep a record of what needs to get done. 📅 On my desk is a large 12-month calendar where I use different colored sticky notes to schedule my sessions, weddings, meetings, social outings, calls, and more. Its really useful when Im needing to check my availability or see what is coming up this week that I need to prepare for. I find that keeping my schedule all on my phone can be very distractiong for me, and I would rather have minimal distraction while Im working. 💥 THIS IS THE BIG NEWS. Like I said, Ive had a bit of a struggle managing all of my tasks, soooooo....drumrolllllll plzzz 🥁🥁🥁 🎊 I hired an assistant to help me with the backend tasks that I dont always have time for! This means that Ill be so much more present and available for all of my clients. By giving up control, Ill be able to pour from a full cup and serve you all with the best possible experience as your photographer! IM SO EXCITEDDDDD YALL!! September 15th. Four years ago today was my first day as a full-time freelance artist and business owner. It was my last day working as a UI/UX designer for a tech company. I had amazing coworkers, hours, and benefits, and I loved the job itself, so I felt very torn when I left to devote all my time to painting. I didn’t know if it was the right move, but I felt like I had to try, and the thought of it being my job was in my grasp with a new restaurant commission. Four years. I celebrated today by paying my quarterly estimated taxes. 😂 But seriously, I wouldn’t trade the last four years for anything. Making art for a living has been an experience that I will never, ever take for granted. Thank you - truly, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to everyone who has supported my work.
