Paratroopers pass through Carentan. June 1944 On June 6, 1944, the Allies launched a large-scale air, sea and amphibious assault. More than 150,000 men would come ashore in one day. The amphibious assault started around 6 a.m., while at 12:15 a.m. the 101st Airborne Division and 82nd Airborne Division had landed behind Utah Beach. The paratroopers had been ordered to stop the German reinforcements before they reached Utah Beach or Omaha Beach. Parte 3 y final: Este proceso llegó a su clímax con la cesión de títulos de dominio a agricultores de la zona, para la construcción de los denominados “Huertos Familiares”. -Las consecuencias de una nueva fase de modernización capitalista en nuestra comuna- Las reformas neoliberales propias del capitalismo que patrocinó la dictadura durante la década de los ochenta, impulso una profunda reestructuración de la geografía económica de nuestra comuna. lo que mercantilizó el acceso a la vivienda e impulso nuevos proyectos inmobiliarios, similares a los gatted communities (barrios cerrados) norteamericanos, lo que intensificó la segregación urbana de nuestra comuna . Unido a lo anterior, se experimentó un proceso de privatización de servicios básicos y aislamiento de familias pobres en sectores de viviendas sociales. Ejemplos de ello son los procesos de tomas de terreno y erradicación en sectores como la candelaria, Boca Sur y San Pedro de la Costa, que según sus propios vecinos: “Los llevó de sectores pobres hacia terrenos polvorientos y escondidos” . Conclusión De la revisión histórica del proceso de conformación de la desigualdad en San Pedro de la Paz, se extraen varias lecciones medulares. La primera, es que la morfología territorial de la comuna, respondió en primera instancia, a un proceso modernizador del capitalismo, en el que prevaleció el criterio económico sobre el social. Por su parte, el modelo de desarrollo económico hacia adentro, produjo los mayores avances arquitectónicos y de calidad de vida, para los vecinos de nuestra comuna, contrario a lo que ocurrió en dictadura, donde se acrecentó la desigualdad y se repitió el patrón que precarizó y segregó a las comunidades más pobres, perpetuando así las distancias con los grupos históricamente más privilegiados. A modo de reflexión final, cabe destacar que la conciencia de esta brecha, genera un componente subjetivo de desigualdad, que lleva a percibirla como una permanente afrenta a la dignidad personal de los que la experimentan. “Lako prijevozni zdrug” - In the Italian 3rd Cavalry Division, 8th Italian Army, there was a peculiar division whose existence has been barely mentioned in the years after the war. This was the Croatian Light Transport Brigade, a brigade of volunteers from Independent State of Croatia which served in the Italian Army on the Eastern Front in late 1942. This formation came into existence after request by Italian authorities (given the fact that Croatia had already created a German-Croatian Wehrmacht Regiment). It firstly fought against Partisan formations in 1941, but was sent to Italy for further training. It participated in the Battle of Stalingrad, more precisely in the battles on the Don River. It was completely destroyed by the Red Army in December 1942. Much like their national counterparts in the German Army, they wore Italian uniforms with Croatian insignia and carried Croatian flags. - Interesting: This formation, of about 1,200 volunteers at its peak, sparked regional headlines in 2008 after the discovery of 16 killed legionnaires in Russia. I need to get something off my chest here. Land rovers and landrover ownership used to be about adventure and exploring but now this has mostly been replaced by how much money youve got (or in even more cases how much likes/followers you have). Now dont get me wrong, i like land rovers being saved and restored... but for the love of god whats the point of having an extremely expensive landrover with a engine that is way to large, to powerfull and to shiny to use it.. Now call me crazy or stupid or whatever but im choosing my old, scruffy, dented, very smoky and very very slow land rover above all the others. From the initial adoption of a rigid racial and physical selection of their members, it was spent in the last years of the Second World War to also recruit foreign volunteers of German ethnicity or however ideologically linked to National Socialism despite their origin. Le 27 janvier 1968, le sous marin la Minerve coule au large de Toulon avec 52 personnes à bord. ⚓ Chaque été, lorsque jallais à Toulon et quon était sur un bateau, je me disais quils étaient peut-être pas loin de nous... 🌊 Un sous marin qui disparaît, quon ne retrouve pas, cétait un mystère et ça me fascinait. Jai demandé aux libraires de la ville, si il y avait des documents sur cette histoire à lire, rien! Et en juillet 2019, je lisais les infos sur mon tél et je vois : La Minerve, brisée en trois morceaux repose bien au large de Toulon, par 2.370 m de fond. Lattente a du être insupportable pour les familles mais le plus triste cest quévidemment il ny aura ni corps, ni ossements retrouvés. Lieve mensen, Met pijn in ons hart en een grote knoop in onze maag hebben we net besloten dat we morgenavond de laatste avond van het seizoen zullen draaien! Met de maatregelen die nu zijn gepresenteerd kunnen we simpelweg de kosten niet dekken met de omzet. Conclusie: Dan kunnen we maar beter dicht gaan! Superjammer, maar zo’n abrupt einde past ook wel weer bij de gekte van dit seizoen. We zijn heel blij dat deze maatregelen nu pas zijn gekomen! We hebben door het mooie weer, heel veel trouwe gasten en ons fantastische team toch een hele fijne zomer gehad! Mocht je ons nog niet kunnen missen, kom dan vanavond of morgen overdag nog langs. Happy Sunday! I thought I would share some history on this rainy Sunday. Imagine life at Coogee beach in the late 1800s... The bathing machines shown were invented and produced by Mr Harry Greenfield from about March 1885 at the Vial & Sons coach factory, Castlereagh Street, Sydney. Though similar to others already in use in England & Europe, Mr Greenfield added an ingenious shark-proof cage mechanism that bathers could keep within, if they felt it necessary. The machines shown here would likely have first appeared at Coogee Beach sometime during September 1886, since Randwick Council gave approval for their immediate use on Coogee Beach on 31 August 1886. Not all councillors were in favor! The bathing machine was a device, popular from the 18th century until the early 20th century, to allow people to change out of their usual clothes, change into swimwear, and wade in the ocean at beaches. It was a year ago from today that we were in Normandy, France filming our 75th D-Day Anniversary documentary that premiered at Sundance this year. A life changing experience for our crew that was a part of it. The world has definitely changed in this year timeframe, but grateful to the lives of those that have gone before us, and reminded us that there is so much good in the world to still fight for. He originally put down a deposit on a Nomad last year, with plans for a full-sized rig, but his shortbed Tacoma was totaled in Death Valley. He found another Tacoma and changed his reservation to a 6’ Drifter model instead. We installed the @merlin.solar 220 watt panel on the roof as well to keep the @dometic CFX3 55IM cold and provide all the power needs. Supercharged, dual locked, long travel, 2nd gen trail limo on 35’s? Yes, yes, and yes. Oh, and although his other Tacoma was totaled, production model #1 was fine and now resides on @chrisholloman1 ‘s truck.
